“Exactly Like The Photos”
Reviewed 9 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This is a studio apartment and it was sparkling clean. The kitchen is well appointed and the bathroom is large. It had English TV and an amazing selection of books and DVD's.
The apartment is on the ground floor and when the window was open it tended to be very noisy. We were not able to leave the window open at night as there was no grillwork to make us feel safe. The apartment is in the heart of Limoux's old town and so we were very close to the main square and small shops.
There was no private washing machine or outdoor seating area, there was a very nice washer shared with others and a small communial courtyard to hang your clothes as well as to sit.
The parking was variable and tended to be several blocks away on most days, twice we were able to find street parking. The WIFI was excellent.
The only negative for us was the extremely strong citronella oil used when cleaning the apt. The smell was overpowering and was still headache inducing on the 5 the day!

Set in a quiet though central location this is a beautiful old townhouse renovated to a very high standard whilst retaining it's original character. It has a lovely secluded sunny courtyard garden where we enjoyed chilling with a glass of wine, the locally produced sparkling wine (Blanquette de Limoux) is excellent.
Our apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, the bed was very comfortable!
A few minutes walk takes you into town and also the train station is nearby.
The owners Stuart and Helen were so friendly and made us feel very welcome and were always on hand. They went out of their way to help and nothing was too much trouble.
We have been here twice and will be back again.
We would highly recommend this apartment.

“A little gem”

A beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped studio apartment that's within easy walking distance of everything you might need. The owners are lovely and the pretty outside courtyard is a nice bonus.

Limoux itself is a picture-postcard French town - perfectly compact but with plenty of cafes, bars, shops and restaurants. A charming, leafy town square is just steps away from secluded picnic spots along the river Aude. Limoux is a 'real' town in that it doesn't rely on tourism for its income , which is a double bonus as it means that the locals are friendly rather than resentful (although be warned: they don't necessarily speak a word of English) and also that it doesn't close down over winter - quite the opposite, they hold a three-month long carnival from January and a wine festival 'Toques et Clochers' in spring, both of which are a real treat. To cap it all, the regional tipple is a very delicious sparkling wine, Blanquette de Limoux, which can be sampled in any of the bars and restaurants and usually costs around 2€ a glass.

In case you're still in any doubt, we love the place!

“Great Apartment, Location, Amenties and Hosts!”

The Albert is a great apartment right in the middle of Limoux town. It is a new apt finished to a high standard and has everything you need including a nice communal patio to chill in the evenings, enjoy a meal, or chat with the owners and other guests. If there is something we didn't have or any info we needed, Helen and Stuart did everything they could and more to sort it out for us. The apt is minutes walking distance to the main square, shops, bars, the Aude river, and 10 mins walk to the train station (1 Euro to Carcassonne). In the area there is lots of history, many castles and pretty medieval villages to visit. Oh, and there is the local bubbly as well, Blanquette de Limoux (google that!)

We were there for a week in May and the weather was perfect. We rented a car from Carcassonne airport and managed to see quite a bit of the surrounding area. The owners provided a lot of tourist type info of the area and also had maps and brochures that we borrowed and gave us great tips and things and places to see, where to eat etc.

We would highly recommend this apt.
Enjoy!

“A perfect apartment in a great location”

We had a great weekend in late November in Limoux. The accommodation was excellent, comfortable and warm. There was even UK TV which was great as we had two teenagers with us! Limoux has so much to offer and it is all on your doorstep. We were there for the weekend of La Foire au Gras which celebrated the food culture of that part of France. There was something going on all weekend and as the apartment is just a 2 min walk away we could dip in and out as we wished. There is a wide choice of cafes and restaurants from the cheap and cheerful to the more gourmet. We also went to Carcassonne which was very easy on the train, our hostess Helen gave us all the inside info and it was as simple as she said.
To sum up I would say great quality accommodation in a super location with very welcoming hosts. Would thoroughly recommend.

“A Wonderful Find”

My daughter is staying 7 months in Limoux as an English assistant in the local Lycee. Very fortunately we discovered her accommodation through a blog. The owners Helen and Stuart had just taken ownership of this very beautiful but very neglected building. They are in the process of completely renovating but assured us that Rachel’s Studio Apartment would be ready by the beginning of October which was when she was due to start at the school.
This was quite a gamble as we had no photographs to go by and had no references to seek assurance from. However when I phoned Helen she instantly made me feel very comfortable and so we decided to take the chance and we are so glad we did.
The studio was much more than we had expected, tastefully decorated with all comforts catered for. Stuart is an excellent craftsman and Helen has a great eye for interior design the perfect team!. My daughter is now the envy of all her friends but more importantly both Stuart and Helen have made her feel like part of their family, they couldn’t do enough for her and that has made the transition for her extremely painless.
I stayed with Rachel for two weeks in the apartment and fell in love with Limoux it is a beautiful town. The house which is situated in a quiet street is just two minutes to the beautiful town square which is filled with restaurants and bars and in the other direction it is two minutes to the river where you can walk along it’s bank and even sunbathe.
As I am a keen walker Helen gave me some really good walking trails that I could access from the town and with Carcasonne just a one Euro train journey away I certainly had lots to keep me occupied even without a car.
I know that by the summer there will be a least another apartment completed and I really couldn’t recommend this place highly enough, our whole family including my 85 year old mother in law are all heading out at the end of April and we are just so excited at the prospect.
This is a completely new venture for Helen and Stuart and I wish them every success they are certainly making every effort to ensure their guests are catered for. Good Luck
