“Excellent hotel top service.”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

My wife and I have just returned from a two week's all inclusive holiday at the Luabay Marivent and had a fantastic time . On arrival at reception we were given a glass of bubbly, which was an unusual and a nice welcoming touch. Have to say nearly all the staff in the hotel were young but because of that they had great energy and where extremely friendly with a special mention from me and my wife goes to Marcello one of the barman , who we had a great relationship with and made me fantastic Whiskey sours your the man amigo ! As for Hotel we booked a Superior, sea view room overlooking the sea and beach room (1304 ) on the third floor , which was perfect as you also got the late afternoon sun so you can go up to you room around 3pm and sit up on the balcony until late in the day if you wish . As for the room itself agree with one person in another review , when they mention the room could do with drawers but everything else was excellent and lovely and clean with not just our towels but bed linen changed daily as well. However can understand some of the older people being worried about the shower as it could be a slip hazard with the water easily splashing outside of cubical (suggest rubber mat maybe) also loved the fridge which we took advantage off despite all inclusive as we we often have a glass or two of wine when we got back from the nightly entertainment. and sat on the balcony to drink it lovely . As mentioned went all inclusive and can only recommend this as if you are only half board that can be expensive with cocktails costing between 7 & 9 euros and glass of beer around 3.5 euros . All meals were excellent and varied. cant understand some people here as we where on a cruise with P&O Azura last year and it compared well with that and all meals where well supplemented with Chef's personally cooked choices of fish and meats and my wife loved the deserts which where lovely . The area around the hotel is old hasn't changed much since we where last there a few years ago not a great deal to be found but enough for basic requirements i.e your paper fags etc and a few good bars and few decent restaurants . The hotel was approx 15 mins bus ride into Palma , where either the no 3 or 20 would get you there and are an excellent and cheap (1.50 euro single) means of traveling into the centre which is a must as Palma is fantastic and cheap with it to . The entertainment at the hotel was fantastic especially Damien he had so much energy and got people of all ages dancing and singing also a mention for the Abba group, who we saw on out last night where fantastic including there clothes which looked very authentic . Would we go back yes as long as the staff was there because along with the Thompson rep Alex they made the holiday for us along with some nice people we we talked to over our two weeks.

Room Tip: Go all inclusive get sea view.

I have just returned from this hotel and have to say that my husband and I would have had a lovely time if it wasn’t for the weather. We were dead unlucky and it was overcast or raining for about 70% of the week we were there.

That aside, I thought it was a great place. The food was fine, the rooms were fine, the cleanliness was outstanding and the local area is completely Spanish which is very unusual in Spanish holiday resorts these days with the influx of Eastern European labour.

The sunbed situation was a pain in the neck, but after speaking to one of the hotel reps we just used the sister hotel next door and that was perfect. It was practically empty and in my humble opinion was even nicer. Of course, you couldn’t use the all inclusive in that hotel, but when I wanted water I would just pop next door and get some. It was fine. The beach was lovely too and the setting very picturesque.

One thing worth noting though is that about 80% of the couples were elderly and/or infirm and as I have never tried a ”couples hotel” before I don’t know whether that is the general rule.

I would not return though because for us, not having much sun rather spoilt the week, so in future we will look further afield for our holidays as Majorca’s weather is simply too unpredictable.

Had lovely holiday at this hotel. Waited for 2 hours for our room which gave us a chance to have lunch and a drink. We went All Inclusive which was a fantastic deal. Food was lovely. Usually bored after a couple of days of hotel food but at the Marivent, there was always something different to try. Was fun watching people grabbing sunbeds first thing in the morning. Very annoying though when you see towels etc on beds but no-one using them. Tried to nab a parasol one day as no-one there, they soon came out of the woodwork and said it was there's. This person then made a big deal of sitting there for 10 minutes then went again down to the beach.
Had problem with ants in our room on the first night, we were moved within half an hour of letting reception know. All the staff were lovely and polite. Alex the rep was always there for any info needed. Jimmy and entertainment staff were great fun. Also used spa on one day, had massage followed by Jacuzzi which overlooks the sea.
Room was gorgeous. Was previously worried about toilet layout etc but was no problem.
All in all a fab holiday.

Room Tip: We had superior room 1426, fantastic views.

We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday, The hotel was very clean and modern, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Thompson holiday rep Alex was brilliant, very polite and exceptional at his job. The entertainment at the hotel was fantastic especially Channice she was so lovely and always made me smile, by arranging quiz's and games, She made sure everyone at the hotel was ok and having a good time, there was no pressure at all to join in the games if u did not want too, Jimmy was also a member of the entertaiment team very funny and again a pleasure to meet. The food was fantastic so much choice !! Breakfast was everything u could think of, starting from cereals to full English breakfasts, ham, cheese, pastries, fruit. The hotel was approx 15 mins bus ride into Palma, Palma is beautiful loads of bars, shops, restaurants. I am so pleased we chose this hotel, absolutely fantastic. Lisa & David

There are some things in other reviews that it impossible to agree with. The walk from the coach is short and it is ridiculous to suggest it is down suburban wasteland : it's just a typical Spanish walkway to hotels. It's also over the top to say the shower and toilet area are insufficiently private: most people going to this hotel will be couples and, surely, can cope with the sight of their partner's shadowy figure behind frosted glass?
However, there are many things wrong with this hotel - most of which could be sorted out by stronger management. For example, we went all inclusive. What was deemed to be included at the bar changed every night. Nowhere was there any definitive guide. The room, while clean and comfortable, had a tv that would not function, no plug for the sink, and intermittent hot water. Fresh towels didn't always arrive until chased. No amount of requests with reception got the room faults fixed.
Other reviews have noted the totally inadequate number of pool lounges. Seating in the bar area is also limited. It is also unreasonable in my view for hotel claiming to be 4 star to charge for room safes and not offer free - or at least cheap - internet access (they expect 4 euros an hour for an iffy signal).
Positives included decent food (though a bit samey) and the proximity to a beautiful beach.
The resort itself is tired and has no charms. Suffice to say if you, like us, get a very cheap offer on this hotel then it's ok for a week in the sun. If you're asked to pay full price then avoid like the plague - there are so many nicer places to go.
We went with Thomson Holidays and, incidentally, didn't warm to the rep who seemed to us (and other we spoke to) to be somewhat dissmissive.

Thank you very much for your review about your stay with us. We are sorry that there were some issues with you room and hope that the TV, the missing plug and the water did not ruin your holidays. Thank you for pointing out that there seems to be a lack of information concerning which drinks are included in the all-inclusive program. We will talk to our staff and make sure everyone has the same information. We truly hope you enjoyed your stay despite the negative points you are mentioning.

Just returned from the Luabay Marivent and was quite disappointed.
Classed as a 4 star, but most definitely not...try a Riu for comparison!

Good Points:
Comfortable Beds
Reception deal with room problems quickly
Breakfast varied
Alex te rep was helpful and helped with my wife's case to the coach when leaving (she's disabled)

Bad Points:

Poor decor for a newly refurbished hotel
Open planned bathroom/Toilet including no door to shower, causing water to run out making the floor dangerous and slippery
Ants in the room which ended up getting in our clothes. Excuse from hotel was ' if you have food in your room it will attract them'. They then provide sugar with the kettle which is just as bad.
No drawers in the room
Advertised Reggae on the Beach at dinner and proceeded to also have a singer in the pool bar at the same time, which is next door
Entertainment was all about singers with no variety
Not in Palma as advertised
If you are not AI the drinks are over priced
Single lifts, not helpful for wheelchairs
Leaking roof between restaurant and pool bar which continued to drip and was not cordened off. Guests were still able to walk that way and all that was put down was a sign saying 'wet floor'
Main meals not always hot and geared up for fish and seafood lovers
Stairs leading to the dining room had bits of stone missing and other parts that were mended had pieces of wood underneath holding it up.

All in all for a newly refurbished hotel it was very poor and the owners need to look at other chains of succesful hotels to gain knowledge on keeping the 4 star

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view directly through the hotel

Read the reviews before we went on holiday and was a little apprehensive. No need to have been, wonderful hotel. The accommodation was very comfortable, spacious and spotlessley clean (the cleaning staff work so so hard). Recommend Superior Sea View room you get a fantastic view. The food - everything you could think of and everything cooked and presented to a very high standard - could not fault it. The restaurant staff are very pleasant and always cheerful. Just to mention Sandy who is so sweet and Jimmy who is one of the coolest dudes I have ever met of the entertainment staff (sorry you didn't like the zero alcohol beer!!!), put themselves out to make sure all the guests are asked to join in activities. If you don't want to join in they make a point of coming over and having a chat with you at some point through your holiday. Damien, what can I say, I can listen to you all day and night. Marcello! You work too hard, such a nice guy. All the bar staff work very hard. Alex the rep is very pleasant, witty, helpful and informative. I must say there are a lot of Victor Meldrews out there, stop spending so much time looking for things to moan about and enjoy your holiday, life is too short and if you can afford to go away on holiday think about all the people who can't!

Room Tip: Book a Superior Sea View Room well worth it.
