We arrived late on a Saturday night with no food and no prospect of getting any near where the apartment is. Our very kind hosts, Loreta and Lewis, drove us into Las Palmas to get a take away and waited to bring us back. They then told us that at this end of the island the shops are all shut on Sunday. By now it was past 10pm so all the food shops were shut until Monday morning. We were here with our family including four young children and no prospect of being able to feed them. A few minutes later our hosts turned up at the door with two trays laden with food for us and our family to tide us over until Monday. Loreta has also repeatedly to offered to give us lifts if we need them or do shopping for us. Kindness itself.
The apartment itself is lovely. Spotlessly clean and because it is built into the hill and so similar to a basement it keeps quite cool even in the heat. There is plenty of room and the whole space feels light and airy and is tastefully decorated. A car is really advisable as there are no immediate amenities nearby. The nearest supermarket is only about 8 minutes drive but the hill back up is very steep and windy, like most of Gran Canaria. We have been very happy here.
