This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in! Top notch service, food & facility.

We arrived at 10am in the morning and the hotel checks us in immediately as our room is available then, rather than let us wait till the usual check in time. What a bonus! It felts like we have a full day's worth of stay.

The room was really spacious and nicely decorated. Sunken bath tub, rain forest shower, double sinks etc. The bed was absolutely heavenly. My husband is very fussy with the mattress he sleep on and most hotels mattresses are too firm for him (he has to bring his own topper when we travel!), but the mattress was really luxurious and soft. Mind you, if you like firm mattress, then this might be a bit soft for you. Plenty of mineral water (I think there were about 6 or 8 500ml ones in the room) was provided complimentary of the hotel, and they get topped up every time the room is cleaned or during turn down service. Free wifi in throughout the hotel including the room too! A couple of things I might complain about is the tiny bottles of toiletries & lack of lighting in the bath room. I have long hair and big hair so every time I wash my hair, which is at least once a day with swimming, I use up at least a bottle of shampoo! There are a couple of huge mirrors but no lighting for make-up. Thank goodness I'm not a big make-up person.

The service was way beyond what we were expecting. We booked the free shuttle service to the nearby town Chaweng one night. We got to the meeting point on time, but because the van was full (a couple of people turning up without booking, the reception tried ringing but just missed us), they left without us. We were fine with it but they ran after us while we walk to get a taxi and offered to drive us in the limo to Chaweng complimentary of the hotel. What a service!

Everyone in the hotel was so friendly as well. Although there is a language barrier, it didn't stop them from smiling and wishing us when we good day when we pass each other. We got to know on e of the waiter very well. His name was Big. He always has a smile on him and is very good at his job.

The food was excellent! Quality and taste throughout our stay was of the highest standard. They are much better than any of the food we had outside the hotel. Good variety as well, both local and western. The western ones are as good as the ones we have back home! Really impressed.

We had a pool access room, and the pool is only shared by a few rooms so it was very private. There is a main pool as well by the restaurant, with single & double sun lounges. There are also kayak, snorkels, fins & shoes that we can borrow for free. Unfortunately the beach is not the nicest where the hotel is so we didn't go out into the sea much, but we are well happy swimming in the pool anyway.

Just want to also add that the service was really personal, and we have had such a wonderful time in Le Meridien! Thank you!

Room Tip: Pool for the pool access room are only shared by a few rooms so very private, so if you want a bit m...

Dear sooichuen,

What a pleasure it is to start off reading a guest review with an opening that summarizes a great stay all around. We're also glad that you found the service to be very personalized and friendly. Your recognition of Big in particular is most appreciated and I am sure he and others were delighted to be of service.

That said, I would like to address some of the feedback as we hope to welcome you back one day and every little detail we can take care of to make it more comfortable will be our pleasure. The resort is more than happy to put in extra shampoo bottles as needed along with a make-up mirror with lighting. These are readily available upon request. We're glad your husband now knows that he doesn't have to bring his own topper to our resort but for those who do need a firmer mattress as mentioned, we can quickly have the toppers removed.

Thank you for taking the time to share such positive feedback and as mentioned, we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to our resort.

Sincerely,
Tina

Great for a relaxing holiday!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in February for 12 nights. It was a marvellous holiday, exactly what we were looking for, relaxing, laid back holiday. It is an elegant hotel, in a quiet location, out of the noise and hustle of busy beaches. Guests are treated with respect and always with a smile. The staff knew and addressed us by name from the moment we walked in until we left. The check in was a pleasure. We were sit in the bar area, offered a complementary drink. During this time the staff from the reception came and asked for passports and this was all we knew about check in: no waiting in line at the desk, no standing… All nice and smooth.
Room: We had a plunge pool suite which was very nicely furnished, clean, good bed. It was cleaned every morning very thoroughly and then prepared for the night (the personnel lit candles and other stuff against mosquitoes). We had absolutely no problems with mosquitoes.
Pool: pool was excellent, plenty of lounges/sun beds, no problem to get one whenever you wanted. They have no reservation policy which they take care to be implemented. The pool staff would immediately remove the towels from unused sun lounges. We loved our daily young coconuts by the pool!
Food: very good selection for breakfast, for all tastes and cultures, with fresh vegetables and fruits, omelettes station etc. We were on a half board basis and had all our dinners at the hotel’s restaurant. Great choice, both Western and Eastern selection, very nice, well and freshly prepared, we loved it! The view from the restaurant is lovely: over the infinity pool towards the sea, marvellous!
Service: great service, awesome staff in all areas of the hotel: restaurant, pool, rooms, everywhere. You only have to ask for and they will do all they can to accommodate your request, this was my experience. Tina, the General Manager (very nice person came and talked to us, checking how our stay was) is hands on and we saw her everyday supervising during the breakfast and in different moments of the day. Luke, a manager at the hotel was very nice and attentive to guests, checked very often how we felt, if he could do anything to make our stay better. So was another very nice lady manager, if I remember correctly her name, Botan. But we really need to thank each and every person from the staff, from the restaurant and pool, room cleaning, for making our stay so pleasant!
SPA: very nice spa. As one might expect at a luxury hotel and spa prices are almost at Western level. We went there only once and enjoyed every bit of it! There are local spa-s outside the hotel with lower prices but very good service and massages, we tried those as well.

The only thing to improve is the wifi internet connection which is very slow. But I cannot say that this bothered us as we were on holiday and used it only for checking the news or skyping with family. Anyway we appreciated this was offered free of charge.

Thank you very much for a great holiday!

Dear A TripAdvisor Member,

Thank you so much for your thorough review which reflected a pleasurable and relaxing stay experience. With a half board booking for 12 nights, it is good to know that you enjoyed your meals while here!

It is also good to know that the team took good care of you throughout at every touch point. Your recognition is a great encouragement for the team to keep delivering!

In regards to the WiFi internet, we already have plans for improvement in place and it is expected to be completed in just weeks of this reply. Obviously, you will have to return just to try it out.

We certainly hope you do and thank you for spending your holiday with us here in Samui and at Le Meridien.

Sincerely,
Tina

We planned a 5 night stay here which turned into 7 nights as we just wanted those extra 2 nights. We booked to stay in a Terrace suite I highly recommend these rooms they are very private and the terrace is perfect for relaxing on after a day of activity. It was my birthday when I arrived they really made a fuss with a cake and decoration on the bed. The welcome at the hotel is really overwhelming and you truly are given a genuine welcome. All the staff team are great they are more like a family unit that a work team. They appear to all work happily together and provide a great service. The hotel itself is very nicely done the lobby is very relaxing. The nightly lantern ritual is fabulous. I strongly suggest anyone staying takes part in this at least once. The food in the hotel was always good and to a high standard no complaints. The pool area was relaxing always clean and we always found beds available around the pool. We used the spa it was excellent and well worth a visit. The hotel booked scooters for us and we used these to explore the whole island. People seem to complain about the beach. Yes it is not the best beach but I think the hotel accept this and do provide transport to other beach's. We really enjoyed our time here and would not hesitate to go back. Thank to all the team at the hotel.

Room Tip: If you want privacy I would suggest terrace suite rather than pool access.

Dear biggee77,

I think it's always a good sign when guests decide to extend their stay and we are very glad that you did, particularly over the special period emcompassing your birthday! I am sure it is the extra days that ensured for a relaxing holiday as summarized.

It is also good to know that you enjoyed our service and facilities, finding time to participate in the Celebration of the Day ritual at 19:19 which is not to be missed as mentioned. Hopefully, your scooter exploration of the island was equally as successful. Samui island is very easy to get around and a trip out is highly recommended for a true island discovery.

We thank you for your recognition of the team and for describing us as a family work unit which is a great description reflective of our own sentiments. As a guest in our home, we look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back!

Sincerely,
Tina

We had in February 2014 our wedding at the Le Meridien Koh Samui. In total we were 45 guest. Most of the guests stayed at the hotel. Our guests very impressed by the hotel and the service they experienced as our wedding guests. The wedding was fantastic and the result of the great co-operation between Luke, the F&B manager of the Le Meridien, and us. Luke is very detailed oriented without losing the big picture why he is able to put focus on the right details in order to ensure the best big picture outcome. We are very pleased and thankful regarding Luke's support. In that context we also want to thank the GM Tina for her great support and offer they put together for us. With the help of Tina and Luke the wedding went very well and was an unforgettable event for us and our guests. The location, the food and the proposed shows were spot on. The hotel employees were very friendly and supportive lead by Tina and Luke. Another great advantage of the hotel is its location. The bay is more quiet and beautiful especially with the pier. The unique setting makes a weeding a unique experience which you want to have for your wedding. All in all we were overwhelmed. Many thanks Le Meridien Koh Samui, Tina, Luke and the whole team. You made our wedding a unforgettable event...... Many thanks.

GOOD:
Good place to stay, fantastic staff, good food!

BAD:

Location: the location is quite far (walking 30 min) to Lamai beach. it seems you have to rent a motorbike there (300B/day)

Swimming: nowhere with soft sand for you to to swim in the sea, everywhere full of rocks and coral. It will kill you easily. Gosh~~

Less valuable for money: the price is still a bit high. For the same price, I would suggest Nora Buri Resort or Napasai

Room Tip: Four types of rooms with various rates...

Dear FishF,

It sounds like you enjoyed all aspects of your stay with exception to the location.

Le Meridien is situated on the eastern coast of Lamai Beach from which Lamai town or the center of Lamai beach is about a 20-30 minute beach walk when tides allow. In fact, we are in the middle of the islands 2 most popular beach destinations which are Lamai and Chaweng and therefore offer a quiet environment without being in the midst of the hustle and bustle. Chaweng is anywhere from a 10-20 car ride depending on the drop off on Nothern or Southern end. The well known Silver Beach at Crystal Bay is also a 5-minute walk and we also have a shuttle to go there daily along with Coral Cove, another unique spot.

If the postitives mentioned from accommodation to staff and food be enough to bring you back again one day in a more quiet and peaceful setting, please do reconsider Le Meridien Koh Samui!

Sincerely,
Tina

Le Meridien is a great quiet hotel located just on the outskirts of Lamai therefore avoiding the noise and hustle of the beaches in Lamai itself. The open plan reception area is calming in itself no pretentiousness for a 5 star hotel. It is well run by Tina Liu, the general manager who is actively ensuring everything is running smoothly and who also interacts with her guests throughout the day. The breakfast is very sumptuous with choices of western food and also Asian food and is set up in the main restaurant which overlooks the pool. Pool is small but sufficient as the beach is only 100 metres away. The beach depends on the tide, so when the tide is out the staff put sun loungers on the beach for you. The water is not crystal clear and is shallow but fine.
The rooms are elegant and well equipped. We took the pool access villa which was simply fantastic as your room enters onto a terrace where your pool is waiting. Heaven. The restaurant is good too and prices are 5 star Thai prices but not over the top. Comparable to 3 star European prices. The food is good quality and the service staff throughout the hotel are wonderful from events manager Luke to the trainees Yu Hao, Ja,Ridwan, Big, Tuk Tuk to name a few.
The hotel offers free shuttles daily to various different parts of the island which is a nice gesture.
There are other dining opportunities outside of the resort and the small shopping centre of Lamai is a 10 minute walk.
We stayed here for 12 glorious days and it was a very special laid back holiday. Thank you Le meridian and your fantastic staff

Room Tip: pool access villa is a must as the normal rooms have no private pool only access is to the main pool...

Dear JinksBelgium,

Thank you for taking the time to review our property after experiencing it for nearly 2 weeks!

We're glad you had the opportunity to enjoy our facilities and to meet the team from the trainees to the managers. Being away from home for so long, it is important that you were comfortable under our care! Your comments have certainly been shared and your recognition most appreciated.

It sounds like you also had a chance to explore the areas nearby the resort on foot as well as taking the shuttle service to different parts of the island in the evening, making for a well rounded exploration.

Please do try to return for a visit and the team will be waiting to welcome you back to your Samui home!
