I found this place due to browsing on youtube and found it reviewed here on tripadvisor in Spanish language. Now, this is one special place that I can recommend for various reasons.
First of all, adjacent Parque Nacional Juan Castro Blanco is a unique habitat that is well worth exploring.
Second, this place is not well known yet and hence few - if any - other tourists will cross your path while there.
Third, the owner Douglas (and his family) are exceptionally friendly people who develop this place at a slow pace and with respect to the surrounding. Also, Douglas will be available as a guide for a very reasonable fee and/or will arrange for someone else to show you around. The paths there are not yet well developed, so, a local companion will be necessary.
The food was pretty good - here I disagree with the previous review - but of course it is "very typical" food, at very reasonable prices. Also, bottled water is available. No internet.
According to our request, they also arranged for our pick up from the airport, which worked very smoothly. This place is also a bit hidden, so I still think it was a good idea I had this pick up arranged.
Our room had a great view on the little valley, also thanks to the huge window. So, your first sight in the morning after waking up is the beautiful forest landscape. We also enjoyed the balcony.
Hot water was practically non existent in our simple room. We were told in the slightly better rooms it works on a different system (namely gas instead of an electrical "suicide" shower). My recommendation is to pay those 10$ extra per night, since it gets really cold there at night and warm water is needed.
We spent there 3 nights and we would have liked to stay longer.
I would recommend this place, if you want to see cloud forest "off the beaten track" and I am determined to go back there some time.
