We have not stayed here but have had many a Sunday lunch with being in Whitby most weekends. Very good value for money and tasty meal, great cooked veg and plenty of it, give it a go. Staff very friendly and a warm welcome on arrival.

We stayed for three nights from 2nd May and felt really welcome as soon as we walked in, we were shown to our room which was just what we expected. As we were late arriving, we went straight to the bar, a good choice of 'real ales' and a well priced wine offer. Orders were taken at the table for meals, real home cooking, 'proper' chips as well, all from local suppliers which is good to see. Breakfast is pre-ordered the night before but don't order the full English if you are not a big eater in the mornings !!!
Nice beer garden out the back, sheltered with lovely views.
This is British 'pub hospitality' as it should be and reasonably priced.

A great value stay. Rooms basic and slightly dated but clean and warm. The attraction of the Plough Inn is the good food, great atmosphere and quality ales served in the bar. Frequented by friendly, welcoming locals it was a great place for a weekend stay!

Room Tip: Only 3 rooms so ask for the large double room if available

My wife and I stayed here on Saturday night 22 Feb 2014
We arrived a little earlier than the check in time of 13.00 but that was not a problem. The girl behind the bar was very well mannered, helpful and friendly. There were some elderly gentlemen in the bar who were local, they also made us feel very welcome and one of them very kindly gave us a lift to Whitby. We spent the afternoon in Whitby then went back to the Plough were we had a very nice meal and a pleasant evening in the bar with the staff and more locals. We then had a very good nights sleep followed by a cracking breakfast. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Great beer, good atmosphere, very welcoming pub. Food is average but don't let this put you off as you will not go away hungry. Could do with being a little better but had a good meal washed down with plenty of good ale. Will return soon.
