Had a great week at Chalet Auriane.
Two families, four adults and seven kids (6-15 yrs) enjoyed a great week skiing.
Arrived early afternoon and Dan and Abi took us all down to the ski hire shop and waited while we were kitted out. Abi then packed all the equipment into her car and by the time we made it back to the chalet our skis and boots were organised and waiting on the racks.
The kids quickly piled into the hot tub while the adults lit the fire and relaxed in the comfort of the chalet.
Food was great all week with Dan doing a brilliant job keeping adults and kids all happy. From freshly made pancakes in the morning to fabulous cake in the afternoon. Evening meals were served after canapés and we opted for alternate nights of fine dining and family favourites. Each time Dan adapted the food for all palates.
Abi made sure we were well served and went over and above on more than one occasion, from sourcing desert wine to an emergency pharmacy run during our stay.
Skiing was superb, plenty of snow. We all took lessons with Tzoum’evasion who were recommended by the chalet. Kids went into ski school with ski groups of 2-3 per instructor and all kids really enjoyed. The instructors really knew how to tailor the groups, from nervous under 10s to confident boys and teenagers. Couldn’t recommend this ski school enough. The ski area of La Tzoumaz is great for intermediates and we didn’t feel the need to venture into Verbier.
Although I normally wouldn’t return to the same place twice, I would definitely consider going back to Chalet Auriane.
What a great quirky, stylish chalet. You leave your boots to warm just inside the door and from that moment you are pampered. Chef Dan was incredible. Loved his crab soufflés especially and the way he served up all our meals - as if we were in a Michelin starred restaurant. Even his vegetarian dishes were inventive . New Year’s Eve with a ten course menu was a real night to remember and Abi had produced our favourite coffees or hot chocolates from the professional looking coffee machine before we had even asked by morning two. Views from the hot tub, being on the piste in minutes, and being just a short distance from Verbier (great spa at the W hotel near Médran lifts) were other highlights. Kids liked ice skating ( only 5 francs to hire the skates from Monet for an hour).
Only disappointed by weather one day - but everything else was amazing!
We (three generations, age range 17-87) spent a great week during the Christmas holidays at Chalet Auriane. Service and meals were great and catered very well to various allergies and tastes. The chalet staff (Dan and Abi) are very serviceminded and a pleasure to be around. The chalet is well laid out with four regular doubles and a room with two bunk beds plus sauna, outdoor jacuzzi, dining room and a large living room. Location near the piste is nice (although it should be mentioned that La Tzoumaz skiing is not overly demanding). I would recommend Chalet Auriane to any group looking for an informal, yet high quality chalet experience.
The chalet is perfectly placed for skiing. There is a super furnuclular that lifts you up from the car park to the chalet and then from there up to the piste. The chalet is very spacious and with its open plan, is very welcoming and makes one instantly feel at home. It is kittled out with audio, wifi, hottub and a great sauna.
We had the most superb catering with Dan being the head chef and helped by Ellie. The food was very very good and I dont say that lightly. I have eaten in Les Manoir and other 1-2 star restaurants and the food at the chalet was comparable.
The entire stay was brilliant and I cant wait until we return.
Chalet Auriane is a little gem.
The owners have decorated the interior in such a tasteful and fun way that it's impossible for anyone not to love it there. It's all so well-thought through and leaves you wanting for nothing. The view is breathtaking- especially when sipping champagne from the hot tub :-)
The only thing you may be fighting over is who will get the master bedroom!
The whole experience is made absolutely perfect with Elly who looks after you so well you'll hate going home without her, and Dan who will dazzle you and your stomach every day of your stay, morning - afternoon and evening!!
The village of La Tzoumaz is small and friendly, which may not be for everyone but suited us fine.
The direct access to the slopes with your private "lift" is fantastic, thought not for first-time skiers. Our kids had never skied before so we needed to walk them to the free shuttle bus, 100 yards from the chalet, which took them to the classes at the baby lift.
There is some nice skiing to be done around La Tzoumaz and easy access with the lifts to Verbier area, but bare in mind that this station is more weather dependant.
In any case, even if you loose a couple of hours of ski, there are worse places to be stuck than Chalet Auriane!
An absolute topper, for young and old!
(Family of 13 with kids ranging 1-9 and adults from 24 to 69)
Location couldn't be much better. Stunning chalet.
Staff and food was absolutely incredible and unforgettable.
Great for a group of friends and/or families with children.
Level of service was above and beyond our expectations.
A truly memorable and personalised stay.
Would love to go back again someday for sure!
Thank you so much Paul, Ellie and Dan!
The beauty and perfection of this chalet and location is beyond words. Visiting in the summer with family between ages of 6 to 70 is was perfect for all. Amazing views, fabulous hikes, accessible for day trips. From The comfort of the beds, to all the little details between made it spectacular. Only problem was that the week flew by...
