“An excellent hotel for young families”
Reviewed 10 August 2010

An excellent hotel with enthusiastic, friendly staff.

Good food, excellent rooms. In fact I paid for a suite but we had to spend the first few nights in a standard room because of a fault with the suite. I would say that the standard room is very good and if I had known I wouldn't have bothered paying extra for the suite.

The staff were very apologetic when this problem occurred and have refunded the difference as well as offering free car hire by way of compensation.

Being right on the beach meant no busy roads for children to cross. In addition the pool and water slides were great fun.

However I wouldn't recommend this hotel for teenagers/young adults as it is quiet at night with not much else around.

We stayed for 2 weeks with our son who is 2 years old and a friendly couple with small child also. Here is the review!
Service -
at the ARETE restaurant, very good - special thanks to Gregory, Andreas and Emi who did their best in serving us.
at the OLIVE restaurant - ok, we booked, no one mentioned we needed to specify that we wanted to stay outside so we had to stay inside (we were the only ones) since they could not clean an available table outside.
at the beach bar - very good in the morning, no receipts for items not included in all inclusive were issued in some occasions.
at the beach - excellent maintenance of the sunbeds, umbrellas and towels.
Suggestion: Since there are many families with small children there should be more highchairs available since there were only 4 and we had to run to get one.
Cleaning
- the beach needs to be cleaned from sea weeds more frequently, the same can be done about the sea
- the room - I had to call in several occasions to have the room cleaned before the afternoon nap of my son
-gardens - VERY well maintained and BEAUTIFUL
-playground - well set and maintained
Food Quality
Breakfast - good selection, no fresh squeezed juice, no baby food such as yoghurts
Lunch - poor, menu needs to have more selections
Dinner - good selection
Also, there are flies inside and bumble bees outside the restaurant area.
Air Conditioner
Our child was sick from the air conditioner since it was preset at 24 degrees with high blow. The hotel should offer the possibility to change the conditioner temperature according to the needs.
Entertainment
Fram are nice but at lunch and nap time VERY LOUD. We had to close the balcony doors in order to get some sleep. Unfortunately there is a lot of French entertainment and if you dont know French you can not follow. The animator of kids was amazing!!!
Overall, we paid 211euros/night - with the service we got the price should have been lower.

Having stayed with the Aquis chain in Corfu before, we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed! This newly renovated addition to the chain proved to be a real gem. We had a fantastic stay at this superb hotel. Great location - right on the beach, with shallow waters up to 75 yards out. Plenty of sunbeds available both at the pool area and on the beach even late on in the day. We found the staff to be very motivated and attentive to everyone's needs with genuine enthusiasm to provide good service. This is a hotel where they genuinely want to do well.
We always enjoyed eating in the restaurant and found the food to be of a very good quality. The Olive Tree a la carte restaurant was also lovely and definitely worth a visit.
Can't comment on the evening entertainment as we spent our evenings in the very peaceful (and air-conditioned) Thea Lobby Bar where Slouvka took great pride in looking after all the guests.
We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this wonderful hotel.
Thank you very much to Mr Acopolous and his wonderful staff, every one of whom deserves an individual mention.

We did a last minute booking as we were needing some time off
after a busy period. We could have done with somewhere for adults only
because we didnt realise just how many kids would be there or that
there is entertainment all day long around the pool and beach which takes the peace and quiet away. Its great for families with children because they really involve them in lots of dancing and miming to music, they even have a theatre where the shows are performed.
Lots of French people. some germans and some English.
The food is bland but good quality, the wine and beer is of very poor standard so we had to buy bottles from the restaurant at £25 each. The coffee and tea are pretty bad too.
If you want great food do not go here because its very basic, though saying that we enjoyed the greek salad served everyday.......though after ten days I could happily never
lay my eyes on one again.
We did also find it a bit cut off and caught the bus to Corfu town which is an hour away
and worth the trip for a really authentic greek meal in a taverna thats been there for over a 100 years. We also took the bus a few times to the local beach in Lefkimme
where to our amazement was a man swimming in the sea with his pet goose!
the water was very clear, and lots of locals, you can hire a beach lounger and umberella for 2 Euros, but the food here is not great, but the coffee is good.
The hotel is nice and set in good grounds but the rooms are small and the bathroom tiny with toilet and shower far too close, also they are all fitted with glass doors which
is rather wierd if you enjoy privacy (which I do!).
The staff are friendly but none of them local, they bring in students from Poland in the dining hall and France for the entertainment, its a shame they cant support the local economy as there are a lot of empty shops and places on the nearby roads,
but apparently this is happening as the all inclusives capture the you and you are less likely to spend elsewhere.

We have just returned from 10 days at the Aquis Capo di Corfu. It's got lovely discreet rooms laid out in a series of garden villas with a mezzanine floor for the kids. Very modern, well equipped rooms (flat screen TVs, DVDs). Great pool and pool bar and right on the sandy beach. Also there's a kids club and pool with 2 slides. Food for an all-inclusive package was plentiful and good. Good range of drinks for the all-inclusive package - including cocktails - although the wine could have been a touch better! There is also an a la carte restaurant (the Olive Tree) for which you get a free pass one night - but probably not worth bothering with otherwise as the main restaurant is fine. About an hour and a quarter to the airport. There is not much around the hotel - although its short walk to Kavos (yuck!) if you have older teenagers or Lefkimi (much nicer). You can walk along the beach from the hotel in 15 mins - if you don't mind clambering over the dunes a bit - to get the ferry to the Greek mainland.

Staff are all very friendly - especially good reception. All-in-all we had a fabulous time. One criticism, it advertises it has a gym in some literature but it doesn't. That would be a good addition for next year!

The first place we have ever been where the pics were not as good as the actual location. Where do I start, well I guess the beginning is as good as anywhere. We arrived early in the morning of the 27th of July after the last flight out of Manchester the night before, so strictly speaking we should not have had our room until 3.00 pm that day, this did not seem to matter that much and by the time we had our breakfast and a quick stroll around to see what was there, our room was ready for us. This really set the standard for everything at the hotel, in that nothing was too much trouble, the staff are totally focussed on delivering the best holiday experience they can. My wife and I like to do a lot of walking, however I gained an injury on the flight in, which meant the only place I could go was the hotel grounds, so for once we saw pretty much everything the hotel had to offer. Firstly there are a lot of French people who holiday here, not surprising as a French company owns 50% of the hotel. There were quite a few different nationalities who were holidaying at the hotel when we were there, and certainly all the people we spoke to were good people. The amount of sunloungers seemed to far outnumber the number of people there and you have a choice of poolside, or beach for chillin out, trust me, both were great. We, as I guess most other people who were there were on "all inclusive" and certainly with the people at this hotel it seemed to work well. Mealwise, we had no complaints, however some people were unhappy. For me, you are going on holiday to Greece, not Blackpool, if you want egg and chips morning noon and night, then don't go to foreign countries, dead easy. My wife is quite choosy as regards food, but she was very happy with the choice we had, it was well cooked, well presented, no worries. I have seen one or two moans about staff being "surly", never saw any like that myself and that was despite the restaraunt looking like a human M25 on some mealtimes. All the staff we dealt with at mealtimes were superb, all very pretty girls and good looking lads, but they were all very good at their jobs, especially Emi who nearly always served my wife and I. Barstaff like-wise were very good, always a nice smile and a good suggestion for a drink. The layout of the place is very good as all the rooms are in little "cottage" style buildings of perhaps 8 rooms or so. Because of this, the hotel site looks like a small village and only adds to the experience of the holiday in a positive way. Most of the walkways are lines with attractive plants and bushes and olive trees, most of which had olives on them throughout the week we were there. If you have children, then there is no issue there either, there is plenty for them to do, with kids clubs and water slides and competitions run by the animation team who work very hard and do a fantastic job. Night-life is a bit quiet, but the animation team do put on shows in the theatre and there are a couple of bars on the complex. There is life outside the hotel complex and there are one or two bars local, but if you are on all inclusive, there is not much point in going to them really. As I say, I was in a state where I could not walk more than about a 100 yards at a go, so going off the complex was a bit of a non-starter anyway. What is worth me saying at this point is that for a number of years my wife and I have had our holidays by cruising and we have become used to the standards of service we have had on those holidays, this hotel is the first we have visited which has managed to match those standards. Now before anyone thinks "snobby so and so" snobs we are not, we just believe that when you pay your money, you should be treated as per the advertisments say, and not led down a path of broken promises and sub-standard service. We would both like to revisit This hotel again, hopefully without me being a injured party. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday with a fantastic setting, in great rooms, with good food and drink, and a marvellous staff, then this is the place to go............................If you don't, then go elsewhere.
