Olhos is a really nice place, situated between Albufeira and Vilamoura. Is suited to older travellers or people with young families in that it is packed with bars and restaurants but not night clubs. There are loads of places to eat, mostly searchable on Trip Advisor, and we didn't have a bad meal in 10 nights. The main village is fronted by a relatively short stretch of beach set between eroded hillside but there are huge stretches of beach accessible either side which go out to Albufeira and Vilamoura. We actually walked all the way to Vila along the beach which was very pleasant. We walked 13 km stopping at a couple of nice bars and it was excellent. Got a cab back though!! c 17 Euro. You have to pick your time as the tide comes in but midday was fine for us. There are watersports available on the beach-jet ski, banana boat, parascending etc for those that want it. There is ample beach space although the main stretch in front of the village is popular. Beaches are largely lifeguarded.
The apartment is in a decent sized block and you would think that the pool would be packed etc... but that wasn't the case. We were practically alone most of the time (I think there are a lot of locals living in the block who work) and it was ideal for us. Its a quiet complex built into the hill. The front door is accessed using a pin pad and then its a lift up to apartment AO (using a code also, so very secure) and the apartment is one of only three on that landing. The apartment is really well appointed. Has a comfortable living room, main bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. loads of drawer and wardrobe space. Air con in bedroom and living room. The sofa turns into a bed although we didn't use it. There is a large balcony on three sides, two tables and chairs, three sunbeds and two parasols. You overlook the pool and can sunbathe on the balcony practically all day long. The view from the bedroom and kitchen is fantastic. The pool is below you, beyond that the village front, then the beach, then the sea and the view is panoramic. You can sit out at night with a bottle of wine and watch the waves crash. All windows are protected by electric shutters so can be completely locked down if you wish. The lift takes you right down to beach level (you go through the car park to get out to the beach which is preceded by a few shops and bars/restaurants.
We absolutely loved this place and had a fabulous relaxing holiday and will definitely be back.
Tina the owner is really proactive. Email her and she responds almost immediately. She booked our airport TF for us on request (60 euro for the two trips and its 35 mins) and Yellowfin who she used were super efficient. Deposit is held by Trip Advisor who wait a short while for any claim but our money was back in about 8 days post departure with no quibbles.
Would wholeheartedly recommend this place without any hesitation whatsoever.
Wonderful sea view from every place in the apartment. Location....could not be better, center of beautiful Olhos de Aqua, close to local beach and famous Falesia. Many restaurants at every corner and not more than 200m from apartament. Olhos de Aqua ...to me best point to explore south coast of Portugal. Good contact with Tina.
