What a beautiful hotel! The location is second to none in the Algarve and the staff were polite and very efficient. Rooms were really nice and a quick 5 minute stroll to the beach was very handy. I must say, the food and beverage operation could do with a bit of TLC. Breakfast was excellent but lunch and dinner was a bit average, certainly when compared to the Conrad.

Overall, very good indeed, we will be back!

Staff that couldn't do enough for you, great food and ambience. This hotel had a wonderful cosmopolitan family friendly feel to it. Whilst some of the furniture was a little dated, it made up for with its warm ambience and relaxed aire. We had a great view on the 2nd floor, although a friend on the 3rd floor had the view of the sea blocked by trees....so had more of a garden view. The gardens are well cared for and very pleasant to stroll around. The beach a 5-7min hike away over the lagoon. All the rooms were fitted with anti-mosi plugs so we didn't get bitten once in our rooms despite sleeping with the doors wide open! The pools are relaxing and a children's pool was available away from the bar area....although staff are continually wondering past to take your order.

Room Tip: All good and sea facing

Great time at the hotel. Very friendly and polite staff, good size rooms with a view over the National Park, the lagoons and dune system. Food was very good, the freshly cooked to order omelettes at breakfast were worth the wait. Pool are clean and tidy, with helpful staff. Overall a super experience.

We have just had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Quinta do Lago. As per reviews from others who have stayed here, the staff are so friendly and attentive and there is always a smile to greet you. The food was fantastic as was the service and it is so peaceful. The setting is also second to none. We had friends who stayed close by in a more modern hotel, but their location was nowhere near as good as ours. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for comfort and a relaxing holiday. Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome. We will be coming back to see you again.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Quinta do Lago Hotel. The service here really is fantastic and it is easy to see why this hotel gets such a tremendous amount of repeat business (indeed it's almost a 'club' with the regulars returning at roughly the same time - if not twice - a year and for many years). The hotel itself is set in the most beautiful part of the Algarve and is extremely well kept - both the interior and the grounds of the hotel are faultless. Breakfast is served in a beautiful setting and the choices are to sit outside overlooking the lagoon or inside. Crisp white linen meets all expectations. Breakfast is delicious - from the home made and outstanding yoghurt to the expertly made omelettes (I'm going to practice the technique displayed by the chef!), We would have no hesitation in returning. This is a beautiful and genteel hotel with an old fashioned charm.
What would have made our stay even better? The bar was sadly lacking in atmosphere, no matter what time of the evening we ventured in and on our first night (a Saturday) at around 10pm it was just us and the pianist! We didn't try the restaurant for dinner as again it never appeared to be busy and hence a lack of atmosphere. It would be a pity to ruin the charm of this lovely hotel but a few modern touches would not go amiss - for example tea and coffee making facilities (perhaps a Nespresso machine) would be very welcome and in line with what is on offer at other hotels in the Leading Hotels of the World.

Room Tip: Our outlook was over the garden but we would probably have preferred a higher up room overlooking th...

For foofoo_11 to say "it is an estuary" and that there is "nothing to do but play golf" is odd, and sad, and just wrong. I went there a few months ago. We found ourselves in this magical place. There are turtles bobbing up from the streams, flamingoes, exotic looking birds I have no idea of the name of yes, on the golfcourse, weher we sat in a hide and watched for ages. There are wild flowers everywere. A long narrow bridge crosses the river (sorry, estuary) where men bend for hours digging for clams. The beach on the other side is simply too stunning for words. Empty and pristine as the Atlantic crashes in, although I wouldn't recommend swimming in it in April as it tossed me about and spat me out in a quite dishevilled state!
This place is so much more beautiful than anywhere else along the Algarve. And I haven't even got started on the Ilha deserta!

I've been going to the Quinta do Lago hotel since I was a tiny baby and have always loved it. The staff have been lovely from the beginning, with lots of the older ones still there. The hotel itself is very outdated though. The rooms and restaurants are in big need of an update. Having said that, the hotel is in a wonderful location, only a few minutes walk to the beach, with beautiful views. If you are looking for a traditional hotel with good friendly service then definitely go here but if you are into modern touches this may not be right for you.
