Very Authentic setting, Good traditional Thai food with no airs and graces. Stephan the owner was very nice and warm, and made us feel very much at home. If you want "home made" food in an outdoor setting then this place is great!

During a recent holiday we visited Kob Thai after reading reviews on Trip Adviser.

Following a short cab ride, we were greeted by Stephanne, the French Owner. We were showed to our table which was basically our own hut/chalet. The waitress came with the menu's and asked if we wanted drinks whilst we reviewed the menu.

The spicy prawn soup that my wife ordered for starters was fantastic, I had a starter platter but we shared the food. The soup was very spicy, as we asked, but was wonderful.

We then ordered a selection of dishes together with seafood rice. Each dish was superb, very tasty. We possibly ordered too much but the portion sizes were generous.

Stephanne checked on us a couple of times during the evening to ensure we were totally satisfied and asked if there was any area we felt he could improve on when it came time to leave.

Service was excellent without being intrusive, the food full of flavour.

I really hope the place proves a great success because the effort and quality is there even if the location is a little off the beaten track

We would not have found this without our taxi, it is off the beaten track in Lamai but worth the detour. We were greeted by the French owner who proved to be an excellent discrete but interested host all evening. Tables set under own little gazebos throughout garden, swimming pool light show adds to ambience at night and heavy rain didn't dampen spirits. We had chef recommended starter of 4 canapé type options. Tempura prawns and spring rolls excellent, chicken a tad dull and the crab cake was good. Served with dips which suited my fellow diner, I prefer more heat! A Thai green curry included peas, and other very fresh vegetables and was nicely spiced, again not too hot and Ferness and flavoursome. Snapper with garlic and pepper was nicely cooked and moist and went well with the curry. Worth the detour and about the price we have come to expect...

As always, visited this restaurant on the back of TA reviews and was not disappointed.

The menu is definitely very fish heavy with a variety of seafood dishes outnumbering meat dishes. This is not a negative thing at all, though, as the quality of the fish is great and it is cooked perfectly. We tried the shrimp tempura and it was the best we've ever eaten either inside or outside Thailand.

Other dishes don't disappoint either with both the pad thai and fried rice perfectly hitting the mark and both serving well as individual dishes or as sides. The satay chicken starter was also excellent as so was the chicken and cashew nuts main. Both complimented perfectly the fish dishes and show that the restaurant is not a one trick pony.

Besides the great food, the outdoor setting and seating were thoroughly enjoyable. It gives a sense of privacy and it makes it much more relaxing than a traditional restaurant setting. Service was also extremely attentive and curteous, with even the owner coming to make sure we were enjoying our meal.

It might be a little out of the way (easily reached by scooter or taxi but a little bit of a walk from Lamai main street) but the great food at such a reasonable price with a perfect setting for a couples or family dinner make it worth a visit.

Our hotel, Rocky’s resort, advised us this Thai restaurant, it was a good choice ! Very relaxed atmosphere, casual outside dining, nice small pool to sit by, and little bamboo shacks. Yummy delicious Thai food: jungle curry, shrimp tempura, steam lemon fish, tom yam shrimp soup. Great value for money! The owner is lovely chap.
