“Traditional feel”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Lovely place adjacent to the beach at the opposite end to the harbour, well-space tables with a traditional feel. We had horta, lovely green beans, excellent tzatziki, fabulous briam & imam, a Greek salad and splendid stuffed tomatoes, all prepared by an expert. The house white was very good value. Very friendly service in a nice traditional environment. Complimentary melon rounded off the evening.

“Top local taverna”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Kandouni is one of the best tavernas in Batsi. The cooking is very traditional Greek and not food cooked specially for tourists. Here you will eat proper pasticcio and moussaka among many other tasty meals, often cooked by Georgos's elderly Greek mother. Georgos's and Alexandria are a hard working couple who provide excellent service and food, and who have a great sense of humour. The eating area is beautifully kept and has lovely views across to Batsi at night. This place is well worth the gentle stroll along the sea front to the far end of the town beach.

“Good food in a friendly atmosphere.”
Reviewed 4 October 2013 via mobile

The restaurant is run by a friendly and hardworking young couple, and his mother rules in the kitchen. The food is mostly similar to the food served in the other taverns, but it is all prepared very good. There's joy and passion in it.
The serving couple is friendly and enthusiastic and manages to take some time for a friendly chat even when they are busy. Their service is personal and genuine. The backside to this is that it sometimes takes a while to draw their attentention, but it never bothered us. We're on holiday, so there is no hurry...

“Pleasant and friendly”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

Kandouni is situated at the far end of Batsi bay, next to Cavo Doro. Kandouni is a combined pension, restaurant and cafe. Take a morning swim in the clean, clear water just over the road and relax with a beer, coffee or ouzo. Shame they can't provide a meze with the ouzo, just crisps. The restaurant serves excellent home cooked food. On our first visit we ordered tzatziki, grilled sardines and moussaka and half a liter of house wine. Together with a delicious chocolate mousse, we paid a modest €24 for 2 people. The tzatziki was beautifully prepared, The yogurt sharp and tangy and there was masses of garlic. A matter of personal taste, but the yogurt used in Greek restaurants is often too bland and creamy. The Moussaka was delicate and full of flavour.
On our second visit we again started with tzatziki. This was followed by pasticcio and grilled anchovies and half a liter of wine - €22.
The service was prompt and friendly.

There are many restaurants/tavernas in Batsi and Kandouni ranks high in my estimation.
