This is a lovely place. The suites are amazing and fantastic value for money if you travel at the right time.
The October weather was perfect - we sunbathed from 10 until 4 every day in unbroken sunshine with temps in the low 70s, but no sunburn and no humidity.
The service was faultless and the included buffet breakfast was of a very high standard.
Sunbeds were great - plenty of them, and free smart green towels from the spa.
The kids club was excellent but far too expensive to consider once we had used our free sessions up. For two children for four hours would have cost us £60. Just not worth it, however much they enjoyed it.
Lunch was of a good standard but not cheap and dinner was very expensive but lovely. We ate out most of the time and lunched in the suite.
A car is essential - the basement garage is a bit scary though! Very tight turns so be careful!
My only substantial criticism is that the pool is not heated at all and it is icy, icy cold. Too cold for my children to be in for any length of time and this did diminish their enjoyment of the holiday considerably. The staff argue that during very hot weather a heated pool is not necessary but personally I would NEVER like to swim in an unheated pool.
Several times we walked five minutes down to the Monte Da Quinta Club where there is another lovely outdoor pool (again unheated) but also a heated indoor pool with outside sun terrace which was much better for the children to actually swim in rather than just splash around. Unfortunately as we were off season the pool bar etc was closed down there so we did base ourselves round the pool at the suites primarily.
For the unheated pool I am taking away a star from an otherwise absolute winner of a five star holiday.

My wife and I are seasoned holiday makers and this is definitely one of the finest hotels that we have ever stayed in, anywhere in the world. The whole complex just oozes quality. The suites are immaculate, the service is excellent and the buffet food at breakfast was top class.
It was a quiet time of the year, mid September and there was plenty of room by the pool area. The first class attention by the pool area manager is well worth a mention .He is extremely courteous and helpful and is a great asset to the hotel as in fact were all the very friendly staff. Only downside, you are isolated here and definitely need some form of transport . Taxis are slow to come and expensive for even short journeys.

From the Concierge, transfer, reception manner and information plus an upgrade from a one bedroom suite to a two bedroom suite this was a holiday that was perfect from the beginning. Suite was a very high standard with eveything you could wish for; complimentary tea, coffee, milk, water etc and toiletries of every kind especially handy if you had forgotten something. Kept very clean by diligent staff throughout the hotel. Wonderful breakfast, every member of staff so willing to make your stay perfect through out the day - they all seemed to really care which made us feel special. Beautiful location and so many amenities available and as we are keen walkers we went on foot eveywhere. The two Nature Trails and walking along the sand to beach restaurants were particular favourites of ours plus a visit to the Watersports Centre a must. We hired bikes which are available at the Hotel and went to Vale do Lobo and Almancil - you have to be quite fit! else hire a car. Hiring a car is necessary if you like to explore and visit different restaurants but we went to the main Quinta Shopping Centre which took us approximately 50 mins so we were certainly hungry on arrival and walked off our meal on the way back!! We arranged to go on two trips which were very well organised and we would highly recommend the Jeep Safari.

Stayed in a 2 bed suite with breakfast for a long weekend, and was extremely impressed with most aspects of the hotel. The kitchenette in the suite was small but perfect - lovely sized fridge with a small ice box, and complementary coffee & tea with milk and biscuits, along with a complementary bottle of water. The bathrooms were luxurious, waterfall showers over both baths, as well as a handheld shower attachment. The beds were firm but extremely comfortable, and for the lighter sleepers the hotel offer complimentary ear plugs. There is also a first aid kit in the rooms, along with the normal soaps, shampoos etc.
A word of warning - the spa pool is not heated, but there are 2 indoor jacuzzis which are kept at 35deg. The gym is well equiped (although not very well air conditioned). The underground car park is not for the fainthearted, entrance is down a steep slope, with a swipe car mechanism at the bottom, and there is a maze of pillars once in the car park. However there is vallet parking.
The beach is about 30 mins walk away, and the local shopping centre (supermarket & restaurants) is 40 minutes in the other direction. If you're happy to sit by the pool all day, a car is not necessary! Four Seasons Country Club is only 15 minutes walk and their restaurant is open to the public, and offer a wide range of dishes.
The only disappointment for me was the restaurant - the cooked breakfast selection was cold, and the service was not consistent although it improved during our stay.

Had a wonderful stay at this Hotel this summer. Reception was OK, rooms are very good and service in general is very good. Liked the waiter of the restaurant which every morning was very educated and friendly. Also very professional was Armando, the swimming pool responsabile.

Pity that the swimming pool is very small for so many people (if you dont reserve a place early morning you dont find a place) and breakfast can get quite hectic due to the size of the restaurant.
Our holidays were nearly ruined when on the last day we asked to make our check out at 1pm (normally 12am) and a rude recepcionist said that it would not be possible. Strange as the check in is only at 4pm, time more than enough to clean our room.

The previous reviews were mixed so was worried about what to expect. Arrived at the hotel, only 20 min drive from airport (rent a car- cab are EXPENSIVE!! we rented a car from Zit Autos and it cost 115 euros for 5 days... saved us a lot of money).

Our room was wonderful. 1st floor overlooking the gardens. Beautiful. Spotlessly clean. Lovely balcony. Im very fussy but found the suites were great. 2 bathrooms, one bedroom, lovely big lounge and a little kitchen.

Pool area was again clean. We were there at end of season so had no problems with getting a bed.

Breakfast is average at best but fine for just some fresh fruit or toast.

Area is lovely. The steak house Gourmet Natural is a MUST for steak fans. Beautiful restaurant. And for seafood fans the Casa da Lago is lovely too. Sit outside on the lake. lovely.

Would absolutely recommend this hotel. Brilliant location.

We have just returned for a week’s break with our 4 yr old son and 2 yr old daughter. It's really is a great spot for a family holiday and having tried a number of resorts in the area of this calibre this would be our favourite and it is good value for money (if you get the right deal). It gave us everything we needed and on the whole the staff were friendly, food very good and accommodation excellent quality. So we would certainly return and also recommend it to others. However, there are a few niggles worth pointing out which I hope may help others in planning their trip:

• We were led to believe they were understaffed and therefore the staff were having to work flat out. This would explain the poor service referred to in previous reviews and some of our experiences.
• We had to wait 15-20 mins to check in due to the queue. We were not offered much in the way of additional information and had to work out over the course the next 24hrs that you needed tokens for towels, that the beach club concession (umbrellas, loungers, towels etc) was not free and actually very expensive – no wonder it was empty – and that there was a very good 2nd pool in the original part of the resort near the villas.
• The suites pool was too small and heaving everyday and if it was not for the most efficient Pool attendant would have been chaos. They need to think about setting aside one of the lawned areas for sunbathing or making the beach club free so more people use it. We used the other pool which was much nicer and better for kids but yes it is a 10 min walk away.
• We also found the service in the restaurant poor, but the food was good and they compensated our very long wait with a free bottle of wine!
• Kids club is very expensive but staff very good.

I think many of my concerns would be irrelevant outside of the peak season – so my advice would be to avoid school hols (if you can)!
