My husband and family have stayed at The Palms Hotel countless times. In fact, since Christmas we have taken 7 or so separate bookings over Christmas Day/Boxing Day as well as weekends (often just one night due to work etc). Although there are countless hotels to stay in this proximity, The Palms offers excellent service from all their staff, right from greeting on arrival, bell porter, pool staff, restaurant staff through to senior management. I am always touched they always remember our 4 year old daughters name and go above and beyond to enlighten her stay.

The hotel is extremely well appointed in extensive large well maintained gardens with several ponds with small fish. The pool is a super size and as the majority of the pool is not too deep there is a vast area for small kids and non swimmers to cool off and have fun. Additionally as the pool wraps around a sitting area on the ground floor of the hotel, there is often a large shaded area over the pool for those wanting to cool off yet not catch the sun.

Furthermore, there is a large reef off the beach a very short walk from the hotel which can be enjoyed all year round.

The buffet offers a great selection of food, however if you are after something specific you only need ask. During our stay last weekend we noted many children and requested fried rice dish be available at the buffet for not just our child but all the children, and it was there just as we asked. If you are after a seafood spread they have a separate restaurant by the beach where you can order ala carte.

Rooms are very clean and more than adequate, wifi, tv, tea/coffee etc are all available, room service is also prompt.

We highly rate this hotel, we only wish we are able to find time to stay more nights each time we go.

We thank all the staff for your warm welcome and our outstanding hospitality - we look forward to staying with you again soon!

Room tip: All rooms have ocean/beach view, many also have pool view. The hotel has a lift and ramps so is highly recommended for wheelchair guests.

I booked this hotel for an early celebration for my mom's birthday. We had to wait a little until the rooms were ready.
The good things about the place were the clean big pool, decent rooms that served the purpose a private beach a few meters away adjoining the hotel. The best part of our stay was the kitchen staff. We had other plans for her but when we walked in for dinner they had a table beautifully decorated with Happy Birthday written in coloured rice. After dinner the hotel staff carried a small cake lit with sparking candles to our table for my mom to cut. We all were surprised and my mom was very delighted. Such a sweet gesture from the hotel staff after only mentioning that we were coming to celebrate her birthday. We hadn't told them to do any of these. Special thanks to Mr.Raj, the F&B manager.

Food was average, nothing to complain about. Desserts were good. The food during lunch (which was a set menu) was very good.
We requested for a late check out asking for an hour extension but our request wasn't accommodated even though there were hardly any guests in the hotel while we checked-out.
Overall it is a good hotel to relax in if you are looking for a short break close to Colombo.

I arrived with my family(9 including me) at the the plam beruwala on the 21st June to stay for 3days and 2nights. We booked 5 rooms.
We arrived to a warm welcome at the reception, given refreshments, rooms were sorted quickly and we were briefed regarding our various privileges and on the restaurant timings.
The view from the room is amazing. A clean lawn is maintained right outside with a private pool. The room is lavish.. Spacious with large sitting areas..
The food was delicious most of the time. The buffet had a variety of choices but my favorite was the lamb chop from their A La Carte menu... Hats off to the chef..
The view from the room is hypnotic.. Sensational... With the see visible on one side..
.
THE MOST STRIKING STANDOUT FEATURE OF THIS HOTEL AND THE REASON I WILL RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO EVERYONE I KNOW IS THE HOSPITALITY OF THEIR STAFF.. They provide you with a first class service with special regard to the service provided at the restaurant. They will make u feel at home no matter where you come from. Special thanks to Front office Team Thank you for your service.. Had a lovely stay. Will come soon.

We went with a group there. we had a very bad experience on arrival . my niece made a booking for us, she made a separate reservation on line and my in low made a direct booking through the hotel . when we reached to the hotel baggage boy gave us a warm welcome and take us to the check in , it was two separate booking and our 3 rooms not in their system . after that my in-low called to the front office manager , he made a direct booking with her .
very politely my niece and in low spoke that lady regarding our balance 3 rooms. she refused our request and made a very unpleasant big noise . we were all got upset becoze she was continuously made a big haho . Between the conversation her busy with her couple of mobile phones as well. It seems her given more attention for her calls and messages rather than our issue.
luckly one lady came from inside and observed our matter . he must be from senior management that time my in low played the voice record of the conversation which was recorded while making the room reservation . he made a reservation with that front office manager and she realized her voice and passed the complaint to her poor staff . finally Senior manager involved the matter , she apologized and upgraded my inlow to the suite room and managed to accommodate our balance rooms also. that lady not suitable for hospitality industry at all . she doesnt know how to handle the customers . better send her for a training . Otherwise if her staff follow her way hotel reputation will destroy with out doubt. We wondering how come still front office staff doing grateful services under her. 4**** given to the staff services and facilities . Thank you . 318.310. 311. 315 . Thank you again that senior manager for make our holiday great experience.

There were not many guests when we were staying there and the beaches are clean and no people around. Most of the shops along the beaches are not open. If you like to have a quiet and clean beach, this is a good time and place. The restaurants around that area are mostly closed so after the bombing incident; as such the only options of food are from hotels.
