Pomas is a wine-growing village just off the D118 north of Limoux. It has one shop and a bar-restaurant.
The business changed hands this year and is now the Képi Blanc. The owner, M. Viennot is a retired Foreign Legionnaire; his delightful family help with the service. The interior of the estabishment is decorated with posters and other Legion memorabilia including his Képi.
Lunch is available daily and dinner by request. The menu (see photo) is traditional French fare with generous portions. All the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced.
My lunch was served on the terrasse under a large canvas awning to provide shade.
I had a marvellous entrecôte (rib-eye) steak with runner beans and chips. It was accompanied by a bottle of M.Viennot's special Foreign Legion wine, a delicious inky Côtes du Rhône.
So if you are in the Limoux area definitely pop in for a warm welcome and a memorable meal !
