I can't really understand the bad reviews of this hotel, as we loved it! As soon as we got out the taxi, the staff were there to help us with our luggage. We checked in and the reception staff were friendly and they DO speak English! We were taken to our room in a buggy and upon arrival; it became aware that we were in the wrong room. There were only 2 single beds and we were a family of four. We had booked a 2 bedroom villa. There was also a problem with the electricity. We went back down to reception, where we were shown the paperwork from our travel agent - they had booked us a one bedroom villa with 2 beds! As it was midnight, the manager told us that he would get 2 camp beds sent to our room and our room would be sorted out in the morning. We contacted our travel agents, who were useless! However, Ibraham (spelling) did sort our room and we moved 2 days later to a 2 bedroom but we did have to pay an extra £200.
It certainly did not spoil our holiday - the villa was clean & tidy and very roomy and served the purpose. We were only in it to sleep & get changed.
The pool area of the hotel is where everything takes place and from 9.45am till 5.30pm the animation team led by the wonderful Ozy, made sure that we were never bored. They start with their morning dance,( which I have to say I do miss), then there is Morning Yoga with the lovely Kristina - there were darts, water polo, volleyball, pool games, pilates, table tennis, zumba, step aerobics etc. The animation team are the real stars of this hotel - Ozy is the chief animator and he had a wee soft spot for our younger daughter and always made time for her, and would come & chat to us. The rest of the team, Dogus, Yako, Grkan, DJCan, Kristina, Elena, Innochka,Irina, Sasha & Yolanda (hope I haven't missed anyone) are the friendliest & most genuine bunch of people we have met. They went above & beyond to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves and despite other reviews - they ALL SPEAK ENGLISH! In fact, they all speak about 3 or 4 languages and really make a great effort with all the guests. They do try & get everyone involved but also respect you if you don't want to take part. And if you don't want to get involved or find the pool too noisy, there are 2 other pools within the complex & there is also the beach. We really miss the animation team, they left a huge impact on us and we are still in touch with them via social media. We would love to go back next year, just to see these guys - they are one in a million and Simena are very lucky to have such a great team. The pool stuff finished at 5.30pm but they were back on the scene at 8.30pm for the mini disco, then the amphitheatre hosted a show every night at 9.30pm and the animation team were all involved again. The comedy night was hilarious and it worked so well, even though it was spoken in 4 languages!
The bar staff are also very friendly and they can also speak English - our favourites were Adnan, Doqan and Murat (love these guys) - a couple of the older ones were a bit grumpy and could also be quite rude on occasions. The older ones definitely favoured serving the Russians to the "Red Band Gang". Red Bands were given to Western Europeans & Blue Bands to Eastern Europeans. And that brings me to the Russians - yes, they do dominate the hotel and the Red Bands were definitely in the minority.
The Russians are bizarre - they are rude, ignorant and greedy! They will push in the queues, barge through doors and pile their plates with food. You have to learn to behave like them and just tell them no when they do try to push. I did get into a row with 2 Russian grannies over towels, but if you stand your ground, they will back off. I was disgusted with the amount of food waste that was left on their tables. They were also rude to the bar staff, with never a single thanks uttered. That said, they did not spoil our holiday and we met some lovely families who also wore Red Bands!
The food was plentiful and although it was a bit repetitive, it was edible and we certainly never went hungry.
We were very sad to leave, and there were tears when we said goodbye to the animation team, as we did create a bond with them and we hope to see them again. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Forget the bad reviews; I think the people who wrote them just didn't make the effort. What you have to remember, is that you are abroad, you are in a different country that speaks a different language & has different cultures from the UK. If you want pizza & chips and don't like international people, then I suggest you stay at home & go to Blackpool. We met some lovely people from other countries and we did in fact meet some lovely Russians, but you have to make the effort. Loved Simena and miss everyone very much!

Me and my significant other stayed at the Simena hotel at the beginning of July 2014. It was the worst experience I had in a hotel. Hands down.

Firstly, staff speak very very limited English, and some do not speak English at all. This makes basic communication not only difficult but almost impossible. The reception staff is rather rude and not welcoming. We arrived at 12pm and got shown our room by someone who spoke no English at all. The room turned out to be a wrong room that was missing a balcony and view across the smaller pool area that we payed for. Trying to communicate such matter to reception was beyond difficult. The hotel is predominantly a Russian hotel, with 99% of the guests being Russian speakers. Thus, if you plan to travel with kids do not count on the animation team to be able to communicate and explain the rules of a task or a game.

The food is okay. There is a wide selection that caters for majority, however the food is repetitive. Majority of the food is not kept warm so you have to put up with a cold supper. The breakfast is beyond puzzling as they seem to do really odd food combinations I.e. Bread with olives and chocolate.

The beach is nice. The water is crystal clear and usually it is much more quieter than the pool area.

The bar staff are one of the rudest people I have met in my life. They do not serve you no matter how long you stand at the bar, but the drinks are very very strong.

My advice- go somewhere else. You will be disappointed. This hotel is run terribly and it is NOT A 5* STAT HOTEL.

Went here with the family and another couple. The hotel is excellent. Whilst most of the reviews are correct that there are lots of russians at the hotel and the staff struggle to speak english. One must bear in mind that you are not England.

The staff at the hotel are brilliant and friendly. Although the buggy drivers are very lazy.

If you have any issues the hotel management will go out of their way to help you.

Eren the bar man is brilliant and always willing to go out of his way for. The food is plenty and nice with lots of fresh fruit. Ice cream is served all day.

Overall a brilliant place to go.

Room Tip: Ensure you ask for a balcony room

Just arrived today from Turkey with our minds set to write the review as a first priority.
A tourist should know the BASIC Turkish hotel rating, it would have been great for us if we knew it before booking a hotel , not in the first ruined day in Turkey - we found the info from TEZ TOUR agent.

5 stars Standard hotel in Turkey = 3 stars hotel Europe (this is SIMENA's case)
5 stars Plus Turkey= 4 stars Europe
5 stars DEluxe Turkey = 5 stars Europe

Good things:
1. Animation team and shows
2. Room big and clean
3. Big pool
3. Sports courts - tenis and volleyball

Bad things:
1. Stuff - does not speak English, very rude not smiling at all. Spa Manager is the best example for what I have just mentioned. No customer care service training, no skills, nothing
2. Food - tones of food, some from the previous days. Some food is located outside the kitchen area (there are 40 degrees out there). Can be eaten but it is nothing exceptional . Eat grill and baclava. Choose to eat at the food corner behind the pool area
3. Sports - they have courts however we wanted to play tennis. Bring your own rackets otherwise you will pay for 1h - 10 Dollars altough it should be included
4. A la carte restaurant - you have to pay a reservation fee 10 USD/person - this is not spcified anyweher
5. Beverages - no imported drinks , nasty taste
6. RELAXATION - this is not the place to sleep. Animantion team starts the afternoon games at 14.45 - music is loud, they talk on the mic. During the night there is disco until 1:00 AM - even if nobody goes there , the music is still on and is really loud.
7. very poor WIFI on the lobby area

Room Tip: Do not choose a pool area room

Just arrived home after 10 days in gulag ,sorry I mean the Russian capital.
90 per cent Russian including food and guests, meal times are a free for all and pool
Beds are becoming extinct.
Our upgraded villa was excellent ,big spacious and New.but there are 45 empty villas
Surrounding it in a dilapidated state.
Pool area clean but poor bar staff and next to no English spoken at all.
Meals are very poor standard and catered for Russian taste.
THIS is a 3 star at best, Kemer town is worth a trip and costs 3 euros on the bus.
Great shopping there, but please save your money and book elsewhere, sharm is more upmarket and the service is a lot better.if you need any more advice please ask.

Room Tip: Choose a new villa or the actual hotel,it's split into two

I stayed at the Simena Holiday Village for two weeks at the end of May with my sister. I have to say that we had just the best holiday, for so many reasons. Before arriving as we had just just booked a cheap sun holiday I had very low expectations, I couldnt have been more wrong! We had a bit of a shakey start being dropped at the Sun Club which is a luxury complex next door, but were quckly taken to the right place by golf buggy and greeted by friendly reception staff even though it was 2am. We were again taken to our room by golf buggy which was in the holiday village which is over the road from the main hotel. By talking to other guests, we were very lucky with our room as we were in one of the blocks which had recently been refurbished. It felt brand new, the room was huge with a beautiful bathroom, loads of storage and giant terrace over looking a smaller quieter pool than at the main hotel. Request Room 823 if you can! The buffet is absolutely huge and has loads to offer and even a slightly vegetarian was happy! breakfast doesnt really go for the ful english, but there is plenty to choose from and the snack bar by the pool is really good for lunch. Tip: dont go to dinner when it first starts.. the russians queue from the door and have no social awareness, invade personal space and are so rude! this is the only downside of the hotel but throughout our two weeks we managed to meet a lots of lovely english and germans who we then spent lots of time with. The hotel has great facilities, the spa is a big plus and you have to have a turkish bath and massage. Ladies make sure you ask for a female masseuse! We would say that the sales team for the spa are one of the let downs of the hotel.. they are over friendly trying to get you to book into the spa then as soon as you have done so they do not acknowledge you. This is crazy as we would have gone back had they not have had this attitude. The best thing about the hotel which you won't really be able to understand until you are there.. is the animation team. Never have I met such a lovely, positive, approachable bunch of people and I have to say that they really made our holiday. Yako, Ozy, Kristina and Dogus particularly deserve a mention and we really miss them! They have exactly the right balance between getting you involved in activities but then respecting you if you dont fancy getting involved. The bar staff around the pool are also great, particularly Mazlum and his cocktails! The location of the hotel is great.. right on the beach and a very short walk to shops and other restaurants if you dont fancy the hotel buffet everynight. Kemer is also a short bus ride away with much more to see and do, with nice restuarants and bars. If you want nightlife then you won't be disappointed either.. there are a few big clubs in Kemer - Inferno was our favourite, but Aura is also good. The animation team organise a bus once a week or so and take the guests from the hotel which can help with cost as they are really expensive. Overall, we absolutely loved our holiday at the Simena and are already planning our second visit! We couldnt recommend it enough.. but please note.. request staying in the holiday village new apartments and if you ignore the russians you will love it!

Room Tip: You must request to stay in the Holiday VIllage in one of the refurbished rooms which overlooks the...

Be careful when u book with this hotel as your travel agents may not tell u that the hotel donot have a single english speaking staff. Secondly you need to confirm if u are reaching late night, if they will serve u any food or not. Lastly clarify that u want to stay in hotel room, villa or club? Food was not as expected either. Hotel and staff are good, but none of them can communicate well with u, unless u can speak Rssian of Turkish

Room Tip: Since we donot recommend anyone visiting this Group of Hotels, No tip for choosing a room.
