“Simple and basic”
Reviewed 30 September 2007

We went to Koh Samui for a friend's wedding and decided to stay in Lamai. The Samui Park Resort was basic and pretty good value for money, however we did spend a lot on taxis going into Chaweng everyday. (300 baht each way)

Whilst we were there, the hotel was fairly quiet and the pool was almost empty. However I did notice that the pool was not cleaned regularly. But half way through our stay, a new manager joined and he asked us our views. I mentioned the pool and immediately, everyday, the pool was cleaned.

The breakfast was basic and the same everyday. I don't eat meat so it was interesting trying to convey that to them! Most of the time, I gave my sausages to my partner to eat.

We also had lunch and dinner at the hotel on a couple of occasions. We love Thai food and felt it was pretty good. Service was good apart from the lack of English.

The rooms were large and clean with a balcony. We got one facing the sea and therefore didn't experience the noise from the street.

One thing to note is that not all taxi drivers know where this hotel is. I would tell them it's not far from the Rocky Resort on Lamai.

Stayed here for 4 nights in Superior Room. Well, it was not exactly "superior" by any means. The problem was the noise from the street: cars, lorries and big trucks. Everytime some car passed the hotel the noice was horrible. This problem is only for the few rooms nearby the street. In any case, I would say - avoid "superior rooms" at all cost! If you want to stay in this resort, you should definately book a bungalow.

The breafast was not very good. The location is quite isolated but it´s also postive if you don´t want to experience nightlife and Pizza Hut´s, McDonald´s and other things nearby you like in Chaweng Beach. There are one nice family restaurant very near to the hotel, it´s inexpensive and the food is good. The pool area is nice but cleaning should be more effective in the morning.

The service is ok, I booked the transportation by car to the airport for the evening flight. The reception got mixed up with AM and PM and they wake me up in the early morning saying that the car is waiting! They didn´t want to believe that the mistake was theirs. Finally, I was able to make it right. The driver got lost in the dark two times when driving to the airport...

After all, this could be really nice resort if they just correct some serious problems. At the moment, I feel that I wouldn´t go there again. There are so many hotels in Samui.

We spent 5 nights in that hotel last january. I would say, that this location is not very good on Samui, beach, is dirty, isolated and very dirty swimmimg pool. Our room was very big, clean, and had a nice view.
Staff is polite and helpful.
But the food from breakfast to dinner is just disgusting.
But for the price this hotel still remains a good deal.

Hotel little bit far from lamai or chaweng villages. You will need to grab a taxi or tuk tuk. That what we did during the entire week.

Reception very helpful.
