“Nice staff and beach, Great place to dive!”
Reviewed 31 May 2009

Have been to different island in Greece, the hotel staff in Ios are very nice. Besides the location is very good. The rooms are quite simple but view is beautiful, and Milopotas was the best beach in medium season at IOS. There are two pools, with ocean water.
Besides, was the BEST place to dive in Greece, 35 meters of visibility, and less expensive then other islands. You can book directly with the hotel or go to Mylopotas New Dive.

The hotel was fantastic. We were picked up by the hotel, our ferry was delayed and they knew about it and showed up right at the right moment.

Staff was fantastic and they placed us in a big suite with a gorgeous beach view.

It is located away from the main village Chora. You can walk there in 15 minutes (watch out for crazy drivers though). Bus can take you there as well, it stops right by hotel.

We really did not do much in Ios other then relaxed from ancient ruins by the pool.

We stayed in the Ios Palace for about a week in July 2008. On our first night we stayed in a “Happy Room”, which was pretty small, in poor condition and noisy. Then we moved to one of the suites at the top of the hill for the next five nights. This cost more than twice as much as the Happy Room, but the contrast was enormous. The suite was spacious, tastefully decorated, with pretty good views of the bay and Milopotas beach below. It had two separate rooms, both with beds, the room nearest the balcony having a sofa, flat-screen TV, hi-fi and kitchenette. The building and balcony are made from the local white marble, which as well as being beautiful also serves to keep things cool on the hot summer days. The balcony was also spacious, with a comfortable covered day-bed, a table and chairs, two sunloungers, as well as a fresh-water plunge-pool. I appreciated the latter very much, as the hotels’ two main pools contained sea water, in which I do not enjoy bathing.

The main pools look very nice, despite the saltiness of the water. One is on the ground floor of the hotel, near to the lobby and restaurant. It has very comfortable white sofas around it and there is a pool bar (though the drinks there are relatively expensive). From this level, you have a good, slightly elevated view of the beach. The other pool is higher up in the hotel’s “amphitheatre” and is very attractive with incredible views. There are also covered day-beds here, though the upholstery was pretty dirty.

The staff were not overly friendly, with the exception perhaps of some of the front desk staff, but it was high season and I am sure that they were over-worked. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, near the hotel’s entrance and pool. The buffet wasn’t bad and we were able to order freshly cooked eggs from the kitchen. We didn’t eat in the hotel’s restaurant as we preferred to go outside, but we had a nice snacky lunch by the pool once. Another good place for lunch is the taverna at the far end of the bay.

The hotel is located at one end of a bay not too far from Ios town, though it’s definitely not walking distance and there is a steep hill. We took taxis mainly, but there aren’t many licensed taxis on the island, so it’s a good idea to book one in advance when you can. The way the hotel is laid out, you may have to do quite a bit of walking up and down slopes and stairs, though there is a lift to help you along part of the way.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here, but probably wouldn’t have if we’d stayed in the Happy Room the whole time. I’d recommend going for one of the suites out of season when they aren’t too expensive and the beach and hotel aren’t too crowded. When in Ios, we recommend a day-trip to Manganari bay (boats depart a few times a day from Ios port), which has a beautiful white sand beach with a mountainous backdrop, clean turquoise waters, as well as a few tavernas.

The resort itself is great the staff are friendly and very helpful and its very relaxing by the pool.

The room is ok although i have realised that European standards are not quiet the same as what we have back at home seeing how a Superior room over their would not even be a standard in Australia but the room overall was fine with a little balcony overlooking the hotel pools and beach. We had a room above the top pool which was really nice because there wasnt too many people ever using that pool and they still had a ring up pool service for drinks and food.

The one problem was the wasps and mosquitos. Because the hotel is surrounded with flowers it attracts heaps of wasps, i noticed that the main herd of wasps hung by the main pool and bar so i was safe near the top pool cause there is not as many flowers. The wasps hung around the syrups used to mix the alcohol so it wasnt very enjoyable sitting by the bar to have a drink because i was petrafied of the wasps. However i did notice that no one ever got stung they seem to be used to people hitting them away. One thing that i was disgusted by was that even though breakfast was served inside the door was left open so you could go out by the pool but the wasps got inside where the food was and were inside the jars with all the fruit it was revolting!

Another warning we slept with the balcony doors open the first night and woke up at 4am because we had been eaten alive my mosquitos. So make sure you use the mosquito net provided and the repelent that is left in your room. And doors closed after sun set!

Overall if your not affraid of insects its a great place close to the centre of town and next door to the beach.

Great location, beautiful views.
The room was smelly (humidity) and the bathroom was DIRTY.
If you go ask for one of the new rooms (near the upper pool).

Apart from the nice location- that offers the possibility to stay calm and in 5 minutes be in the center of fun- and the facilities, I was really amazed by the kindness of the staff. All of them were really friendly and willing to offer their best services.
I will definitely come back next year and also recommend it to my friends.
Keep up the good job.

Cocktail in hand, cool vibes playing, chilling on a bed by the pool, watching the sunset on the aegean sea with the left eye, and watching the Olympics on a massive screen with the right eye, you experience it all.
We loved this hotel, and didn't regret a minute of choosing to be in Greece for 2 weeks instead of Beijing. My hubby pulled a muscle in Naxos carrying my suitcase so we arrived with heavy bags and an immobile husband, but the staff organised EVERYTHING for us, drove us to the medical center AND organised a masseuse for my husband.
The breath taking views, friendly service and the chic look of the hotel managed to heal hubby's injury and in no time we hit the water sports located at front of the hotel..and guess what? he pulled another muscle. Anyway, if you want exceptional service, quality and romantic atmosphere (for those you have fit husbands),this is the place. It is our favourite hotel so far on the Greek islands.
