Hedgefield Guest House
Ranked #5 of 5 Sleights B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 September 2013

My wife & I, our friends Sue & Roger and other family members have had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful B&B in Sleights over a period of the last 5+ years, since our son Charlie was at University in Middlesborough.
The Hedgefield Guest House has become the benchmark that we judge other hotels & guest houses by.
Anne & Derek are the perfect hosts, and we have many experiences where they have just gone "that extra mile", to assure us of a trouble free stay.
The place is spotless, breakfast is wonderful! With all that home made bread, the lemon curd & other preserves, Have not been for a while, so must correct that very soon!
Thank you Anne & Derek, We look forward to our next stay!!

Our stay was wonderful. The room was delightful . We were made to feel very welcome. The food was wonderful with a lot of choice. The hosts were very helpful when we asked about places to visit. We had not stayed in this part of Yorkshire before. After staying in this b and b we will be coming back.

I have reviewed Hedgefield before, and my good opinion has been reinforced by a further stay this year - our fourth. Anne and Derek are the most welcoming hosts; they don't even seem to mind if you wreck the garden furniture! Is this the best B&B in the Whitby area? Yes, of course it is (well I haven't actually tried all the others, but why would you when you can come here!)

Room Tip: 'Endeavour' is at the rear overlooking the garden, and has great views.

Just home from a lovely relaxing break at our favourite guest house. This was our 5th visit and we received a warm welcome as usual from Ann and Derek. On arrival we were treated to tea and homemade Victoris Sponge cake in the conservatory.Bedrooms always lovely and a great place to relax and sleep. The breakfast is amazing.I love the homemade bread jams and preserves and my partner loves the full english breakfasts. They have won a breakfast award and it is fully deserved. The hospitality tray in the room is well stocked and fresh milk is delivered to your room night and morning. They are both happy to help with advice on places of interest to visit and nice places to dine.We look forward to our nest visit.

This Guest House is one of the nicest we have stayed in. The welcome we received was so friendly. Cup of coffee and home made chocolate orange cake on the terrace on arrival, Delicious.
Home made jams, bread, yogurt and granola for breakfast. The cooked breakfast was delicious. We all felt very at home and comfortable. Ann and Derek are really superb friendly hosts where nothing is too much trouble. We took our nephew with us who likes chilling in his room doing his colouring, Ann kindly supplied a little table for him so he could sit in his armchair, chilling, colouring and having his cup of coffee. Such kind consideration.
There was fresh milk if we required it in the evening as we returned from our day out and there was some more waiting for us outside our room in the morning.
The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotless and beautiful en-suites which again were spotless, lovely fluffy towels.
Very modern TV's in the rooms, although it doesn't bother us if there is a TV as we are on holiday and tend to read as you never seem to get the time at home, there are always other things to do. There were lovely armchairs where we could sit and read and look out onto the beautiful views. Very Peaceful and restful.
Ann and Derek's knowledge of the area is second to none. They recommended a pub called The Forge at Aisleby which was nearby. Wonderful evening meal, the gammon steak was beautiful. All the food was delicious and tasty.

We can understand why this Guest House has so many Excellent reviews, they are not wrong.

This guest house is situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors we would definitely have no hesitation in recommending this place as a base and we will definitely be going back - extremely good value and lovely hospitality. We certainly don't think you will get better and we will certainly stay at Hedgefield again.
Thank you so much Ann and Derek for such a lovely stay, it was a pleasure to meet you both.

We have stayed here three times this year and wouldn't stay anywhere else in this area. The welcome we received was very warm, the bedrooms are beautifully presented with great ensuite facilities. The breakfasts are delicious too. Great location to explore Whitby and surrounding areas. Can't wait to return x
