“The best quiet apartment”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

My daughter and I spent a lovely week in the apartment.
Gina and Janis are the best hosts. You can apply to any request and will not find fault.
Gina invited us to a celebration of the baptism. It was very interesting and I have a lot of impressions.
Apartments are full equipped. There are very green area, the orange garden and the large swimming pool. 2 minutes walk to the quiet unoccupied beach, 2-5 minutes to bakery and supermarkets, 10 minutes walk to Platanias. 25 minutes drive to Kissamos to get the ship for Groamvousa island.
My daughter and I have got new friends.
We will definitely return.

This was our first trip to Crete and we were lucky enough to find the Androulakis Apartments for our stay. Gina and Yannis, the proprieters, were warm and welcoming and made us feel completely at home from the minute we arrived. The apartment was clean and well stocked -- including a gift basket filled with home grown oranges, lemons and a bottle of their own production of olive oil. The grounds are lovely and we were surrounded by groves of olive, orange and lemon trees and were encouraged to pick from the trees and vegetable garden. The apartments are quiet but well located -- near to several good little tavernas and a 5 minute walk from the beach plus easy busses to Chania and surrounding areas. We spent 3 weeks here and didn't want to leave. We would definitely go back.

We've recently come back from 2 weeks holiday in Androulakis appts. in Crete ( our 5th visit ). As usual the holiday was very enjoyable, Gina and Yannis the owners always friendly and helpful. The place is very quiet and away from busy roads and other apptms., the garden's full of fruit and we were invited to take as much as we wanted. We also met other holiday makers who've been going there for many years. There're many shops and supermarkets near by and also restaurants. The sea is a few minutes walking distant away, and in the evening after an enjoyable meal there's the Taquila bar which is open until early morning. My wife and i are looking forward to going there again, it's an enjoyable and relaxing place for everyone.

Room Tip: Room facing swimming pool

Very enjoyable stay. Nice and quiet (compared to the rattle on the main road at the beach) but within walking distance from beach and restaurants. Beautiful garden and a decent sized clean pool and a very sweet owner/manager.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the garden and pool, others don't.

Reviewed 29 July 2013

We, my wife, two little kids (1 and 4) and myself, stayed at Androulakis during a week in July 2013. It was our first time on Crete and I found this apartment via TripAdvisor. Everything the other visitors describe is true: these apartments are very good value for your money. The best is the garden with the beautiful swimming pool. As the owners live on the same compound they take very good care of their gardens, the flowers, the greenery, the grapes, the little chapel, the settings are just great. The swimming pool is very large for such a small compound, very clean and the water temperature just great. Most of the time we were alone and it just felt like a private pool, you never have to reserve a pool chair because with only 12 apartments there is always place...what a difference with the pools we saw at the hotels nearby!

The room we had, (#3), was a very good value for the price we paid. It is basic but it has everything you need, including an airco and a freezer. If you go with a family two can sleep on the mezzanine and two below on the ground floor. We only found the bathroom, although very clean, a bit small and the beds a bit hard, but for the rest the rooms were good enough.

The especially would like to mention the hosts, Gina and Yannis: they live on the same compound and they are so warm, nice and welcoming. They made a real difference: they made us feel like being at home and they acted like sweet grannies for our children. we were even invited for a real Greek baptize party held in their garden, including great food and all night dancing the Sartaki.

About the village: Gerani is very small and has not much to offer, although there are a few nice restaurants near the hotel. The beaches are not the best, and the really nice beaches are quite far away, but that is the problem with this side of Creta anyway. The nice beaches do not have places to stay so you need to stay somewhere else. For us, with two little children, it was quite a hassle to get to the nice beaches (about 45 minutes from here at least and through the mountains). The great historic town of Chania is, at the contrary, only a short car ride away and is a great place to spend the evening. By the way: the coastal road between Chania and Gerani, with a/o the places Platania and Acua Marina, is very touristy, with a lot of sea facing (busy and fully packed) hotels and restaurants. This is just a short ride from Gerani.

So, in conclusion: if you are the more exploring type of tourist who is going to drive around anyway and you want to explore the west side of Crete, and you are looking for an excellent value for your money, a great garden and pool were you can really relax after a day of sight seeing and you do not mind somewhat basic rooms, then this is the place to be. If you are looking for a traditional simple beach holiday then I would, for starters not stay at this side of the island, or stay at the more tourist village next to Gerani where you will find dozens of hotels facing the (not so nice) beach and packed with the typical sunbathing tourists.

Room Tip: You have six rooms that face the pool, and six that face a hedge row. i believe all the rooms are qu...

We would really like to keep Androulakis Apartments an absolute secret so that there is never a time when we are unable to stay in our favourite apartment in our favourite holiday destination. However - we cannot quite manage to be so selfish and have decided to share our family experience of staying in such a fantastic place.
For us, the most important factor for a perfect holiday is to relax and unwind and nowhere does it better than this little gem tucked away in Gerani. Like so many others we are repeat visitors to Androulakis, now in our 8th year and we cannot imagine a better place to spend our precious 2 week summer break. The lovely owners, Gina & Yannis live in their family home on site and are fantastically warm and friendly to their guests, which adds so much to the experience. All rooms are air conditioned and sit within a beautifully landscaped setting with fantastic poolside views. There is a wide range of places to eat and all within a five minute walk, from beachside tavernas to cocktail bars and everything in between. Gerani is far enough away from the general hustle and bustle to make you feel super relaxed but still close enough to Chania (a short bus ride, cab or car journey) to spend some time shopping or just soaking up the historic surroundings. All in all - we adore this place and are about to book for our 9th visit in 2013. We cannot wait.
