“Wonderful golf course”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

If you have the privilege of playing San Lorenzo, you will find yourself reflecting in years to come on the quality of the course, the memorable setting of stunningly designed holes - particularly Amen Corner on the coastline, and the friendly professional support of all the staff who work at this great Club.

I played here for the first time in 1992, it was just as good then as it is now. It was challenging at the beginning but now I live in Portugal and have played there many times it is one of my favourite golf courses. The scenery is fantastic and the holes are very challenging, it helps bring out the best golfer in you. You will be sure to have an amazing time at this golf course and I recommend everyone to play on it.

“Highly rated golf course ?”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

San Lorenzo has a huge reputation as a golf course and deservedly so, if you are into location .
No golf course in the world could match its unique setting alongside a rare and outstanding nature reserve, with some magnificent sea views and a number of wonderful water holes to admire and conquer. The quoted green fee rate,in excess of €150 is expensive for the average holiday golfer, but there are some very cost effective and reasonable packages available at a couple of nearby hotels in the same ownership, which would lower the cost of the golf substantially .

A visitor to Quinta do Lago, could also take a delightful stroll in the area at no cost and enjoy all the features of the unique Ria Formosa.

“Our home course in Portugal”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

We have recently returned from our 5th trip to Portugal staying at Dona Filipa and playing at San Lorenzo and Vale Do Lobo Ocean.
San Lorenzo is a great course with a fantastic layout; views of the coast, nature reserve and countryside. Its a course that if you keep the ball reasonably in play you have a good score. Each time I play I learn more about the course and which way to play it. First few holes don't need a driver just good positional play especially the 6th which needs a good three wood to the apex of the dog leg then you have a chance to hit the green in two. My favourite hole is the 8th which is a thinking par 5. This is when the driver comes out. Good straight drive then a good medium iron and you can take on the green with a wedge. Simple...
A couple of tips...avoid if you can a late afternoon or early evening round as the mossies' are waiting for you at the 16th. Take lots a repellent! Play in the morning to get a relaxed round and with a chance of breaking 5 hours for a round. Course rangers friendly and did not hassle us just a smile and a word to you to keep the pace up. Easier with buggy.
We have already booked for next year and have combined Vale Do Lobo Royal, Ocean and Sam Lorenzo for the last day. One final tip have a rest day after the second round, chill around Dona Filipa's pool and you will be refreshed for the next round.
