We quite enjoyed our stay at Samui Laguna Resort. The staff were friendly and helpful all with very good speaking English. The hotel is close to shops, restaurants in the town. The bungalow was a bit outdated. Price is ok!. Lamai is a quiet area of the island.. Great location for couples and families.

Nothing negative to mention; nice room with XXL-bed, bathroom a bit smallish, balcony with seats and table. Good breakfast (for Thai standards) nice beach with sufficient free beach chairs. Very friendly staff.
Only one complaint: smoking is allowed in the restaurant (as is everywhere in Thailand). Also, their main clientele is drawn from Germany and Russia (!!)

The bathrooms smell like sewage. They have not installed water traps in their drains.
Lice found in the baby bed supplied.
Smoking is allowed everywhere, room stank of sigarette smoke !!!!!
Restaurant food is good, but spoilt by smokers !
Staff were great, friendly and very helpful.
Has the potential to be a very nice resort if some rules are made ie smoking, noise at night and people reserving beachbeds even when they go off to town.
Beach is very nice.

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

I stayed here for 3 nights travelling solo in December, in a standard room. The hotel is located at the north end of the main Lamai strip, next to a river which flows into the sea.

Upon checking in I was shown to what must be the worst room in the hotel - dark ground floor room right next to the pool. I complained and was shown to a room on the 2nd floor with a view of the river and the water chemical tanks. Better but still not very appealing, finally was shown to a room on the 3rd floor facing the inner courtyard. At least they made the effort to get me a better room but I had to push and the first room was horrible.

Two problems emerged however - firstly there was a dirty towel (muddy brown stains) which I presented to the desk and had them replace it - unfortunately not an unusual occurrence during my travels in Thailand. Secondly the foul smelling shower water; I think it's the chemical treatment they do to the ground water but I dreaded turning on the water every time and taking a shower. Appreciate that water is a tough commodity to manage in Samui, but having spent many weeks travelling in Malaysia, Thailand and Bali in different types of accommodation from zero stars up, I can safely say this was the worst shower/water I have encountered.

Staff at the front desk were very friendly and had good English, TV and wi-fi were fine.

Locaton-wise, the pro is the hotel has a nice stretch of beach which is relatively peaceful as it is at the end of the main Lamai strip and has lots of deck chairs, an easy walk up the main street or along the beach to find more action, but out of the way and hence quiet at night. The con is it sits adjacent to a brown river which flows into the sea. The pictures on the web look like paradise - long blue pool, blue deck chairs etc, but the reality is the pool isn't very big and the deck area backs onto the river, which wasn't appealing to me.

The bar area was dusty and sparse when I visited, though the bar and restaurant look out onto the beach so you can have a drink or meal there overlooking the surf. Alternatively walk down the beach to one of the many beachside eateries, or navigate across that river outlet and go to North Lamai which had some nice quieter beach and pleasant eating places. I did not have breakfast at the hotel, so cannot comment on the quality, but it appeared to be expensive relative to what is available in town (plenty of places so a room rate without breakfast will not be a problem),

This establishment is advertised as 3 stars and to me it feels over-rated, and over-priced and I think there must be places in Lamai which are better value for money. This hotel seems to get mixed reviews and have a following of loyal return customers, so evaluate the pros and cons; but the iffy housekeeping and shower water won't have me returning.

The place, position is very nice and quiet. The beach is also beautiful. We think this was a good choice for price/ quality. The resort in located in the center of Lamai Beach.
We choosed a bungalow. The only thing that was missing is a safe in the room, they have them but at the main entrance.
