We found The Grange on Wolsey Lodge's website and were amazed that it hadn't been reviewed on TripAdvisor. The house is an elegant stone, mine manager's house built in 1873 overlooking a valley in the most peaceful of situations, outside the village of Glaisdale. The property has 148 acres of land including 600 yards of salmon fishing on the River Esk, and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway passes through the grounds.
Dinner is not offered but there are some excellent pubs nearby and there is a comfortable lounge for all guests. Our en-suite bedroom, The Library Suite, was large and had its own lounge. Breakfast was generous with a good selection to choose from. The hosts, Adele Bates and her husband, couldn't have been more pleasant, helpful and attentive.
You are not likely to be disappointed if you stay at The Grange. The owners also have an attractive looking self-catering cottage in the grounds
