We stayed at the Mitsis Roda 19th Aug 13 for 1 week. Ours was a party of 7 with Grandparents, parents and kids. We had rooms next to each other around a lovely small pool with a bar serving drinks and snacks. The rooms were great, large, cleaned daily and yes, the air conditioning worked to the point where we were cold! Credit to the room cleaners. They worked really hard. The main hotel/reception was very nice. Staff very friendly. The food was very good with a wide selection catering for most peoples tastes. The restaurant was very busy at times and a little chaotic. It was difficult to get a coffee and a cup for tea and milk in the morning. Saying that, we couldn't fault the food. The main pool was very nice and clean. Our kids had a fab time on the slides. Down side is the salt water. It was very very salty and it took a bit of getting used to your skin and eyes stinging. We had to buy goggles for the kids. It didn't stop them from spending the day in the pool. If you want a sunbed by any of the pools ypu have to be up bright and early!!
In summary, we had a great holiday and were very happy with the hotel. We probably won't go back but that was because we were not keen on that part of Corfu. We also got eaten alive by the Mosquitos, especially when we walked into Roda in the evening. Take your DEET insect repellant!!

Room Tip: Family rooms around smaller pools are nice.

First impressions of mitsis roda beach resort was very pretty , great reception lovely grounds and kept clean . We arrived by private Roda taxi which cost 50euros well worth it as we got to roda within 45 mins and not 2 hours by coach so I was told by others who travelled this way . We were taken to our room 915 which was a family room decorated very nice with a partition and door with balcony . The rooms were spacious but after a day we noticed ants ,,not just a few ,I mean lots and lots .I would find them in the fridge on the tables in the bathroom and some even on the bed :/ The maid would come in everyday and mop the floors ,which did help the problem a bit but it was a constant issue throughout our stay ,by the end of our holiday we were use to having ants and found the funny side what else was we to do ! other than that the room was cleaned every day and beds made tidy and clean towels . The towels on sunbeds were a very big problem on this complex if u did not get down to a sunbed by 7am 7.30 am u would not have a sunbed all day . My husband would go down for us and stay with our beds until we came to the pool a little later unlike others that would not even be seen on there beds til in the afternoon , I think this really lets the hotel down .some family's were sitting up on the seats near main bar with towels on them because they couldnt get sunbeds whilst others would go on excursions and leave towels for when they got back think this was poor management and needs to be addressed with staff it is just not on . The pools were very very salty and was told this was cheaper than adding so much chlorine ? Not sure if this was true but I think I would prefer just chlorine and not salt more salt than the sea !! The pool bar at main pool were polite and helpful and happy :) . The beach again had problem with towels being put down very annoying ! The sea water was less salty than the pools .. The walk to roda was quite nice along the beach the beach needs a good clean though ! The all inclusive food was repetitive spag Bol , lasagne , kebab , same fish , pizza , and pancakes with chocolate sauce best thing about food was the cakes & gateaux .we do not feel like we ate our money's worth at this resort sometimes we use to skip breakfast and lunch because of same choice of foods and would end up havin a hotdog or roll round the pool . Drinks were given few and far between and got the impression they didn't like giving you them as we all know alcholic drinks is the most expensive thing they can provide ! these drinks were watered down alot ! We would wait patiently at dinner time for drinks and sometimes had finished dinner and stil not been given a drink . Very annoying we worked round it and ordered double drinks in one go with jugs of water tooo ! Problem solved !waiters were confused wen we use to order eight drinks instead of 4 haha ! . Some staff in main dinner hall were very nice and helpful .Entertainment is great for toddlers and young children . Show starts at 10 in the theatre and then disco in the beach bar til12 the animation team did really make a effort but was very poor .. Overall holiday had to many downs for me and my family with 2 older boys . The best thing about holiday was the suntan I got and the pancakes with chocolate sauce but I would never ever go back to mitsis roda beach a big rip off when you think our much it cost and u can't even get a sunbed and decent bit of grub ! P.s first restaurant on the right through the shop is excellent great portions proper drinks and worth the money when your fed up with roda beach resort good luck !

I stayed at the Mitsis Roda with my wife and children (aged 8 & 6) between 21st and 31st August and have to say it was a fantastic 10 days away, after reading some reviews days before we flew out I had an "oh no" moment and thought I had made a bad decision.
On arrival to the hotel several families made the comment "hope this is ours" and to our delight it was ours!! I can understand some of the comments reference the main pool (busy and always on the go) but our accommodation was a family superior room we had our own (shared) pool with approx 15 other rooms and about a 4 min walk to the main reception (rooms 640's), it was fantastic and slightly more peaceful. The food was excellent and i will miss the freshly made omelettes, we had to queue about 4 times during the 10 days to a max of 5 mins (which in an all-inc hotel is pretty good if you ask me!) but the staff got you in as quick as possible. The occasional wait for a drink, yes but in reality if the waitresses and waiters were sat down and not working I would have an issue, they weren't and got to us ASAP.
The staff were fantastic with my children and have absolutely no complaints, the girls always wanted to go to the 9 pm disco arranged by the animation team and they really loved it, we did not hang around for the other entertainment but that is for no other reason than it did not float our boat.
If you want to go to one of the other three restaurants you book three days in advance, book in the morning when you go to breakfast and drama over, the Greek and Italian were smashing. The beach and beach bar were also top.
Sunrise and sunsets and to die for, have plenty of space on the memory card!
The rooms were comfortable and VERY clean, freshly made each day with clean linen and towels, massive plus point.
We met some fantastic families on the holiday and that made it more special too, some healthy tennis competition also kept things moving.....
We went on holiday to shut down from the normal day to day routine of life, allow yourself to do that and you will love this hotel, as one comment summed it all up "relax, calm down, slow down and enjoy"!!!
A top hotel, staff, food, new friends and a fantastic time had.

Room Tip: Family rooms seem to be better located away from the main hotel - 4 min walk

I and my wife spent the 19th to the 29th Aug at this hotel. I had a very pleasant 10 days which was very relaxing. The food and drink was fine with lots of choice and all well prepared. The three restaurants on the beach have to be booked about 2 to 3 days in advance for both lunch and dinner. Maybe this because its peek season.

All the hotel staff were very helpful and very approachable and would help wherever possible.

The local town of Roda is a 10 minute walk along the beach which is a really nice evening walk. if you are facing the sea its to your right. Lots of bars and restaurants and a nice change from the hotel.

There are some points for improvement which I will list below some are for the hotel and some are for Thomas cook.

Transfer time from the Airport to the hotel: This took 1hr 50 mins and was a lot longer than we were advised. not sure why this was as we arrived late so not much traffic around.

Pool Sun Beds: usual story here people reserving beds at what must be very early hours of the morning. Tip go to the beach same beds and much more pleasant. In fact I would say if you have small Kids the beach is much more pleasant as it has a very gentle slope and virtually no waves.

Hotel pool towels: After reading articles on here I took my own as it seams lots of people were losing deposits they had left for towels as they were being taken.

Entertainment: This was not very good. In my opinion in and around the bars in the main building and at the beach they could do with some background music at night.

Beach Bar and Hotel Pool bar tables: The lighting in these areas is really bad at night. I would suggest the hotel either improve the normal lighting or put some tea lights on the tables.

No free wifi at hotel: This is unusual for a big hotel. They do have wifi but its a chargeable service. However a number of bars in Roda do offer free wifi if you need it.

We travelled at the beginning of August, with our 15 year old daughter and her friend, and stayed at the resort for two weeks. We have stayed in Greece several times in the past, and for this holiday deliberately chose a hotel which would cater for the teenage girls. We were not dissapointed with our choice. The girls quickly made friends with circa 30 teenagers aged 14 - 18 and were very happy throughout their stay. They particularly enjoyed the water sports on the beach, the pools, and the nightly disco from 23:00 - 00:00. We ate all of our meals together and went on a couple of trips to Corfu town, Aqualand, and to a boat trip and BBQ, and my husband and I enoyed ourselves in the knowledge that the girls were having a fanstastic time.
The hotel is well maintained with pretty flowers and gardens and private pools linked to different blocks of rooms on the complex. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The mini bar was restocked every two days. Our 2 rooms were in a block away from the Reception area, and pool area, which suited us very well, as it was quiet, and we were not disturbed at any time. The pools are all salt water, and the beach area is easily accessible from the entertainment theatre. The Entertainment team worked very hard - typical evening entertainment at a greek holiday resort, but that was to be expected, and some of the shows were good eg. riverdance.
Roda village is a 15 minute walk along the beach, and was much larger than we had expected with several tavernas and shops.
The staff were all polite and helpful without exception. It was easy to book the themed restaurants by booking a few days in advance - something which can be sorted out during the first couple of days of any stay. There was no restriction on the amount of visits requested for each restaurant.
Yes there were some things which could be improved - pool side sunbeds, and having to reserve these at 07:30, the local drinks which did not taste as good as imported spirits and wines and no method of upgrading to better drinks, the drinks service in the restaurant which was slow and haphazard. Did these things make us angry and stressed? No, we were on holiday in a lovely resort with lovely weather and the good things vastly outweighed the problem areas. The girls told us it was the best holiday they had every experienced - and I can't summarise our time at Mitsis Roda Beach any better than that.

Room Tip: Select a Superior room away from the Reception area. These are all next to private shared pools and...

Can't grumble about this hotel considering the price we got. Enjoyed our stay overall (2 adults one child). Food was excellent (by most hotel standards) and entertainment not bad. Downside was the rather grasping and penny pinching behaviour which seems to typify Greece for us. The room air conditioning promised on the brochure was (literally) non-existent. The engineer said that whole sections had simply been turned off. I presume to save cost. Outside temperatures were around 38 degrees.

As is usual we were charged 25 Euros (non-refundable) to use the room safe deposit box.

An enjoyable stay on the whole but we won't be going back.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking pool area if you want quiet.

This resort has a great beach and is very family friendly. The restaurants are also very good with an excellent variety of quality food. The overall cleanliness was also excellent.
We booked this resort because of the availability of suitable activities for our children aged 14 and 11. This was sadly lacking. The animation team weren't really interested in getting people involved (unless you wanted to buy a t shirt!) Football was advertised daily but was not organised to the extent that on a couple of occasions there wasn't even a ball! and the 'organiser' was at best very grumpy and disinterested. The court was unbelievably dangerous - so be warned! The other significant negative was that all of the pools are salt water which might not sound too bad but is a real issue. That said we gave up attempting to get a sun bed by the main pool or beach very quickly as they were all reserved by about 7.30am!!
Overall we enjoyed our holiday and we met some nice people and there are a lot of positives about the resort but it wasn't really value for money and didn't meet our expectations.
