It is true that The hotel is a bit run down. Old furniture, carpet floor. However ater 5 nights there i do not have a single complaint and i would recommend it. It is not a resort but it is great for a short visit to The azores. It is Very central in The island but also Very quiet and with a big beach next to The hotel. The rooms are quite big and confortable and The pool is Very Nice.

Beautyful location in a quiet bay, 10min by car from Vila Franca / 25min from Ponta Delgada. Spacious rooms with good beds, large bathroom, little fridge and balcony. Looks rather more like an apartment than a hotelroom! Room was cleaned well every day by friendly ladies.

Some facilities were somewhat outdated (like old, broken pool beds and umbrella's and the lower floor in the hotel). However there were new beds installed outside after mention this to the manager, well done!

Food in the hotel is not too good. Everyday same breakfast (bread, cheese, ham, pre-baked eggs/bacon/sausage, some fruit and cereals/yoghurt. Bad coffee!). This gets soon very booring. Snacks at the poolbar weren't too good either (club sandwich however is recommendable). Too bad, the hotel itself is very good!
However for lunch/dinner there is a restaurant at the beach for some good food and snacks if you want to stay in the bay. We ate there a lot!

If the management would try to get better quality of the food they would easy deserve a 5* rate.

Room Tip: Bayview is very good but you'll have the hot sun in the afternoon (untill sunset) right on your...

This WAS a wonderful hotel many years ago. No repairs having been done, it's old and run down. Which is a shame since its localization is wonderful, in front of the sea and close to the beach.
Cons: AC malfunctioning (too old, we're told), horrible showers that just don't work (couldn't take the shampoo out my head), old carpets, mattresses too soft (I guess old and worn out too, didn't care to investigate), poor pillows. The pool is very noisy during the day (children and parents crying like crazy: no music thank God). Quite nights though.
Pros: enormous rooms, awsome views, very silent during the night, wonderful sound of the waves, good breakfast, magnificent location (one of the best beaches of the island metres away). Correct taff.
One last advice: you'll definitely need to hire a car. The public transportation is very poor in the island.

Location was absoluetly fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Left something exepensive in a communal area by accident and it was returned to lost property-felt very safe and secure. Views from hotel were absolutely fantastic and it we lovely to hear the waves crashing on the seashore through the night. Suite rooms were massive and well equipped. Liked the fridge for your own cold drinks etc.... Nearby beach cafe/restauarant is open to very late, even for food. Many locals use it and it had a good vibe and well priced and tasty food. (loved the fried blue jack mackerel.) Incredibly quiet at night even though many people were. staying....felt so peaceful. I would go back again tomorrow if I could. Loved the fact that there was no piped music!

Beds could be more comfortable-they were quite soft and dipped a bit on the middle, but Ok. Carpet throughout suite and communal areas, though not worn or dirty had bleach stains. Generally the place has a feel of faded glory-dont let that put you off. In the climate of recession, my guess is that major, non urgent repairs and cyclical maintenance will be delayed until the economy picks up. Rooms need a kettle (take your own-an essential for Uk travellers!) Oh.....and wish the building wasn't pink, but hey....I Still loved it!

Room Tip: A junior suite overlooking the sea is a great choice. Our also overlooked the pool. We slept with th...

Pros: Stayed in Sao Miguel several times and decided to book a hotel away from Ponta Delgada. This hotel is rather isolated and quiet. Had a nice beach area and pool. This is where the pros stop.

Cons: The hotel is old and run down. Everything feels dirty and in need of a face lift. The beds were the most uncomfortable Ever!!! Pillows were unreal. Air Conditioning was terrible but with a hotel this run down I wasn't surprised. We went for the breakfast on our first morning and all the food that should be hot was cold and all the food that should be cold was warm. They had two coffee dispensers. One that made fairly nice lattes but there is always a huge line up. The 2nd dispenser was the worst coffee I had ever had. It was like oil!! Seriously. We skipped breakfast the 2nd day and paid for a great breakfast in Ponta Delgada. We were advised Wifi is unavailable in the all rooms and can only be accessed in the lobby for a fee. The safe in the room comes at a cost as well. You pay a 10Euro deposit and 2Euros per day and get the 10Euro deposit back on check out. We gave the Agent 20Euros and he gave us back 6 Euros as we were staying 2nights. On check out we were expecting 10 Euros but the agent only gave us 6 Euros. She said we never paid the 4 Euros and after telling her we did, she did not believe us and only gave us 6Euros. We were so upset with this hotel we decided to just let it go and never stay here again.

It is true, the hotel interior is getting old and at least changing the carpets would make a huge difference. However, our room was clean and very spacious (in particular the bathroom with separate tab and shower ! ) and had a nice view on the ocean.
The pool is great (it is up to 3.8 m deep) and we made frequent use of the inside ping pong table.
The hotel is not very close to the next town, so you better have a car (you need it also to escape the fog, but this is true in general for the Acores islands).
Breakfast is quite repetitive but ok. We didn't have dinner because we like to explore different restaurants.

Great view, swimming pool ok, seaswimming ok, great place for discovering the island, the room was great. Everything was cleaned well, very friendly people. Just the facility is getting old. Breakfast was ok, dinner was ok (only in a "dark" restaurant without view outside).
