“Holiday from Hell”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

The Olympic travel agent offered us the Kresten Palace hotel and did not mention the much nicer nearby Kresten Royal hotel. The Palace is more 2/3 star than 4/5 star which is what we were promised. First impression upon entering the hotel was good but rooms were dated and the only toiletries provided was a bar of soap - overall it did not reflect the brochure which showed flat screen TVs. Food was repetitive and basic. Manager in restaurant rude and staff just ok. Cockroach in room. Tiled areas were often wet and dangerous. Bar area and staff were nice. One member of our party became ill which meant we only enjoyed two full days of our holiday.
First and last visit to Greece. Very disappointed.

Room Tip: Choose the Kresten Royal instead

If you've seen the brochure then it doesn't lie
It was what we expected although the room was different to the one pictured but it had the Seaview we requested.
primarily we booked having seen a trip advisor review about someone who was gluten intolerant ( coeliac) and that the maitre of the restaurant readily advised them on what they could eat at each meal.
We found this to be correct. As my wife is a coeliac she was advised on what was safe to eat
The food in general was very good and although the food for coeliac sufferers was not extensive there was a good choice. The desserts though we're just fruit or Greek yoghurt.
The spa was closed but when you had the swimming pool as pictured and a great private beach and cove you didn't need it
Should you go? Too right!

This is our 2nd time at the Kresten palace hotel.
We returned as a treat for my Fathers 80th birthday, we were a party of 8 ages ranging from mid twenties to eighty.
The hotel is on a sloping site has many steps and slopes, so people with mobility problems may need to let hotel know this to have rooms allocated which have lift access to their floor, some rooms have stair access only.
Again we would like to say a Great big thank you to all the lovely helpful friendly staff,
We arrived after 10pm, so missed our evening meal, we were given a voucher for that meal to have as a lunch or evening meal before leaving.
The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy, just one small negative the air con was not on so rooms became hot through the night , we did not mention this to staff so we do not know if this was just our room.
Meals, good choice for most people but being vegetarian I found that meat or fish were added to lots of the cold salad dishes, but having said that I found enough to eat.
The pool bar meals good choice lovely pizza and salads.
Bar great staff good service good inside outside seating.
Evening entertainment good for children.
Pool lovely plenty of sun beds,I enjoyed water gymnastics.
Beach small with sun beds rocky good for snorkelling, need swim shoes, small platform and steps now removed so access needs care, hope the platform and steps will be replaced.
Easy to reach Rhodes town by bus or taxi which go from just outside Hotel, bus 2.30 euros taxi 9 euros.
Kallithea spring worth a visit 1 euro on bus, steep down hill slope plus access to beaches.
Late check out room 30 euro.
We had a great holiday have lots more to see hope to return.
Thank you to the management who answered our Email during their Christmas holidays, our room and sea view more than fulfilled our request.
Please thank all your lovely staff who work very hard.
Thank you from the Pearson family.

Room Tip: 148 sea and pool view no lift access Some noise from deliveries early morning.

My fiancé and I stayed at this hotel last week and I have to say we were not that impressed. We were expecting 5 star luxury. This was not the case. Over all it is a nice hotel but does not deserve the star rating. The hotel is supposed to have 24hr air con as advertised in our rooms but when we arrived it was really hot. We tried to turn the air con on but it blew out hot air. I rang reception who said that as it was out of season they were not turning the air con on for another week. I was really annoyed as then we had a rubbish nights sleep as it was so hot. We complained abut this multiple times but nothing was done. Our sink was also not emptying properly again we complained about this three times. In the end we just used a knife and pulled out the plug.

It was also advertised that there was evening entertainment and things to do during day. This was not the case. There was no attempt to put anything on at the hotel. However, The pools were nice and the lobby bar was great.

The food was wrongly advertised. It said on the website that there were 2 restaurants that were a la carte. They weren't . The Greek restaurant was in a lovely location by one of the pools. The food was poor the starter was actually a buffet the main was a choice of either meat or a fish platter. We asked for the meat platter, which was actually a plate of meat and a load of chips. Nothing special. Then the pudding was just given to us, we weren't even asked if we wanted it. There was no explanation of what it was.

The Italian restaurant was better but still wasn't what I would call a la carte. I asked if the bruschetta could be served without pesto as I have a nut allergy. My fiancés turned up but I didn't get anything. Surely a 5-star hotel can accommodate an allergy sufferer.

The buffet was repetitive. Was so feed up of spaghetti Bolognese and bread by the end of the week. Dinner was basically the same as lunch, but with a few extra dishes. A lot of the food was not labelled. Do not go if you have any allergies as the food labels just aren't up to standard.

Service was ok. They were great at clearing your plate but after you arrive they didn't ask you again if you wanted a drink. You had to ask all the time if you wanted a drink.

It says it's an all inclusive hotel but it's really not. They didn't even give you free water for your room. We asked if we could take a bottle from the restaurant and were told to buy it from the mini shop!

The room was ok. Beds were uncomfortable we had two twin beds that were pushed together but kept moving apart. I used a cup for water and they didn't even replace the cup for 5 days and you could tell it had been used!

Overall I think the 5 stars are for the pools. this hotel should not be advertised as 5 star. It's 3 star at the most.

One week stay in Greece, the holiday from hell. Run down hotel, loud aircondition units, uncomfortable bed, poor management, even poorer customer service(rude), terrible food. Cannot recommend this place except, it does have a lovely bar and view.

We stayed in this hotel in June 2013 and we had an amazing stay, the staff were all very friendly, the rooms were nice and the food was first class. The main reason however that we liked this hotel is that my girlfriend is Coeliac meaning she can’t have any Gluten in her diet and they couldn't do enough for her, the maître of the restaurant met her every night to advise the food should could or couldn't eat.

I am an ex holiday rep having spent over 10 years working overseas (6 of them on Rhodes) and I give this hotel full marks.

We loved it soo much we are going back this October .
