After having a little confusion with the booking and our rooms as our 4th person cancelled. They moved a mattress on to the floor in one room so we could all stay together! (I didn't mind the floor) bedding was clean and we got a towel(which not all hotels provide in Kavos)! And although it wasn't changed all week. It wasn't that much of an issue as we were lucky to have one! The staff especially Jo and Lisa were amazing as were the reps! The loo roll runs out you buy more. But it's so cheap and every hotel is the same! I dont have one bad word to say about the complex!! Other than not having a kettle (not that we would have used it :) and the food in the pool bar was cheap and yummier than some of the places on the strip!! And a bonus the location being seconds from Buzz, 42nd Street and SNOBS! < some of the best bars in kavos! Would 100% recommend!! And looking to go back next year!! Thanks for having us!!!

Stayed at afrodite from the 5th-12th August 2013 and couldn't have had a better time. The staff were brilliant: Jo, Shell, Sophie, Chloe, Lisa... the list goes on. They were so brilliant in fact that they would happily take us up to bed almost every night when we were in no fit state to climb the stairs to our room. The atmosphere was great for the whole week as everyone got on and had a good time. Food was better than most places on the strip and was cheap as chips. We loved it so much that we're thinking about booking up for august 2014. Look out Jo!!! Geordie lads... What aboooooooot it :).

This so called hotel was dirty overpriced and staffed by backwards rude people who would swear at you and barge past you when complain. The food was shockingly poor but extortionate priced. I have complained to thomas cook about the experiance as the hotel is meant to be escapades but the rep was not interested in talking or answering questions its probably because i wasn't a lad who she could throw herself at. I felt ripped off and mad that im paying for there wage as they don't deserve to make a living as hotel owners when you can't even approach them about the dirty states of the rooms which were mopped with a old re used mop. Luckily it was close to the strip so could go somewhere decent and spend as little time there as possible. Would not recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy there holiday

Please refer to the management reply on your friends post stating 'dirty rooms'.

Thomas Cook have no recollection of a complaint made from yourselves but as stated previously, Thomas Cook do have a report from us regarding yourselves.

From the aggressive tone of your particular review speaks volumes and also reflects Afrodite COMPLEX'S (not HOTEL) management reply of your friend.

Having been to kavos before I sort of knew what to expect. But to be honest this holiday was the best lads holiday I have been on. The accommodation had all the basic amenities and was cleaned daily to a satisfactory level. The staff around the hotel were amazing and Jo and her staff were the most pleasant and understanding people. They went out of their way to please everyone. Food was amazing and priced even better. There were a few moans and groans from other guests expecting 5* treatment but what do you expect from a 18-30 holiday? Spa treatment? Cos surely I don't. The rep Kirsty was unbelievably helpful and would deal with any problem we had. We also met a load of great people and are looking to book up with them in the near future to go back again next year.

Myself and 3 friends came to aphrodite hotel 19th-26th August 2013 and it was hell from the start. The rep 'Kirsty' is no use at all. Unless you are a group of lads she can buck, she doesn't have an interest in you!!
When we arrived we were happy with the location, just 30 secs from the strip it seemed perfect. We were shown to our apartment and at first we were so excited about the space and the rooms location right by the pool.
Upon inspecting the room, we were soon disappointed. It looked like it needed a good clean, the pillows had no cases, the upstairs toilet didnt flush, the upstairs lights didn't work, the sheets seemed unclean. We went and informed the owner about the toilet and was told it would 'be fixed soon'.
Three days later, the maintainance man came and had a look at the toilet and said he would be back with the parts to fix it. This never happened.
The maid who came to clean the room came every other day. All she did was throw our things into cases, mop a part of the floor with a dirty smelly mop and that was all. When we asked her for more toilet roll we were told this was something we had to supply ourselves, despite paying £2000 between us for the holiday.
Throughout the week in our room we had mosquitos, frogs, crickets, spiders, moths and wasps. We had so many as our apartment backed right onto an open field. One of the girls in our group was bitten so badly because of this, she had to pay 200 euro for medical treatment and be put onto an IV drip as her bites were so badly infected!!
On the final day when it came to checking out and getting our 50 euro deposit back we were told we weren't going to get this back. When we asked the owner why she was very aggressive and confrontational in our faces accusing of stealing pillowcases which we never even had!! She was very intimidating shouting in our faces backed up by a male colleague of hers which was very scary to argue our point with. When we saw our rep Kirsty, we asked for her help but she stood aside idly not helping us in a scary situation.
Eventually, after arguing the point for a good 30 mins and us stating we had put up with a lot and not complained ie with the toilet and lights, the owner shouted 'get your money and go away'. She made our last day in the hotel scary and very stressful. We were told to wait on the street for our transfer even though it was an hour away and we had no money left to sit inside a cafe or anything so just had to sit in the hot sun.
Kavos is a great 18-30 holiday, its just a shame the hotel and staff let it down.

Room Tip: DO not go for rooms 20 or 21!!

Bailaki, Staff at Afrodite Complex, responded to this reviewResponded 1 September 2013

Dear Nottingham Girls

In response to the inaccurate review and acting on behalf of The Afrodite Complex, please find details below the correct events that occured:

1. Afrodite is a Complex not a hotel.

2. Due to the quick turnover from guests departure dates to the next arrivals, the Complex tries its upmost to replace breakages etc, caused by previous guests. There is a very limited timeframe but most breakages are replaced straight away, others prove more difficult as in your case with the toilet. The toilet was fixed the next day and apologies were made.

3. Something that we find hard to comprehend is the fact that you stated there was no cases on every single pillow. We find it very unusual that the maid would forget to put cases on the pillows as laundry is one of her main duties. Maybe the make-up fairy came and threw them all away! The maid carries out all her duties to a satisfactory level. No complaints were made on the first day you entered your rooms to state this fact. Instead, a dustpan and brush was requested at the Pool Bar from yourselves and when asked 'why', your reply was that you had smashed some glass.

4. On your first night at Afrodite COMPLEX, your all decided to proceed to remove the upstairs mattress, drag it downstairs and lay it on the floor.

5. You state you were surrounded by Wildlife!! Well, Corfu, like everywhere else in the world contains wildlife. This is called NATURE! Unfortunately, Corfu has mosquitoes, something the Afrodite COMPLEX cannot control. There are the unfortunate ones that have allergic reactions to them. This is not the fault of the Afrodite COMPLEX or any other human being in fact, this is the fault of NATURE!

6. The 'open field' as you state at the back of your apartment is in actual fact a small allotment owned by the next door neighbours in which they grow a wonderful selection of fresh vegetables and salads.

7. One of your nights stay, you all proceeded to jump into the pool at night. You were told by the owner not to do so for safety reasons. You all laughed in her face. This is a 50 euro fine, but the fine was NOT charged to yourselves.

8. Listed below is why the Afrodite Complex required to keep your 50 euro deposit:

2 Sheets, damaged
1 Chair, damaged
5 pillow cases, disappeared into thin air

This was given back to you in the end due to your derogatory/bulllying behaviour to the owner.

9. The Rep, Kirsty and the Afrodite Complex have an excellent working relationship. She works to the best of her ability and carries her work out well. She makes ALL guests feel welcome.

10. Numerous guests staying the same time as yourselves complained to the owner at the belligerent attitudes you all held. As a consequence, they felt very uncomfortable in all of your presence.

11. On your final day, witnesses around the pool at the time saw all of you surround the owner, shouting and laughing in her face. This was intimidating behaviour on all levels. The guests and staff were angry at this and stated that THEY were scared and annoyed at all of your behaviour.

12. Witnesses heard you say to Kirsty, the Rep, that you were all going to wait in a cafe and that she was to go and get you all when the coach arrived. She told you that she was unable to do this due to it being transfer day and it was her busy time. Guests usually remain in the Complex until 5/10 minutes before departure and the Afrodite COMPLEX did not request them to leave and go elsewhere.

13. As for 'left with no money', two of you came to the pool bar and had a bacon and cheese toastie and a portion of toast, paid for by yourselves. Due to the bullying the owner received from you all, 50 euro was returned to you!!! Calculations tell us that you were all at least 50 euro in pocket.

14. At the pool bar, you were asked if you had a nice holiday, your reply was 'yes, we have'!

15. A report has been made and documented regarding all of your belligerent attitudes towards the owner, staff and guests. You all made it very unpleasant for guests staying at the time and staff working at the Afrodite COMPLEX.

The owner and staff of the Afrodite take pride in the Complex. We go beyond all measures to make all our guests feel welcome and make sure that they have a pleasant holiday.

Yours faithfully

Look lets face it- you get what you pay for. Dont expect 5 star ritz. But it being clean should be a prerequisite if you are offering a hotel service.

I have stayed in worse hotels in London who claim to be 3 stars.

When I checked in they were still cleaning the room so because of this the cleaning may have been compromised.

I am a clean freak and I got by... just. Although I did buy my own cleaning products to give the place a once over.

Upon check in you pay a 50 euro deposit- if you damage anything- for this reason always establish at the beginning by having an inspection of your room with someone of authority.
Do not vomit on the sheets or have blood on them as this may forfeit your despot.

I brought my own towels and own sheets anyway- their towels could have done with an even hotter wash as their was tiny blood stains that hadnt come off.

The complex is FINE however it just needs a thorough clean- elbow grease attention to detail which really goes a long way-

On one hand I understand why such care may not go in to cleaning the place thorough- its young boozed up brits who will damage the place and have little conceern and disregard of their surroundings- so why bother. HOWEVER dont bite the hand that feed you; without these drunk brits you have no business.

Kavos has a stench to it; drainage, vomit, piss coupled by the humid conditions unfortunately this translates into your rooms- you get used to it

dont look at the mattress- ever. It doesnt come with a mattress cover so who knows what bed bugs and invisible sins is on that mattress

the toilet brush was an apology - still had excrement from the previous owner- Thats not really a nice welcoming.

Its right on the strip so you dont have to walk far; noise should not be a problem as you are out enjoying the music , but they do play music by the pool so get your sleep between 6am-8am and your fine.

Above all the staff are friendly and they make you feel welcome- you get out of what you make of it- if you came with the right people and the correct frame of mind then KAVOS is the place for you as its cheap and the food is beyond excellent. Its perfect
