Just returned .. Had a lovely time..3 teenagers my friend and I.
Pool is very crowded with lots of young children but it is August! The activities during the day were fab something for everyone..especially loved Alix and his aqua aerobics ...
Drinks the norm all inc as was the food good but bit samey and bland... but the Asian restaurant was a nice change.
Beds were very uncomfy..rooms adequate. Lovely walk into village sardine festival was interesting.
Staff fabulous so helpful and friendly...
All in all a lovely holiday where we could of stayed longer....to please 3 teenagers is difficult but they had a brilliant time!

Room Tip: Pool view....All Floors are carpeted so it's quiet

We recently visited this hotel for a family holiday that included one 7 year old and one 9 month old children together with 6 adults ,age ranges 34to61.
Hotel was clean and well kept, reception was excellent, room service when used was quick and efficient, the pool areas, whilst a little crowded (you need to get towels on early or you are out if luck) were great for adults and children alike, animation staff not pushy however some of the entertainment at night was a little below expectations.
Food was plentiful but towards end of our 11 nights became a little repetitive.
Drinks not branded but ok , the hotel well deserves 4stars we have been in 5 star establishments that do not meet this hotels standards. Would go again but perhaps not in main weeks, but this was our choice this time. Family room my children had was a little cramped however.

Room Tip: Rear view 5th floor for quiet room and sea view past adjacent hotel

You will want for nothing at this fantastic hotel. The food is great quality and variety. The drinks are all good quality including the beer and wine. The best part were the staff in all departments. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel like honoured guests from the beginning of our stay. Rooms were always very clean and the facilities are excellent. We had a wonderful week and would definitely return to this hotel when we go back to the Algarve.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good but a family room has more space and is more like a suite.

The website makes it look like it is on the beach/just down the steps. It is or would be if they had not locked the gate to the beach forcing you to walk for at least 7 minutes to get there. You may as well stay well back from the beach. It makes no difference.
Hotel does not reflect value for money.
The food is not good.
If you have to go make sure you don't get a room overlooking the parking.Very gloomy and dark.

I stayed a week all inclusive with my partner at this RIU hotel, having stayed at other RIU hotels in Europe and the Caribbean I was disappointed with the standard of this hotel. Although staff are very friendly and do their best to accommodate your needs, we had to ask for a iron for the room and mattress toppers as the beds were uncomfortable.
We arrived later than expected mid afternoon time due to airline delays and so alls we wanted to do was relax by the pool for a few hours, however finding a sun bed or even a spot that wasn't crowded was near impossible. We found that even though there are three pools, one being a children's, there is not enough room or ample beds to go round the hotel guests. Once you do find a bed however you are often on top of one another and often told to move to fit other beds in .. Not exactly what you want.
The room is outdated however not exactly a let down as you don't expect to spend your holiday in your room! There is a mini fridge although completely empty and not in the slightest bit cold. This is not what I expected as every other all inclusive holiday there has been beverages in the room.
Reading other reviews we were sceptic about the food and although there is ample to choose from in all restaurants it never seemed to be hot and always seemed to be bland.
The entertainment was next to nothing and seemed to centre around children's entertainment or karaoke.
I would not return to this hotel as it is definitely not worth the money we paid and unfortunately was a disappointment.

I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. From the minute we arrived we were treated well, and we were able to start our holiday immediately. The staff from management, housekeeping, pool men and restaurant staff are among the most friendliest of people we have ever met, they were on hand constantly, even the dreaded welcome meeting was made better by meeting the staff and being offered the opportunity to look around the hotel. No need to worry about getting a sun bed all you had to do was ask for one. Entertainment could have been better of an evening but the real problem was lack of seating area in the show room. The hotel was spotlessly clean, food and the variety on offer was amazing. Wish we had booked two weeks, 100% relaxation. All backed up with a great location. Lovely walk around the cliffs with fantastic views into the stunning beach with the local bars and cafes all made for a time to just sit and be.

We had an excellent time at this very special hotel. We have always wanted to visit the Algarve but it is way off our budget in the summer months. We took a chance on a good price and as Easter was a little later this year. We were rewarded with excellent weather. This ClubHotel Riu didn't disappoint in any way. From the time we set foot in the reception to the time we left every aspect was exceptional.
Food was always plentiful and something for everyone, some cooked in front of you.
Our rooms overlooked the pools (we did pay a little extra when we booked via First choice) It was nice to retire to the room late afternoon and sit on the balcony in the sun. I would not have like the rooms facing the road of front of the hotel, but not too much of a problem if you get the weather as you only sleep in the room.
I travelled with my husband and daughter (15) and my mother. we had 2 rooms and as requested were next to each other.
At the welcome meeting all heads of teams were introduced.. even the cleaners, chefs and entertainment team. They made it very clear that they were there for us..any problems to let them know immediately and not wait until the end of the holiday.
The entertainment team worked hard and were very good. Some complained that they mimed the songs etc.. but what they did was great and extremely entertaining.

The hotel does a behind the scenes tour. I have never been to a hotel that offers that. It was very interesting. One Man on the tour complained that we were not shown inside the kitchens, but rightly so, as our guide said " have we all been checked that we can work in a kitchen and all well and not have any diseases!" All their kitchen staff follow strict health and hygiene rules.

The beach is beautiful, accessed either down hundreds (seems like it!) of wooden steps, places to stop and take in the view, or out of the hotel and a nice little walk down the road past some shops and bars.

We would love to return at some point when if fits in with our budget again. I have given excellent for budget, it was for us in April, but couldn't afford in the summer holidays.

Well done ClubHotel Riu Guarana Thanks for a great week.

Room Tip: A pool view if you can, will possibly be a supplement but worth it
