This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant which is located on the beach front by the Adriatic Hotel...and a fabulous place to watch the sun setting over the Adriatic Sea...Jonny the host greeted us like old friends and showed us to our table. Everything thing at this establishment is locally sourced and Jonny is very proud to promote the Croation food and drink that is available.....and the food is cooked by his wife and a small team whilst Jonny manages front of house. This restaurant charges 228 kuna for a 4 course meal and the food is divine. We started with fresh mixed salad with stir fried roquette, local smoked ham. Paski chese olives fruit and toated nuts.......along with some of the freshest bread had in a long time with a dip of virgin olive oil and pumpkin seed oil. To follow we then had a creamy soup with Sauvignon, croutons and parsley which was amazing. After a brief respite the main course arrived.....Beef tenderloin with creamed broccolli and pickled shallots for me and Istrian pasta with a sauce comprising mediterranean herbs....grilled chicken breast and Gran Istriano cheese for my wife.........both of these dishes were superbly cooked and presented. Dessert was something special as it was my birthday.....a flambéed dish similar to a tiramisu and absolutely delicious.
Jonny helped in the decision of the wine and was very attentive although not intrusive throughout the visit and it was a pleasure to meet and thank his wife and her team at the end of the meal
I strongly recommend that if you are staying at the hotel that you pay a visit the The Gran Mare grill
