“Best Weekend Ever!”
Reviewed 15 September 2008

WOW! The accomodation was absolutely fantastic. Beautiful rooms, clean, bright and big! The service was perfect and we loved having breakfast in the pub in the morning. Great food as well, even my daughter loved it. It was the perfect place to be based to see the Gower. We walked over Rhossilli Down and they did a packed lunch for us which we ate on the beach. It really was a perfect weekend and the price was unbelievably good. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks.

Having just read the previous comment about The Kings Head Hotel, Llangennith, I am totally amazed as to the comments made. My family and I have visted the Kings Head Hotel, quite a number of times, infact already about 5 times this year. It has a good location, close to the beaches, and also convenient to wonderful country/coastal walks. The accommodation is very good, modern, spacious, and well equipped bedrooms, and currently more accommodation being built. We have eaten there on numerous occassions, and I have to be honest have never experienced poor, rude service, on the contrary we have always found everyone most pleasant and helpful. No it is not the 5 star Ritz Hotel, but does not pretend to be....but it is a very adequate Coastal pub/Hotel on the beautiful Gower peninsula, and the only thing I will say, is that sometimes it gets so full due to its popularity, that you may have to wait a little longer than expected for food, and I can only surmise that the previous person had called on one of those days/weekends, after all people can make errors, due to pressure, but never done on purpose, and I am sure it would never happen again!

The rooms were nice, well furnished and appropriate for the price.

The food service was diabolical. 2 of my friends' dishes never arrived. An hour after we'd finished ours we asked again when the food was going to arrive. They kitchen had forgotten about it so we complained and asked for our money back as well as the food. They misunderstood and cancelled the order without telling us. We brought it to the manager's attention. She at first was totally unapologetic and then rude. She told us that she would never refund a meal and bring the food, not what we expected of a £60 a night hotel. She eventually agreed to bring them a plate of chips each but she still failed to apologise unreservedly.

The pub food was over-priced for what it was and poor quality. E.g. the rump steak tasted of liver and was priced at £12-13 and the local sea bass was £10.95 but instead of a whole fish, an unpleasant looking and tasting sea bass steak arrived - this was not mentioned in the menu and should have been.

We won't be returning.
