Esonstad is really well built and beautifully situated, if you are ment to visit the area or just to rest. At the park itself is very little to do. With small children you can have fun in the pool and at the playgrounds, but otherwise not.
Nonetheless there is much to see in the area. Leeuwarden and Groningen are easily accessible by car, and Schiermonnikoog can be visited by boat. It is also highly recommended to rent bikes. You can follow numbered routes and cycle through beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages, such as Moddergat.
The houses are reasonably new and build in such a way, it's like you're staying in a typical dutch village. The interior of the home is modern and it was very clean. We had a deluxe home with sauna and jacuzzi, but we didn't used it. The sauna is so small that you can get claustrophobia and the jacuzzi is so noisy that you can't get relaxed.
The garden was beautifully situated on the water, just not very overgrown, but that's because everything is so new. It just all still needs growing.
The people at reception are very friendly and helpful, for questions about the area and sights.
The restaurant has excellent food for a good price with friendly staff.
