“An oasis retreat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014

We only had one night here but our stay far exceeded our expectations. After travelling over 800kms that day it was lovely to be welcomed into Alan and Maz's home as if we were old friends.
They could not do enough for us.
The accommodation was very comfortable and the breakfast the following morning was superb.
Unfortunately we were not able to appreciate the walk along the beach due to the wet weather but perhaps another time.
We would recommend South Pacific BnB at Clifton Beach for anyone who was wanting to get away from it all in welcoming surroundings.

My husband and I spent 8 days here as the start of my husband's sabbatical from work. Our stay far exceeded expectations.
The owners and hosts, Maz and Alan, are generous, genuine people. They were energetic, creative and thoughtful in helping us have a unique and memorable experience. Had we been old friends they had invited for a holiday with them, we could not have felt more welcome and cared for.
Our hosts picked us up at the airport and dropped us off for our return flight.
Maz made us fabulous breakfasts with exotic local fruits like dragon fruit, pomelo, sapotle, mangosteen, mango, monkey bananas and starfruit, plus coconut water fresh from the palms in their garden, and whatever else our hearts fancied. Maz is a very good cook, and a generally skillful, and helpful person. Alan is a warm-hearted, entertaining guy with a wealth of stories and interests. Together they created a sunset dinner on the beach for our final evening, happily carrying table, chairs, linens, china, crystal glasses and hurricane lamps to the beach, along with a delicious meal.
We stayed in the separate little cottage with king bed. It is very thoughtfully appointed with everything you could need including a kitchenette, beach towels, etc. It has its own little outdoor sitting area and there are laundry facilities right beside it.
The whole BnB has been beautifully renovated and landscaped. The back porch overlooking the "lagoon" pool and garden was very inviting and comfortable. We found it ideal for reading and generally hanging out. We even saw northern Queensland's famous Ulysses butterflies over the pool.
Clifton Beach itself is beautiful, fairly quiet (no stores or restaurants) and only a 3 minute walk away. A great spot to watch the sunrise, go for long walks, meditate and listen to the ocean. It is lined with a picturesque nature strip with charming old paperbark gum trees, a swamp creek with boardwalks, lots of wild flowers and native birds like kookaburras and cockatoos. Less than a mile from the BnB, via a beach stroll or a boardwalk through the bush is Palm Cove, where there are a number of good restaurants that our hosts helped guide us to, so there is an abundance of good food to be found.
Maz helped us find out about and book tours - snorkeling on the outer Barrier Reef, a day in the rainforest at Kuranda, and a visit to the zoo. It was much easier doing it with her help than it would have been on our own.
Definitely great value for money. If we are blessed with another opportunity to visit Cairns, this is where we would stay.

Room Tip: The separate cottage is a bit bigger and more private.
