Just returned from two weeks in Costa Rica. The highlight of our vacation was the two days touring Manuel Antonio and Carara National Parks with certified tour guide, Maurice Vasquez. The rainforest is the "office" of Maurice. He is the ultimate professional and we cannot recommend him strongly enough. He was able to find scarlet macaws, multiple species of monkeys, a myriad of birds, iguanas, sloths and so much more. We also learned much about the trees and life cycles of the rainforest. We especially liked how he zeroed in on the wildlife we could not see, and then he took pictures through his telescope with our camera. The shots are incredible! The bonus is that Maurice is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Well worth a visit to see Scarlet Macaws and other birds! Buy your ticket, then enter on the left side where the macaws come to feed.

We arrived at Carara just a few hours after landing in Costa Rica, and hired Enrique as a guide. As many have said, you won't spot the animals/birds in this park without knowing where to look, so his services made all the difference. The toucan and scarlet macaws, bats, even cicada are all high up in the trees, and only a trained eye can spot them and the scope is great at making them seem close up. Enrique's love of this park was contagious, and it was a pleasure to see someone so passionate about wanting to share the wonders of the area. We didn't hire a guide at other places, but this was a great start to our adventures!

We went here primarily to see scarlet macaws and were not disappointed. I highly recommend hiring a guide through the park for best wildlife viewings.

Visited the Park with Park officials. Pleasant visit with nice trails and wildlife. The nest of the Guacamayos Rojos ( Lapas) were great to see!
