“Great budget hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014

This is a great budget hotel if you are looking for something cheap and near the beach. It has a perfect location and the staff are reasonably helpful. The room was clean and very big. We booked a deluxe room. The air con, wifi and hot water were very good. The bed was big and comfortable. It is a very close walk into town also so you don't need to get a taxi or rent a motorbike. The reception also can arrange tours and tickets for you. Nice stay for the price. Check out the fireshows at the bar across the road. Sparktacular

Room Tip: the deluxe room are bigger than the standard

I stayed at this hotel early April on my way to Koh Phangan. Thailand during this month is so hot so avoid the fan rooms they are unbearable in every way and are really overpriced.
I upgraded to an aircon room which was so much bigger and only 200 bhat extra per night so it was worth every penny.
My rooms were clean with comfy beds and pillows although the hotel might consider upgrading their sheets as they have holes in them.
The beach straight across the road is beautiful with free sunbeds (avoid massages on the beach they are not good).
I thought the restaurant was expensive. Go to the night market 2 mins away in the main street. Its on every night and has the best food.
The staff were not helpful, have no personality and not much knowledge of anything but this is beginning to be sadly a common thing for Thailand Tourism these days.
Overall worth the stay just don't expect a friendly welcome and ask for info at a travel place they know more and are cheaper for transfers etc

Hi thank you for reviewing Rich Resort. It is great to hear that you found our location to go be good and the room was comfortable.
Yes the fan room can be hot for some especially during the hot season. We offer the fan room because it provides a lower priced room for guests to book. Our motto is "affordable beachside accommodation" and we try to provide this. Yes for some people the climate in Thailand is too hot. We have many people stay in our fan rooms with no problem. It is our most popular room type because of its price. We offer air conditioned rooms also and guests are always welcome to upgrade to an air conditioned room dependent on availability as you did.
Sorry that you found the staff not helpful. We will work our best to improve our service for future customers.
Thank you again for your review and hope to see you again soon!

We had the room at the front outside of the reception; other rooms were in the quiet zone. This was not a problem but it could be in high season. The Swing Bar was really good, right on the beach with v good food and drink. Entertainment included the human firework - Omg no health and safety here, what a talent!

I've spent 5 days at this resort and I can say that everything has been good: location is right at the beach, they have a parking for guests too, clean rooms end very friendly staff. In not even than 5 minutes walk you're in the center of Lamai.

My friend and I stayed here during our stay in Lamai. Originally booked one night and ended up staying 4. The staff are friendly enough. Rooms spacious, but make sure you get air con or one with a window as they get extremely hot.
There is the option of having your room made up each morning during which time they replace towels and give you more free water.
Food available from Skinny Bar opposite is good. For cheaper food, try the night market out on main strip. Here you can eat for about 80BHT.

Thank you for taking your time to review our business. It is excellent to see that you found our hotel to be good value and good location. Also good to hear that the staff were friendly and that you enjoyed your stay enough to extend it from 1 to 4 days!

Our motto is "affordable beachside accommodation" and we try to provide this. Yes for some people the climate in Thailand is too hot. We have many people stay in our fan rooms with no problem. It is our most popular room type because of its price. We offer air conditioned rooms also and guests are always welcome to upgrade to an air conditioned room dependent on availability.
All of our rooms have opening windows, the fan rooms have windows higher up the wall because of the room design and for privacy. You can see from photos online that all of the room types have curtains and behind the curtains are sliding windows with mosquito nets.
Thanks again for the review, we appreciate your comments and views.

Situated right off the middle of lamai beach. Their restaurant has some quality food, though can be expensive, it offers a great view of the beach with nightly fire shows. Do not miss the big shows on Mon & Fri. AMAZING! The music combined with the show was too good! If you're "UTI" it will take you to a new dimension. Mind blown.

As a solo budget backpacker, I can only comment on my room as I chose the cheapest one. It had a dbl bed, fan, fridge, drawers and some hangers. The fan was adequate if you had a shower every 30mins without drying up, but the room is a sauna otherwise. The TV was crap. Many channels were static and fuzzy. Bathroom pretty standard. Room was fairly clean and ok size. Wifi was unexpectedly very fast (most of the time) My room was next to the stairs where everyone comes and goes. It got annoyingly bad at times when you have drunk tards having loud conversations. One inconsiderate bunch chilled on the steps at 3am and yapped away until I told them to gtfo. The cleaners also did the same + music off their phones during the mornings. I had many late nights and the cleaners gave me hell. You can shut the window, but it will only do so much but then the fan becomes useless as no air flow. Also the fly screen was slightly broken off its hinge allowing a small gap. Didn't get any mosquitoes luckily.

The staff were nice. Especially the chubby girl. Very polite and attentive. The others were ok. There are many activities you can book through them. Laundry was a downside. It took 2 days and one sock went missing. I know it's outsourced so not to blame. If you want laundry done, walk to the right and there's a laundry service there. My guess it's where the resort outsources to. Its cheaper and you can get express (3hrs) for 50baht, which is what the resort charges and it took them forever. Also my other sock is lonely.

Overall I would definitely recommend this resort if you're on a budget and maybe get an aircon room and not next to the stairs. You live and learn. I will be back

This place is in a very good location where you are right next to the beach and can walk to the main town within minutes. The rooms are definitely budget but they are clean and comfortable. The price is good so you get what you pay for. The only downside is the reception gets very busy during checkout at 12 and the hotel is full most days so we had to transfer to a different room type when we decided to stay longer. We met a lot of backpackers here. We would recommend if you are looking for good location at a good price and aren't too fussy because it is basic.
