Lakeview villa ia by far the best place to spend a vacation in Srilanka. Its location is breathtaking and accessible to an amazing view. The best part of our stay was meeting Sonali and Lathanta. The most helpful, generous and genuine people i have met. Sonali's food is sooo good and lathanta's bbq was delicious. 2 things that could be enhanced, are the garden and pool lights, where it gets so dim at night. Second thing is the entrance road which is too sloppy and narrow, we had a small accident on the scooter because of that. Apart from this, the stay is unbelievably good and stress-free !!
Lathanta and Sonali, thank you for making this vacation my best one! Cant wait to have brownies again:)
Lakeview is a very special place to stay. From the moment of booking communications with Lesley were excellent and very helpful answering all our questions including the important matters of tonic water and lemons! Our transfer from Colombo airport organised by Prageeth, the villa travel manger, was very smooth and comfortable. Arrival at the villa up a very narrow green lane was magical and the welcome from Sonali and Lasantha was warm and delightful. The villa itself is beautifully located, constructed and furnished. Everything has been worked out and it all works perfectly. The swimming pool is the jewel in a paradise garden. We had a lot of fun there and Sonali's cooking is world class. From the first mouthful we did not want to eat anywhere else. We had a few trips out - to Galle/Jungle Beach with Lasantha and a boat trip for four starting from the garden! Jungle Beach is highly recommended - particularly the second beach and the peace pagoda is worth a visit. The main thing to do though is to enjoy the company of family in the supremely relaxed setting of this fabulous villa, pool and garden. Early in the morning the view from the upper verandah is breathtaking and the jungle sounds from the birds and monkeys give an exotic impression we will never forget. If you like to watch or photograph birds, monkeys and chipmunks the verandah is a great hide - nature comes to you. Raja the gardener impressed us with his agility to pick fresh coconuts. Prageeth also provided our onward travel to Udawalawe and Haputale. Wholeheartedly recommended for groups of friends or family reunions.
We have spent time in villas in many parts of the world, and Lakeview was equal to all of them .
Why? Well it could have been the spacious accommodation , the simple but natural gardens with purple faced monkeys swinging in the trees, the infinity pool shared by the local kingfisher, the coconuts collected for us by the gardener or it could have been the skilled and delicious cooking and the kindness shown to us by Sonali and Lasantha.
All of these elements come together to make this holiday venue truly faultless and very very memorable.
Lakeview Villa is absolutely amazing! The first thing to wow me was the view, and the house was designed to maximize your view from everywhere. The bedrooms and en suites are very spacious. The king size beds are quite comfortable as well. The house is very well maintained and very clean. The house manager/chef, Sonali, is wonderful. She is a excellent chef and understands how to cater to children as well. She and Lasanta showed us how to make some Sri Lankan specialties as well. Sonali speaks excellent English and is you can tell she wants to make your stay the beat it can be. We rely enjoyed our stay here. The only suggestion i could make to improve things would be to put AC in the bedrooms. It does cool down quite a bit at night, but it would make it a bit.more comfortable. I would be more than happy to recommend Lakeview Villa!
the location is amazing, near enough to Galle and nearby beaches which are incredible but far enough away to have no road/rail noise. The villa sits on a promontory out into the lake and there are no other houses nearby, so very tranquil and difficult to tear oneself away from. Mosquitoes were not a problem at all and I think we saw more wildlife in the large garden than if we had been staying in a zoo !
The owners who were very helpful in arranging details such as transport have done an incredible job in building Lakeview Villa, but the real star of our weeks stay was Sonali and her husband Lasanthe. Sonali is the manageress on site and an absolutely brilliant cook, as a result we were treated to sumptuous breakfasts and dinners every night with Sonali doing all the shopping too. Sonali also gave us lots of local information over and above the already very comprehensive pack from the owners. We all had a fantastic stay and loved the food, people, country and will definitely return at some point to Sri Lanka.
I can't recommend Lakeview Villa highly enough.
We were a group of 5 people (across three generations, from age 9 to 71, from Australia and the UK) and we all had a wonderful two-week holiday at Lakeview Villa. Everything about our stay at the villa was perfect. From the initial booking to the day we left, we cannot fault a thing. Ken and Lesley (the owners) replied to all of our emails promptly and were very helpful with information and advice. The villa is huge and includes beautiful pieces of Sri Lankan art and architecture. We loved sitting around the pool, reading, swimming, watching the wildlife and staring out at the lake view; and on the days we ventured out for day trips and sightseeing, coming home to the villa felt like an oasis after the hustle and bustle of the roads. The true heroes are Sonali (the cook/housekeeper) and her husband Lasantha. Sonali's cooking is a treat to behold - the best Sri Lankan curries we've had. Nothing was ever a problem and they were always there when we needed them, but they were never obvious. In fact, they felt like family members. They organised transport and suggested outings. Raja the gardener was always on hand with a smile to cut a coconut and point out wildlife. The nearby beaches are beautiful (and as we come from Australia, we are fairly spoiled with our beaches), with great swimming and eating and all an easy tuk tuk ride. You will not regret booking Lakeview - we would love to come back.
From our first enquiry Ken and Lesley were really helpful and responsive. The villa was all we hoped for and more. It was comfortable and spacious with lovely views across Koggola Lake. We were a family group of three couples celebrating a 60th birthday. There was plenty of room if we wanted to be together and lots of spaces to go when we wanted to do our own thing. Sonali and Lesantha are a huge asset and couldn't do enough for us. We enjoyed their cooking, humour and hosting skills. One couple tried the cinema room a couple of times but the sound quality wasn't very good. The icing on the cake would be the addition of a ping pong table. The swimming pool was great though. There is plenty to do in the area and whilst we were there for two weeks, we would have happily stayed for another two. Hopefully we will get a chance to go back again. The two eeeks we were there exceeded our expectations. Thank you again for a lovely holiday.
