“Excellent townhouses and villas with hotel amenities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2013

We stayed here for nine nights and booked a two bedroom townhouse. From the moment we arrived we knew it was special. The house itself was located near Monte da Quinta suites which meant we had all amenities on our doorstep as well as privacy in our own house which was the perfect combination. The house was deceptively spacious with two large bedrooms with en suites, dressing areas and separate air conditioning. The living room was large and had an open plan dining area that seated six. Not only was the house very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, it was so well equipped with the best of everything. On arrival we were told that they had put a few essential items to keep us going until we got to the shop. This was a nice surprise and included cornflakes, bottled water, milk, jam, butter, bread, fruit juice, tea, coffee and sugar as well as dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid! It really was a home from home and had everything you could think of needing. I cannot say anything negative about this complex other than its quite a walk to Quinta shopping but we had hired a car which was essential for getting around as there is no public transport. The spa was beautiful and the massage I had was fab albeit it was expensive but worth every penny. We ate in the bamboo restaurant on our first night and it was a buffet which at around 30 euros per person it was expensive for what it was and as we ate late the mains were a bit dried up although the food quality was good. Our parasol base was broken and when we tried to move it, it fell to pieces but within five minutes of reporting it they attended to it. The main building at Monte da Quinta suites is also stunning and a good option if you don't want to be in a private house. I would definitely return and the sooner the better. well done to all the staff

Room Tip: Ask for a south facing house so that you have sun on your pool area all day

Travelled end of August for 5 day break. Had a 2 bed suite, for 3 adults. Could not have been more impressed from the start. Suite excellently furnished/decorated, everything you need. Great welcome, with lots of information from lady who showed us to our suite. Never had any problems with noise, so think people have been unlucky with particularly vocal neighbours. If the main pools busy head down to the health club pool, 10 minute walk, lovely & quiet, never noisy, very few children, great service at poolside restaurant there. We had HB, the breakfast had a fantastic selection, freshly poached/fried eggs available on request, lots to choose from, we had toasties or baguettes at lunchtime & they were always served quickly & were very tasty, dinner as a buffet is always a bit of a gamble, but every night we found something to our liking, not always perfect, but edible for sure & the desserts were AMAZING! Good value for money going hb, & if we'd been staying longer we would perhaps have taken our hb option at lunchtime (which is allowed) some days then ventured out in the evenings.
Now, some reviews before we went mentioned the service was a 'disgrace' 'slow' etc etc. I read these reviews & my heart sank a little. Don't panic! I can hand on heart say the service was exemplary. I work in the customer service industry, & I would employ any of the staff I encountered at Monte. Delightfully funny, charming, helpful, great with the kids that were there, I was very impressed. William in the main restaurant is a credit the hotel, & all the other waiting staff follow his lead. Maybe if it was mid August & much busier it may have been slower service etc but i can honestly say when we were there, everything was done with a smile & good humour. Portugal has definitely shown itself to be far to superior to the lacklustre rude Spaniards we encountered earlier in the year in Estepona! We will definitely be back, that's for sure. So in closing, maybe they've taken on board some of these reviews? Or maybe people are quite fussy? Or maybe one mans perfection is another mans poison? Try it, we're super glad we did & weren't put off by some reviews.

Our third visit to this hotel.
The location is excellent, and is more for family's than couples.
The staff at meal times definitely pay attention to the children which makes their stay enjoyable.
The standard of food is good with a buffet breakfast and dinner, we had dinner on three occasions and were pleased with the quality.
People do reserve sun beds at the pool but that did not cause us a problem, we always got beds.
The suits are very spacious, the beds are very firm but we asked for an over mattress which was provided.
We experienced noise from adjoining rooms(we changed the first room) which we complained twice about, it did continue but we gave up complaining, you can hear people having a conversation next door clearly.
We did enjoy our stay and perhaps unlucky to have noisy neighbours!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the main road

We have stayed here 10 times now
Yes its unbelievably expensive but the villas are fantastic
We always go for a 3 or 4 bedroom villa not the townhouses as the pools are full size whereas the townhouses have tiny pools

Best highlight is the Kids Barbecue on Weds nights - our 2 love it!

The service though in the bars and restaurant are terrible - very slow and not very good. This really lets the resort down and puts us off using the facilities unless we have to

Room Tip: Go for the villas as they are the best

This was our first visit to the Monte Da Quinta Suites and I am confident it will not be our last. The standard of the accommodation was excellent. The suites were very well finished and spacious. We have three children and the two bedroom suite with an additional sofa bed was more than adequate for our needs. The communal areas were beautifully designed and extremely clean. Staff were friendly and efficient and all our requests were dealt with in a very professional manner. The kids club was well organised and our children loved it, in addition the hotel also organises free hourly activities for children throughout the course of the day. Breakfast is included in the rate and was as good as any I have had in any hotel I have stayed in. All in all a really great place, especially if travelling with children.

excellent accommodation located in a fabulous location - has the ability to be a really great family holiday destination, but really really let down by their staff, from the top all the way down through the entire team. staff say all the right things, but do very little of what they promise. the poorest overall service i have experianced for a number of years. buffet breakfast is like a zoo, and the restaurant is not up to scratch with a chef without standards. beds very very firm, which took some getting used to. in summary, there need to be some significant changes in the team onsite, lets hope the new owners make them... quickly!

This hotel has brilliant fully equiped rooms and are ideal for families, however once you leave the comfort of the room the hotel is a let down in so many ways.

The pool area is supposedly policed by a pool attendant who is supposed to stop people saving sunbeds all day, and there is a sign stating a 30 minute rule, which is meant to stop people bagging a place. Great theory badly implemented. The attendant has his little book of favouite people who can come and go as they please, I watched as a group of 15 people bagged sunbeds only to disappear at various points of the day for hours at a time, safe in the knowledge that they were exempt from the 'rule'.

We were even asked at one point to give up a sunbed we were using for a family who appeared at 1pm who again were on his favourite list and he needed to accommodate. Aggravation you do not need on holiday, that left a bad feeling with us.

Service at the pool bar/restaurant is near non existent. We are used to holidaying in Dubai and the service in hotels we have used there are second to none. Here however you have to battle for a drink and food orders we found got lost far too often. We asked one day for an update on our order and were met with blank looks from the waiter we ordered with 30 minutes earlier! Not the best at all, needs a lot of work.

We had a ground floor room with a terrace which sounded nice however you are effectively an inconvenience to the groups of cricketers, footballers and any other possible ball game you can think of. Relaxing it is not.

It also appeared that we were not informed that the hotel has a weekly competition for the most slammed doors and decibels achieved, as everyone seems incapable of closing a door at any time. Extra points obviously being added the later you manage to slam one.

On a brighter note the restaurant is quite good and we found both the food & service good, with something for everyone everyday.

Overall a good hotel but not great by any means and hard to justify the cost. Choose somewhere cheaper or go somewhere much nicer.
