“Superb stay at such a remote location”
Reviewed 30 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We reached Losar at around 4 PM after a long and tiring journey from Manali and checked into Nomad's cottage.
The comfort and warmth you get at the Nomad's cottage after the bone rattling is priceless.
It's a small cottage with 5-6 cozy rooms with attached clean toilets and running hot water which is a Luxury in the Spiti Valley.
The cook Norbu, prepared delicious food for us. They served us the local dish Tigmo with local mix veg and daal.
Most of the time there was no electricity, so we used solar lamps provided by them. Don't forget to carry a torch/ flashlight when traveling to Spiti valley as electricity is also a luxury here.
Sahil, the owner of the property is the gem of a person who not only running the property nicely but also helping the travelers in planning their trip as well as to the local villagers on humanitarian grounds.
Our entire trip to Spiti was planned with his help and managed by him only.

“Sahil - Your go to guy for information on your Lahaul & Spiti trip”

We were a group of 7 friends who planned a trip to Lahaul & Spiti Valley in the first week of August 2015.

Having planned everything after doing our research online, we had everything booked and planned, including our one night stay at Nomad's Cottage. However, less than a week before our trip, one phone conversation with Sahil and our entire plan went topsy turvy - and thank God for that!

Sahil is your ultimate guide to Lahaul & Spiti Valley. Coming from Mumbai, we had no idea about the region. After hearing our original plan, Sahil made several recommendations and changes to ensure that our risk of coming down with AMS (Altitude Sickness) was minimal. While last minute changes are usually a cause for alot of frustration, the changes reccommended by Sahil were all followed by a simple 'Dont worry, I'll sort it out' and within 10 minutes, our entire plan was changed and finalized as well! I would highly recommend having a word with Sahil once before your trip for useful tips and contacts for the region.

Our stay at Nomad's Cottage was brilliant. The quaint little cottage in the tiny town of Losar - which is the first village after Kunzum Pass in the Spiti region - is a blessing after several hours of being on rather treacherous roads. The rooms are clean and tidy and some of them offer lovely views of the landscape outside. The staff is very attentive and the service is simple yet effective. The cottage is a short walk away from the river, where we sat and admired the beauty of the region.

I would recommend pre-booking meals at Nomad's as the food in the village is average and there aren't too many options. If you book in advance, the staff at Nomad's will whip up a simple yet delicious meal for you which is served in the lovely baithak area of the cottage.

Electricity is obviously very unpredictable in this area and hence, it is recommended that you carry a flash light with you. However, all the rooms at Nomad's are equipped with Solar lamps as well.

Overall, we had a very memorable stay at Losar and an even more unforgettable trip to Lahaul & Spiti. Thanks a ton to Sahil once again for all the help. If you are making a trip to Spiti, I would recommend a stay at Nomad's Cottage, Losar.

“The best place to stay in Losar!”
Reviewed 23 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We got a chance to stay at Nomad's cottage as part of our spiti itinerary and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a well maintained place decorated subtly using local and city elements. Very cozy and comfortable in harsh weather of Losar. The team is very helpful and attentive. Food is good but don't expect the normal city items here as the place is remote and there are limitations in what you get (mainly veg food with focus on local delicacies) . But the place is perfect to visit chandratal. You can start early at 7 and reach Chandratal by 11 AM easily. Overall highly recommended place if you plan to visit Chandratal.

“Nomads Cottage - A home away from home!”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Hi All,

Finished my road trip in the Spiti Lahaul region just yesterday. Nomads Cottage in Losar was by far the best place we stayed; at such a remote place tucked away in the upper Himalayas this guesthouse offers hospitality of top notch quality.

This guesthouse is managed by an enthusiastic guy - Sahil, who with the help of the local owners of this house has designed a brilliant ethnic place which combines the local charm/spirit of the Lahaul Spiti region with amenities like geysers, proper lightning, decor, emergency laterns et al. The room which we (3 of us) stayed was on the ground floor with ample space and comfort. It was spic n span with clear view of Losar through huge glass windows. I guess this is the best room in the guesthouse.

Also, after a hectic days outing to Chandertal the boys at the Nomads Cottage prepared awesome dinner for everyone. We played music through the night, had very interesting discussions with Sahil and other fellow travellers over drinks.

Overall an awesome place to stay and enjoy the serene location that is Losar. I recommend this place to everyone who is passing through the Lahaul-Spiti region.

5 stars all the way!!

Cheers,
Amit (Mumbai)

“"The Perfect Stay"”
Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Nomads cottage...truly an experience of comfort and warmth amongst the cool spectacular green valley! Most hospitable staff esp. Tenzin and team allowed us a glimpse of living in bliss without any agenda! The hotel has a character of an actual cottage with a cosy low seating (Tibetan) style of living space. Simply loved the Aaloo Paranthas, Momos and Namkeen Chai! to Sahil, for not only planning our entire trip of Spiti but also ensuring a smooth journey and stay at Losar. We traveled with our kids age10 & 5 who thoroughly enjoyed exploring the valley and walk up to the river side approx. 100mts from the property. Regret missing the trek to the Chandratal (which is organised by Sahil and team) ...Look forward to it the next time!

The Nomad's Cottage, Losar, Spiti Valley is one of hidden gems. Sahil at Nomads manages it real well and the arrangements will not disappoint you.

This holiday is one of the life changing experience in peaceful environment and makes you learn to be patience in life. You will appreciate how people are happy / helpful yet so simple and welcoming.

Nomads at Losar is beautiful property and fell delighted with all the arrangements, including food. Its situated just 500 mn away from Spiti River. You can spend entire day at the bank of river relaxing / chilling. The property is well maintained. All the rooms are cozy and everything placed at right location.

The staff is very helpful and provide all basic foods you required. The world outside is beautiful and you may spend hours looking at the landscape also at night you will experience clean blue sky and milky way, if get lucky.

Highly Recommended :-)

“Home@Losar :)”

Reached Losar on a cold evening. Light snowfall welcomed us too.
A perfect cuppa chaai was just what we needed and got. :)
And we instantly felt at home.

We entered into the 'glass room' which offered a spectacular view of the village of Losar and the snowcapped mountains. The room we had was spacious and clean.

The cottage from outside blends wonderfully well with the village-scape of Losar. From within as all you would require for a perfect stay.
Warm and hospitable people. Norbu and Tenzin worked really hard to make sure we had no troubles.

Sahil, thanks for all the help you extended to us. :)
You must contact him for any kind of guidance you might need to plan your trip in the region. Like many have before me have written...he can advice you for the best.

It was great to have food besides the fire in a traditional style seating in the dining room.
All food fresh and hot...just the way you need it. We were served tsacha (Tibetan butter salted tea), hot pakoras, paranthas, rajma chawal...and loads many delicious treats.

Leena, thanks for being such a wonderful host. We enjoyed our stay totally. You made us feel at home. :)

The Nomads Cottage and Losar is a place you would definitely want to come back. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant!!! We are sure to fondly remember the vacation we had here at TNC.
