“Great spot - now under construction”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014

We came to Baldi after a great day white water rafting nearby outside of La Fortuna. We missed out on a welcome cocktail they provided to some members of our group. The walkway to the hotel rooms was under construction, which made getting to the room a little troublesome. Also, the children's pool/slide area was closed when we were there.

We enjoyed the 26 hot springs pools during our stay, but did not enjoy the water slides. One was very fast and painful, the other dumped you out in an area too shallow. Many people in our group were hurt on the slides. Be careful! The pools were open late to hotel guests and were great after rafting. Also, remember to hang on to your towels/towel cards or you'll get a steep fine.

Breakfast here was on par with what we experienced throughout our trip. The Italian menu at Baldi for dinner encouraged us to go into town. We ate at Nene's in La Fortuna, which would have been fine, but I expect that they increased the price of the special for our group since no one asked the price. Most dishes were $10-20 US and the special ended up being $35 each and did not seem to merit such a price.

We found a baths and dinner combo ticket in town for $38 and decided to go for it since it was raining. The pools are well maintained and clean and there's a good bit of variety (temperature, size, bars). The water slides are fun, but be warned they are a bit crazy and we're nursing some bruises from two of them. I'm not sure if they'd be legal in the US.

Dinner was buffet style with a made to order pasta bar and some self serve hot food. Decent food.

Overall a fun experience and helped make a rainy day memorable.

I had an enjoyable experience in Baldi Hot Springs. The location was perfect! The front desk was so helpful, this beautiful woman at the front desk helped plan all my excursions. The food was delicious!!!! The massages were relaxing. The water slides were super fun and the whole resort was just amazing!!! I used a cab driver that works for the hotel.. his name is Luis and he charged us very little and took us to local restaurants. Inexpensive cab rides, inexpensive food and the best experience ever. I recommend this hotel

Baldi hot springs are a lovely day or evening trip out. We took a meal and entrance combination for $33 per person. Lockers are an additional $6 and towels can be hired for a $10 deposit - be sure to keep an eye on your towels as they frequently go missing.

The service was awful. The hot springs were not relaxing. They charge extra for everything. Tons of kids and partiers. It felt like a water slide park not a hot springs. Go to Paradise Hot Springs next door for an amazing experience. We were so unhappy we paid, left and paid again to go to Paradise. Paradise was worth every penny. If you go to Paradise do the dinner!

We came to Baldi from an eco-friendly hotel in Bagaces so I think part of my dislike of Baldi is due to the amazing experience we came from before. First, Baldi was tacky. For example, there is a bust of a woman's rump at check-in. Think 70s Vegas, Costa Rica style.

There is club music bumping loudly from morning to night. I could even hear the music from the spa where I was trying to get a massage. During the massage, the only things that interrupted the club music were the screams from the "club" goers and the sound of dirt bikes racing around.

The rooms were re-done and nice in appearance but were musty and damp. They had us run a list of room items at check-in but resisted when I asked for the same at check out.

The food was low quality and outrageously expensive, $18 for a personal pizza. $15 for a spaghetti. It was freezer-quality pizza and Chef Boyardee quality spaghetti.

The pools were OK but again, tacky. We were a family of 6: 2 parents, grandmother, 3 kids ages 7, 5, 4. We were all ready to move on after a couple of hours at the pool.

We didn't get to try any other place, but I don't think you would do much worse anywhere and likely much better. Also, while there is WiFi in the lobby, don't expect to get it in your room.

The hot pools are amazing, however, people need to be aware that they are hot, some more than others. Breakfast is included and very good, buffet style. Rooms are spacious and clean. Service is pretty good. Great place for a getaway.
