“RECEPTION LET US DOWN!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2014

Well here is a different review to others and it would of got a 4-5 rating if it wasn't for the NO policy to a sea view request by the reception !! i had to pay an EXTRA 140 EUROS !!! on top of our holiday to get a sea view room which didn't start off well ! the hotel was Evan empty . We found out our neighbors didn't pay so it made us feel we got ripped off but other people were having to pay as well so we just left it and got on with our holiday !
Right rant over other than that we enjoyed our stay and the holiday was nice and the staff were great( reception are not included sorry ) the views were fantastic and the food good! p.s the hill is a hill ! rooms were clean nice hotel nice beach shame about reception for doing this this review would have been 10 times better if it wasn't for this and i can say for all of holiday people in the future you would feel the same if you had to pay more when you shouldn't have .

Room Tip: don't get forced into paying extra for a sea view room

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you that you chose Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel for your recent holidays. We also thank you for your comments here in Trip Advisor and for your time to share your opinion with the rest of the viewers.

We are truly sorry to read your strong words of disappointment regarding our reception staff. All the comments so far also here on Trip Advisor talk about how good reception staff is and how they can’t do enough for you.
It was certainly not our intention to disappoint you, but as our hotel has two different room types our sea view rooms do come with an extra charge which would normally be pre-paid at the time of booking. Of course if a guest who has not pre-booked sea view wishes to upgrade during their stay to enjoy the fantastic view from their balcony and we have availability, then it is always our policy to offer upgrades at an extra charge.

I would like to thank you once again for expressing your views here on Trip Advisor. We can only hope that you will consider returning to the Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel or another Aquis in the future, so that we may have another chance at showing you the service and hospitality for which we are proud of.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband, 13 year old, 6 year old and 4 year old children from 23-30th May and had a wonderful relaxing time. We were picked up on time from the airport with no hitches and got to the hotel in time for the evening meal. The food was excellent and the waiting staff worked really hard throughout our stay. There was so much choice and it all tasted fantastic, we all loved it. The inside eating area needed sorting out a bit though and was a bit like a canteen with no atmosphere. It could do with a makeover with some nice lighting to make it feel better. We ate outside all of the time to avoid this. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing and set in a stunning location. I was a bit disappointed with our rooms at first as it didn't look straight out onto the sea but instead it overlooked a corrogated roof and a rusty walkway. If you looked to the right though you could look out over the mountain and coutryside which was beautiful. They did offer to move us but we didn't want to chance it and move to a noisy room as this one was quiet, so we decided to stay where we were. Be careful you don't get put in a room looking out onto a brick wall as we saw a few of those. The room itself was lovely and we had no complaints. The beds were comfy, the room was cleaned every day and there was a tv and dvd if the weather was bad (we had 1 day of rain) I brought some dvd's with us for the kids. There was a really good range of activities laid on by the friendly animation staff who made our holiday one to remember, thanks go to Nik and Allie in particular but all the animation staff worked so hard and deserve to be congratulated! There was plenty to do to keep my active 13 year old happy (volleyball, table tennis, water polo ect) as well as myself (pilates, boules, aqua aerobics ect) They also had a childrens area for the younger children which looked really good, very friendly lady that ran it, but our children wanted to stay with us by the pool and on the beach most of the time. There were lots of sunbeds by the pool or on the beach which were free. You can hire the towels for a deposit from the hotel and get them changed every couple of days, this saves having to bring beach towels. I would say the only thing was the spiky haired young guy who was serving at the pool bar staff was a bit grumpy which put a dampner on things sometimes. The guy in the bar upstairs was lovely though and deserves a mention. The all inclusive was great, ice-creams by the pool but don't expect branded drinks and a huge range of cocktails, it was fine for us though. The pool seemed to be losing tiles and a few people, including my daughter got cuts on their toes and feet from the rough bottom, it could do with a bit of maintainance but nothing really serious. Overall we had a really lovely time there and would return again.

We booked this hotel to completely relax and get away from it all for 2 weeks, and we certainly were not disappointed. We arrived at 4am and we were greeted by the very welcoming and friendly night porter - Kostas. He showed us to our room and provided us with sandwiches.
After a few hours sleep, we awoke to the most magnificent setting and our holiday started. This hotel is down a very steep hill in a small bay, with beautiful views out to sea and fabulous sunsets. There are a few tavernas on the beach and one supermarket just up a small road from the beach. This is exactly why we booked this hotel, to get away from everything. I cannot fault anything about it. All the staff are very friendly, the animation team excellent, they ask if you want to join in, but dont pester, and even though we didnt join in the activities, they still chatted to us each day and made us feel very welcome.
The hotel has plenty of sunbeds, certainly no need to be getting up at silly o clock to reserve with a towel. Plenty to choose from, either by the pool, or on the lovely decking area looking out over the beach, or on the beach itself.
The restaurant staff all work very hard and couldn't do enough to help. Dafni the hostess welcomed us each day into the restaurant with a friendly smile. Particular mention to beautiful Anna from Ukraine who had the most wonderful smile and Mark from Hungary who was very friendly and cheerful. The food was of excellent quality, I am a veggie but always found something to eat.
Reception staff all very helpful and friendly too.
We went to Corfu town on the bus one day, easy to do, get the free hotel shuttle bus up to Pelekas village, and then catch the local bus into corfu town, cost us 3 euros each. Plenty of shops in corfu town for those who want to shop.
We hired a car for 3 days and did explore the rest of the island which was beautiful (we avoided Kavos!) It was lovely driving through the corfu countryside, so many beautiful olive trees and fantastic views.
We did go up to Pelekas village a few times where there are a couple of tavernas and shops . This area is totally unspoilt and just how we imagined corfu to be. We walked to Kaisers Throne and saw the magnificent views of corfu.
The hotel has a new young manager, who seems very keen to maintain the high standards of this hotel. He was always to be seen walking around checking on things, which is good, not just sitting in his office, and on one of the evenings all the managers of departments were introduced to guests which was a nice idea.
We were there the first 2 weeks of June and the weather was hot and sunny - we had one rainy day.
We sadly returned home last Saturday, having left this wonderful hotel at 1am, waved off by Kostas and the fantastic animation team, despite the late hour. We can honestly say we had the best time ever. Thank you Aquis Pelekas, dont change a thing.

My Mum (aged over 70) and I (only just under 50!) recently spent a week at the Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel. The positives most definitely outweigh the negatives, (if any!). If you are looking for a busy, fun-filled activity packed hotel with lots of night-life, look elsewhere, If however you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, sun sea and sand type holiday, we would absolutely recommend the Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel. The location is stunning, with a back drop of deep green very hilly, wooded areas dotted with a tiny number of properties overlooking a beautiful deep blue clear sea with a clean sandy beach. We arrived on May 19th 2014 and stayed for a full week. The hotel does have a slightly strange lay out due to the steepness of the hill that it has been built on which unfortunately does mean there are lots of steps, however the outdoor lift is very easy to use and there are plenty of lifts within the main reception area. The room we eventually stayed in (they did try and give us a double room, despite booking a twin, but it was very quickly resolved) was adequate. The rooms are pretty similar to most all inclusive type hotels, basic but comfortable. There was the standard TV., air-con, en-suite (a little tired but again adequate) there was also a fridge which was greatly appreciated as the room did get extremely hot during the day. The room was cleaned every single day. The pool was good, with pool-side towels provided free of charge, although an initial refundable deposit was taken. There was never a shortage of beds or brollies as the majority seemed to prefer the beach. The food was, in comparison to any other all inclusive we have been on, extremely good. Plenty of choices every day, with fresh ingredients and the selections were different most days. It is obviously still not a la carte, and could have done with being a bit hotter, but all in all very good. The outdoor eating area is lovely, and the staff are very attentive. They serve your drinks to you at the table, and clear the tables for you. There is the option to pay to visit their a la carte restaurant, which we did just once. It was a huge meal and fairly good value at 12 Euros each. The all inclusive wine is ok, but plenty of choice available at an extra costs. Overall we would recommend Aquis Pelekas Beach Hotel.

My blind son & I have just returned from The Aquis Pelekas hotel in Corfu. We had a very relaxing holiday. We were in room 1206 & had 188 steps down to the beach, 72 of these were compulsory.
The staff were all very helpful & the furnishings lovely. The only down side was nowhere to walk to in the evenings after dinner. The beach is lovely with free sunbeds (if you are quick enough)

Room Tip: Hi room was excellent except there were 44 steps to get there
