As we arrived at the Hostel La Savina we looked with dismay on the swarms of mopeds on the busy road, the endless drone of their engines was awful......however, once we stepped into the hotel foyer a calm, peaceful, friendly atmosphere enveloped us. Once inside, looking out to the rear of the building at the beach, sea and boats, you wouldn't know that the busy road existed.
The whole hotel was wonderfully presented, the staff were lovely and special mention must go to the hotel cat. It was a pleasure to watch him every morning as we sat on the terrace eating breakfast and he sat on the waters edge fishing for his....and he caught plenty!!!
I would recommend anyone booking here to pay extra for a sea view, due the the very busy road at the front of the building we found our balcony unusable. The noise and fumes of mopeds made it impossible to sit out there sadly. The only other negative point is the smoking on the terrace while food is being comsumed...not nice.
The chill out music in the bar during the evenings, coupled with the excellent sangria as you watch the sun set make a great way to end the day.

Room Tip: Pay for a sea view otherwise you'll not be able to use your balcony as it will be on an extremely busy road!!

Had a lovely chilled out holiday at La savina 7 days in July.
I agree with every good review on the "Hostal", we absolutely loved it there in our seaveiw room, booked through Thomson.
Great breakfast and reduced evening meal rates for residents.
Found great beaches everywhere walking or taking the buses. San Fransisco is a lovely town to visit in the evening about 10 mins away on bus.I would say it may not be the place for children if they are not happy with just the beaches though.
We'd definately go again!

We have been to Ibiza many times but fancied something a little more laid back & that is just what we got in Formentera! This hotel is so lovely there are only a few things to fault but lots to praise. Massive choice at breakfast, spotless rooms & public area's, wonderful sea views from the bar/restaurant. If you want to sit back, read a book, have a cocktail & chill then this is the place for you! It was also very refreshing not to talk to any English people for almost a week, we actually liked the peace & quite with no awful 'British' bar in site! This hotel is mainly populated by Spanish & Italians guests & we saw no other english guests until our last day.

Only stay here if you can book a sea view room as we booked with Thomson who had none available to book & the rep told us they only have one sea view room available to Thomson guests. The views at the back of the hotel are to die for but the rooms at the front are very noisy from all the road/traffic noise. If we go back we will book direct with the hotel as we missed relaxing on our balcony & we were faced by apartments with others staring over so no privacy at all which was a shame. Plus we missed out on the beautiful sunsets!

Rooms - The room & bathroom are rather small but have massive wardrobe space which was a plus, you can hire a safe which was only 17 euro's & our towels were changed almost everyday. The air-con was wonderful after a day at the beach, great to cool off & have a small nap. The small fridge/chiller in the room is almost useless it keeps nothing cold & anything you put in will come out luke warm so total waste of time! Also I found it strange that the beds were single but as the room was small they had been pushed together which was fine for a married couple but may be not for friends/family sharing a room as you are rather on top of eachother!

Bar/restaurant - We had lunch once & dinner once at the hotel which each time we really enjoyed also if you eat between 7 - 9pm you get a evening meal discount. The drinks were very reasonable & most evenings we finished our night off in the bar. It is also very popular with none residents too so always a nice atmosphere.

The best thing about this lovely hotel is the staff, they are so helpful, kind, happy & smiley which was a real joy. What more can you ask for? We will be back!!!

Room Tip: Only book a seaview room!

Thank you very much by the critics, we like to listen to customers and improve where possible. Next year, Thomson will have 2 rooms with sea views. But if you want you can book on our website. You'll see the types of rooms, prices and decor.
The theme of the fridge is a problem because it is only a maintainer temperature at 10 degrees. refrigerators with a lower temperature have a noisy engine and it is problematic to sleep in silence.
The beds are separated in all rooms, the beds together only when there is request a double bed, in your case should have been our error.
Finally, thank you for your comment. Everything is important to keep improving.
Thank you very much.

We spent 14 nights at Hostal La Savina in june2011 (5th- 18.th) and could not have been more satisfied with the accomdation.
A lovley view from our room facing the sea - nice room , really nice breakfast area facing the sea , nice breakfast. A really helpful and nice staff.
Coming home from the beautiful beaches it was just perfect to have a drink in the bar listening to nice chill out music. We will defenetly stay here again - the location is also perfect for exploring the island and the nicest beaches in walking distance from la Savina.
All in all - just perfect!!

We spent a week here, never having been to the island before. This 'hostal' is described as basic, but is, in fact, a far higher rated establishment. Our room was not large, but it had comfortable twin beds, decent sized wardrobe with hangers, a little refrigerator, bathroom with tiny bath and great shower and a hair dryer. Only thing missing for me was no kettle for that essential morning tea, but we could have taken one with us. Our room faced the road and so it was a little noisy, but not unbearably so. I would imagine if you managed to get one of the sea-facing rooms you would be in paradise!
The welcome was friendly and warm and every member of staff had a smile and was willing to help at all times. Breakfast was served from 8.00am to 11.00am, very civilised, and was a huge buffet, you could eat as much as you wanted. The food was good to excellent - very reasonably priced dinner menu for residents, and with a variety of great snack food all day, pizzas, baguettes, tapas, etc.
La Savina is a bustling port with a beautiful marina housing fantastic luxury yachts and little sail boats. Plenty to see, lots of bike, scooter & car hire facilities and a good bus service.
The island has a tremendous laid back, slightly bohemian atmosphere, lots of hippies still in residence. Not many children there - I think with no airport and few child-specific activities, it suits couples more than lots of families with small children, but that added to the charm. Much as I love children, it was heavenly to have a quiet and relaxing week.
Good mix of nationalities - not heavily slanted to Brits. Most people on the island speak at least some English and enjoyed our attempt at pigeon Spanish.
