Been to Haraki 2 years running [already booked for 2012] and this is our favourite taverna. Run by a lovely family. Traditional Greek food at reasonable prices. It is situated out of the main village, so has a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere.

once again we ate most of our evening meals with Vasilis & Marietta at Zographos.

Zographos is one of the original 3 tavernas in Haraki and dates back to ownership by Mariettas parents.

THE FOOD - Authentic Greek and excellent value. All home cooked with some really outstanding dishes. The Stifado is the best we have had in Greece (and weve been all overe the place including the mainland in the last 36 years) and priced at just 7 euro!!

Every taverna does Keftades (meatballs) BUT a Marietta speciallity is her Revithkeftades (chick pea fritters) weve eaten both and the fresh herbs zing!
Then there is the Briam (my wifes favorite) fresh veg (Vasilis has a farm) sl0wly cooked in olive oil and a bit of garlic superb!
Gigantes (Giant Beans) the best with a marietta twist of just a hint of Chilli. Our family has a Tsatsiki test the basis for 1st impressions in any Taverna try it in Zographos youll not be disappointed. Oh yes and there is the standard fare of Pasticcio and Moussaka lovely as are the juicy charcoal grilled Souvlaki.

AND finally PLEASE try the village sausages, fresh from the butcher with fresh herds predominantly Thyme - our son came with us for the 1st time in 5 years and based on his memories this was his 1st meal ordered (he had it twice more).

Finally the ambience is great Vasilis is a great charachter ably assisted by his Son Nicos and his fiance Sonya, who is originally from Germany but speaks fluent Greek.

At tghe end of each meal you'll get a Freebie suma or Raki plus a n orange or pomegranate or an ice cream BUT if you are really, really fortunate to be there when Marietta has made rice pudding --SUBLIME!! Am I going on Oh yes BUT visit there and you will understand why.
