We stayed at the Keld Lodge after 14 miles walking over from Kirkby Stephen. We were greeted by Nick on arrival and made to feel right at home. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the shower was just what we needed on a very hot day. Dinner and breakfast were first class and we were expertly looked after by Mrs P. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone , but especially walkers as they certainly know what the coast to coast is all about and what walkers needs are.

Stopped here on the Coast 2 Coast and very impressed. Not only did we have a great welcome, lovely spacious room & bathroom, excellent food (with a dining room view that took your breath away) and a cosy bar & lounge to relax in ..... but Nick went out of his way to successfully help my friend who was trying to sort out a luggage and logistics problem, Nothing was too much trouble and this showed in the friendly, informal atmosphere where fellow guests, drinkers, walkers and tourists all mixed well together. Apart from all that, the drying room was to die for! Great place to stay, eat or drink. I'll be back.

Reaching the half way point on the Coast to Coast in the wettest April on record, I was thinking long and hard about heaing home. Nick and Karen's welcome and stay at their lodge changed all that.
The warm welcome was so friendly and the start of a very relaxing stay.
Room was luxurious, dining experience a major step up from the pub grub on the rest of the walk. Breakfast a delight, and nice packed lunch too.
But most importantly of all is the attention to detail from Nick and Karen. Obviously walkers themselves, they have thought of everything and their passion shines through.
This was simply the best nights stay on the walk, a real highlight and I will be returning with my wife for a more relaxed stay very soon.
Many thanks Keld Lodge for saving my Coast to Coast walk, it was lietrally all downhill after that.

Ignore the fact that Keld Lodge is very welcoming ,has a superb dry room so needed when it rains more than a little ,hot showers, wonderful accommodation and brilliant food . Think instead of four walkers,on the coast to coast walking from Kirkby Stephen in atrocious conditions ringing Keld Lodge ( which was our destination and the only number we had ) when one of the party in particular was in trouble just for a taxi number to be told " I am on the way " Rescued by Nick to say the least was important but it merely reflected the warmth and care both he and Karen have infused into Keld Lodge. So we will be back to complete this section hopefully in better weather conditions but knowing we will be most welcomed ,well fed etc at Keld Lodge

We had a fantastic long weekend at this charming hotel, a stunning location in the heart of Swaledale with magnificent views. The welcome was warm and the service excellent in the cosy bar and delightful dining room (with views right across the valley). Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped. Nick takes great pride in his excellent locally brewed beer; there is a well-chosen wine list and some great whiskies for anyone who feels like pressing on after dinner. And dinner was very good indeed – during our stay we blew the diet and particularly enjoyed great lamb and chicken (with mushroom and bacon sauce) and sticky toffee pudding as well as spectacularly good full English breakfast. If I was doing the Coast to Coast I would definitely take a day off to have 2 nights here!

Room Tip: Great views in the rooms overlooking the valley

Thanks to Nick and Karen for the lovely warm welcome. I joined a party of coast to coast walkers from Kirkby Stephen to Keld. We had a lovely welcome at Keld Lodge from Nick and Karen. They were very accommodating, and even gave us a lift back to our accommodation 2 miles away! We had a lovely meal, great portion size and great service overall.

I can't review the rooms etc as I stayed elsewhere because they were fully booked.

Had dinner here over the BH weekend and were extremely disappointed. We had the smallest piece of cod ever seen and the herb crust was a faint sprinkling . . . the supposedly excellent lamb was fatty, almost tasteless and cut very thin. Too much hype . . . needs to be scaled back

Clearly we are unhappy that this customer did not enjoy his meal with us - we were not, as far as I'm aware made aware of the problem on the evening in question. Had this been the case we would have done what ever was require to remedy the situation. As can be seen from other reviews the vast majority of our customers enjoy meals at Keld Lodge and we will do our utmost to maintain this high satisfaction level.
