“Clean & Convenience for the desert”
Reviewed 14 August 2011

Why I put "Clean & Convenience" and (in the desert) because traveler should not expect what as I wrote at the title in the desert. However, this camp made me impressed and would like to come back again.

The camp need to use 4WD to reach there and a bit far from the main road, so there is a souvenir on the way (Local Home). When you reach there, check in and need to check activities program with the reception such as sunset, sunrise, camel riding, ATV, desert driving, so you can plan what you gonna do in there. The room is clean enough for in the desert. Service is good enough for Arabic or India staff. There is traditional food, fruits, Coffee or tea and water service. In the night. There is traditional music show.

I have been 2 camps in the same desert area and I impressed Al Raha Camp better than other camp and also would like to recommended..

Room Tip: Normal Room is OK

One has to have a four wheel drive vehicle to reach this desert camp.If previous arrangement is made with the management they wait for you at Bidiya and takes you to the camp in their vehicle.Your car could be parked safely in front of their Bidiya office. (the transportaion to the camp and back to the road costed us Omani riyals 30)
We had two double rooms which had air conditioning and water heater. We were two couples and the charges per head for the overnight stay inclusive of breakfast and dinner was 25 Omani riyals. The Dune bashing was a great experience. It cost us 20 Omani riyals for half an hour (driver and vehicle provided was worth the money that we paid) The food was ok..I should say the dinner was better than the breakfast.(buffet) The camel ride was 3 Riyals per person ( too short a ride) The Quad biking was very enjoyable and we were charged OR.5 for half an hour.(wish we had done more of it) However the Quad bikes are not very powerful enough to climb steep sand mountains.Take your own alcohol with you..They do not have alcohol permit. The owner is a reserved person..Not very friendly. The night baduwin music and dance were really enjoyable.I feel that we could have got more for the money we spent there. Not much of service to the guests.Dont forget to walk on the sand with out shoes..It feels good.:-) The management should take care of the environment and realize its their livelihood.Came across a lot of plastic cans and waste thrown around.
