Firstly this hotel is currently being renovated (25 Oct 2011). I have stayed here in the past and found it basic but comfortable (but with problem areas),
Not seen what they are doing with the refurb but I hope it is the rooms and bathrooms as they are pretty dated. Avoid any rooms at the front of the hotel if you like a quiet night, there is a main road with a very busy ferry terminal accross the road which is heavily used by freight traffic.
There is no satelite television, luckily soem fo the programmes are just subtitled in Norwegian from English so you can sometimes gfind something to watch. The bar is usually pretty deserted, but that may be more to do with the prices in Nowrway.
The food and restaurant has been good and very poor in the past. My last visist a few months ago the chef had resigned and they were making do but it was pretty awful. In the past is has been good however the portions are very mean and it is very very expensive (compared to UK prices).
Breakfast is the standard help yourself continental offering and usaully ok.
They now have free interent throughout where in the past it was only available in the lobby.
