In need of a quiet place to relax and unwind, I started brousing the net and via via I stumbled across this B&B. It had an immediate perfect image; authentic, peaceful hide-away, a cosy farmhouse looking place. And this is exactly what my mother and me got! The reviews speak for themselves and not one of them is exaggerated!! Quinta das achadadas is one of those authentic places where you feel immediately at home, or in my case I felt I was staying in grandmother's cosy house amidst the fields, chickens and butterflies. Of course with many extras which you normally don't find at your grandma's; a beautiful swimmingpool with a relax area, a jacuzzi with a view and orange and lemontrees everywhere! We stayed in what I think was called the 'hibiscus room', "the smallest but prettiest room" and indeed it was! I slept like a rose in that room! Every morning a fantastic breakfast is served right across from our room; you step out on a large terrace with Mary Poppin-like tables and chairs, flowers everywhere. Jill and Julio are so inviting and open, they really spoil you! The meals we enjoyed were just delicious; honest, simple meals with fresh ingredients; real soul-food which I prefer. You need a car to get around and to also get to the quinta, but I like that because this way you really stay far away from anything amidst nature. We took some beautiful walks around the quinta, the surroundings sometimes reminded me of certain parts in Toscane. The smaller beaches around Lgos are just gorgeous (especially praia do Camilho, real paradise!!) We had great food in all the places Jill recommended and even did some nice shopping at the end of our week there in the old part of Lagos. I could go on ad on!! I do hope to come back there one of the years and I sincerely hope they haven't changed a molecule of their quinta, because it is just perfection! love from Iris and my mum Lisbet

We had a lovely time staying at Quinta das Achadas with our toddler and baby. Children are made very welcome and there is plenty of space to run around and explore. The playground, swimming pool and jacuzzi were a big hit, as were feeding the pigs and chickens and collecting eggs with Julio each morning.
The whole feel of the quinta is very relaxing and special, with amazing lush gardens. Jill and Julio are very welcoming. Our apartment, Jasmine, was very comfortable, tasteful and well-equipped with a pleasant patio area overlooking the swimming pool. We tend to opt for self-catering holidays but having breakfast provided, 2 evenings meals and a daily chambermaid was the best of both worlds.
Being slightly inland (10-minute drive to the coast) we probably explored the surrounding area more than if we'd been based at the beach. However, our favourite days were actually when we were lazy and just stayed at the quinta. A really enjoyable, relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: Jasmine apartment is lovely with a great patio area right next to the swimming pool. If you've g...

Jill and Julio made us feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable and included a separate bathroom but unlike some others did not include a comfortable sitting area - you have to lie on your bed to read or watch tv. The weather was colder than we had hoped for, especially in the evenings so sitting outside was not really an option. So it would be best to book an apartment or one of the lager rooms which includes a settee. In the hotter part of the year you would expect to spend more time outside. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of cereals and bread with nice jams and home made marmalade. The freshly squeezed orange juice was delightful. Help in selecting restaurants was very useful as was advice on walking and local sightseeing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here and would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a settee!

Quinta das Achadas is in a super spot, on its own, peaceful and beautiful, 2 mins by car from Odiaxere - pronounce: O-dee-ash-ay - which is a kind of dormitory suburb of Lagos - pronounce: la-goosh - which is only a further 5 mins or so. Faro Airport is less than an hour. It's at the Western end of the Algarve, where the landscape is still green and unspoiled, the beaches golden and likewise unspoiled, the walks on cliffs and hills are fabulous, the towns and sights (castles, museums, churches) fascinating, and watch out for the storks and flamingoes. Julio and Jill gave us the warmest - literally! - of welcomes - as they will anyone lucky enough to stay in their little corner of Portuguese paradise.

We have just returned from a walking holiday in the Algarve. We stayed at Quinta das Achadas and it was wonderful. The welcome was warm, the apartment very comfortable, attractive and well equipped and the whole experience relaxing and friendly. Jill cooked us two delicious meals and the whole dining experience was brilliant. Breakfasts on the terrace were leisurely and appetising. Our hosts Jill and Julio were attentive and good humoured and we enjoyed the banter enormously. All in all it was a great weeks holiday in a special place run by special people. Thank you Jill and Julio from Pip and Lindsay.

We booked our five day vacation 24 hours prior to our arrival. Every thing was smooth. We arrived at the airport and a car was arranged with keys on the wheel, paperwork to be done the next day in Lagos. From hear on in it simple got "BETTER". Rooms excellent, Welcome "SUPERB" Hospitality "OUTSTANDING". We have had the most relaxing holiday we have ever had. Jill had flu but soldiered on. Julio covered for all aspects and indeed was by far the best front of house person I have ever met. Anyone would be a fool not to try it. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is clean and comfortable but more importantly relaxing. We are celebrating our "Pearl" Anniversary here in May/June. What more can Louise and John Waller say. Thank you Jill and Julia. Oh yes, this is only the second time I have ever been driven to write on Trip Advisor

Room Tip: All very good

This is our second holiday here and we were worried it wouldn't live up to our memories - it did! We were welcomed by Jill and Julio as old friends and felt immediately at home. We stayed in 'Jasmine' and it is a superb apartment. The weather was good enough to be outside most of the time and the woodburning stove was very welcoming during the chilly evenings. As before the excellent breakfasts and evening meals were a highlight as was the companionship of fellow guests. We will be back!

Room Tip: They are all good rooms/apartments
