“Great Place”
Reviewed 11 January 2013

We travelled with our 2 kids and were booked into mango Village by family. We stayed in an apartment style room with 2 bedrooms as well as 2 balconies. Our view was of the ocean and the kids had a view over the pool area and the resort. Mango Village is not a very big resort, but the staff were great and super friendly and you get that personal service that might not be there at other bigger resorts. This was definitely a highlight, esoecially as we stayed here for quite some time.

The resort has a wonderful pool area and a large kids swimming pool, so the kids had a ball and met friends in and around the pool. You can also access the beach directly from the resort, but we just used the beach for some walks.

There is an Italian restaurant in the resort, and we generally had very good food (ehen we ate in), which was reasonably priced. The breakfast was very basic, but you get what you need. Lunch at the pool was always good.

We also booked some trips through the reception and they are great in organising these and offer some good advice when choosing between similar activities. The only (small) drawback, is that Mango Village is about 5 minutes from Lamai Village, so you need to either have a vehicle or hire taxi's to get bto the village itself, which has great shopping and a multiude of eating places and bars. The reception was great in organising our taxi's, so was not a major issue. Another orion is to hire a scooter, which you can do directly from the hotel.

Lastly, our trip was also over the Christmas and New Year period, so as with most places, the prices were slightly higher, but still well priced when compared with other resorts in Lamai Village itself.

We would definitely stay there again.

We've stayed in this hotel in August for 2 weeks with our 2 and a half year old baby.

We stayed in one of the family apartments at the top floor of a two story building.
It had two good size bedrooms, each with it's own balcony(one with a very nice sea view), and one bathroom. The furniture was a bit old, but ok, one of the rooms had a double bed, the other one had two single beds.
They provided a very nice cot for our baby. They changed the towels and provided toiletries daily.
My only complaints about this apartment were the shower drainage system(kept on flooding no matter how much they tried to fix it) and the fact that the entrance to the apartment was directly into the children's room(no hallway). Combined with the fact that I've seen no security guard around, made me feel a bit unsafe, but nothing wrong happened.

This complex changed ownership from the nice Italian family everybody is talking about in
the previous reviews(which was one of the selling points for me) to some Dubay company.
This change implied several things during our stay. They kept on taking out the beautiful plants in the complex and replacing them with lawn, in a very random way which led
to plants being left on the alley for hours. The beach was not taken care of, I could see the same dirt for days. It's true that most of the guests didn't go to the beach, but maybe this was one of the reasons.
The good thing about the beach is that it doesn't become muddy when the water retreats, so no mosquitoes. The water is shallow, good for young children, but not suitable for swimming. You need water shoes because of the many rocks and corals.
There was no massage lady at the beach, although the hotel could arrange for one to come for you, but a bit expensive. There was a very good massage lady nearby for half the price.

The restaurant still cooks wonderful thai and italian food(except for the italian soups which are instant soups).
The restaurant staff is absolutely amazing!!They are kind, warm, attentive, we just loved them! They were so nice to us, remembered our preferences, played with our baby.
Being with such a small baby we preferred having all our meals at the hotel, as the restaurant is so clean and we had no unwanted surprise with the food.
They have a pretty wide selection of thai and italian food, but it is expensive, maybe one of the reasons guest prefer to go to the restaurants nearby.
The breakfast is a bit scarce. In the first days they had a buffet breakfast but then
they changed it to a la carte. They had the usual toast, butter, jem, yogurt, eggs, some thai soup, juice, coffee, tea, pancakes and fruits.

The resort is a bit far from the main attractions, but it's on the main road and taxis and tuk-tuks pass by every time. Still, if you want to go out every day, you
might consider renting a scooter.
We rented a car from the hotel at a good price.

We were very happy with our stay and we'll definitely consider it if we would go again to Lamai.

This is a lovely set of bungalow units just south of Lami Beach and a short drive to Lami, Chaweng, or points south. I stayed in a garden view bungalow that was clean and comfortable. Pleanty of storage space for putting clothy and sundry items aways and a very nice covered porch for hanging, out of the sun or rain. The people working there were quire nice, friendly, and helpful.

The pool was lovely, but was disappointed that the beach side is more an afterthought - reached by descending a steep staircase. This part of the island - The Rocky's - is dominated by huge boulders and while the beach itself is sandy (between the rocks)- the water itself is quite shalllow and rocky a long way out from the beach. I'd come prepared with water shoes to swim and walk on the rocks - but it was so shallow that swimming was difficult, and not so fun. As a result, I used the hotel to stage day trips to various beaches, water falls, sites around the island.
