It was our first visit to the island and previous comments posted on these pages helped us to make our choice about where to stay.
Delighted to say we agreed with all the comments: the situation, the welcome, the quality of accommodation, the magnificent breakfasts and the very warm and sincere hospitality all helped to make our first visit a memorable one. Hopefully, it will not be the last!
Thank you, Jon and Deb.

Room Tip: The side room was an excellent room but nearer to the neighbour's noisy dogs! The front room ha...

The other reviews of this wonderful B and B do not exaggerate - this place is perfection. The view is exceptional as is the welcome from Jon and Deb. They look afer their guests so well, it is almost as if you are part of the family. If you are looking for the sort of B and B where you only see your hosts on arrival and at breakfast then look elsewhere. The breakfasts are fantastic with an extrordinary fruit platter with many fruits we have never seen before and daily 'specials' from pancakes to eggs from the resident chickens. They are full of advice about the island and can recommend excellent restaurants. The house is immaculate, the bathroom huge and the bed very comfy. Lucy the dog and Gizmo the cat are an endless source of amusement and company. The house is half way down a steep cul de sac with a panoramic view of the coast, nearby hillsides and the offshore islands. There is always something to look at. You can also see the airport in the distance and sometimes the planes approach at the same level as the B and B but the airport is so quiet that this is no problem, in fact it is fascinating to watch the planes land. As it was February Jon and Deb lit a log fire every evening and we all enjoyed it enormously. Just so you know - there are no tv's in the bedroom - it was great to get away from it!
Just one word of advice - if you are reasonably fit then the walk to the local shop and restaurants will not be too much of a problem but it does involve a lot of steps. We had a car for our entire stay and although the local buses are reliable we felt that the car enabled us to explore the whole island properly and at our own pace and also access some excellent restaurants. For restaurant recommendations see my other posts.
Thank you Jon and Deb for making our first holiday on Madeira such a success and for looking after us so well, we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: There are only two rooms and John and Deb never let them independently.

We booked Casa Parsons having read the reviews below - and we weren't disappointed. Jon very kindly met us at the airport and we very quickly fell in love with Madeira. Jon and Deb were the perfect hosts. Our bedroom gave us a perfect view of the Ilhas Desestas (Deserted islands) and the sunrise every morning. The bathroom was huge with a great shower. There was even a bottle of wine in our room. Tea&coffee with a small fridge for anything we needed chilling, CD player, hairdryer etc etc. Breakfast was the best we had ever had anywhere - Fresh local fruit, cheese, ham, cereals, toast and a special addition each day! A lovely garden to relex in and each morning Jon and Deb disappeared with Lucy the dog to allow us to eat breakfast alone! Yes Casa Parsons is on a hill so be prepared for some walking up slopes and steps - we did it at least twice a day and came to no harm, we just took in the views! jon and Deb gave us some great tips for sightseeing and where to eat locally - we liked A Chama, which barbequed meat fresh in big ovens and served on skewers at the table. Each evening we joined our hosts in their living room for a chat and a few drinks.

This really is a special place, high on a hillside with spectacular views an ideal place for a relaxing, get away from it holiday. We hired a car for 2 days and visited the places that we couldnt do locally, Pico de Arieiro - 2nd highest point in Madeira - high above the clouds - fantastic and Porta Moniz where the waves of the Atlantic mesmorised us as they crashed against the coastline. We toured for 2 days and the scenery was amazing! we also took a local bus to Machico and another into Funchal. Transport system was easy to use and many islanders speak English and were so helpful.

We saw the Christmas lights in Funchal - so very beautiful and every village and town we went to had a Nativity scene - we felt very blessed to see Christmas being celebrated without the commercialism we see in England.

But back to Casa Parsons - We highly recommend this B&B if you like the personal touch and dont mind being away from the Touristy bits - WE LOVED IT - and have already rebooked for 2013! Thank You Jon and Deb for a fabulous week!!

Once again we are humbled by these kind words. It has always been our aim to ensure that our guest's enjoy all that Madeira has to offer, to the full. This we will continue to do, spurred on by these and other similar comments. We are indeed fortunate enough to live here and hope to share this good fortune with all of our guest's.....past, present and future. Thank you.

We stayed for one week at Jon & Debs B&B and had a great time. We really felt at home, the breakfast was incredible (thank you Deb) -with local fruits and a surprise every day (e.g. homemade croissants). The evenings we spend in front of the fire in the living room and had a lot of fun with Lucy (the dog) and Gismo (the cat). Jon & Deb recommended many restaurants or other places to go. We loved it there!!!

I've just spent a week with John & Deb in their brilliant house. They are the most warm, welcoming, human & decent couple you could hope to find. Intelligent, well informed, and they have a great sense of humour too. They have a sweet little dog & a disdainful cat, but aren't all cats like that. They have lived in Madeira for many years, so will tell you all you need to know about levadas, living there, buying, or long term renting, local politics, the best local restaurants etc etc etc. They have a wealth of guide books which they are happy to lend their guests. The en-suite bedrooms are a delight, spacious, absolutely spotlessly clean and modern, with lovely polished wooden floors, welcoming bottle of Madeira wine in the rooms, nice touch. The views from this house are nothing short of panoramic & spectacular. Lovely relaxing garden too, with lots of seating. Easy parking. Super breakfast. The ambience of this place is warm, friendly, cosy & inviting. Geographically excellent location for exploring the island, the sun will be behind you while travelling west in the morning & also behind you as you return in the evening, so, no dazzling sun in your eyes as you drive. Very quiet at night. I've lived & travelled all over the world for 10 years & this is only my 3rd review for Tripadvisor, so you can believe what I say. Whatever you do, stay here first in Madiera, you won't be disappointed.

Kamila and I got to know Casa Parsons some years back and have been going back ever since. Why do we always go back to see these lovely people? They offer a top notch B & B ***** (5 stars). They care about their guests and offer excellent tips on what to do on the Island. We were particularly impressed with the vegetarian breakfasts (at our request) that Debs prepared every morning on our recent visit. Nothing is too much trouble for both Jon and Debs. They have lovely animals (dog and cat) and live in a very relaxed atmosphere. This makes the holidays on Madeira so enjoyable. For Kamila and I, it is not like going on holiday to Madeira anymore, it is more like going home and with the pleasant (24 degrees) warmth on most days, it makes the stay just perfect. Would we recommend this B & B - yes we would and if we could go back tomorrow, we would. Well done on building a great B & B on the lovely Island of Madeira.

At casa parsons every day starts with a fantastic breakfast. I will not itemise this as has been done by other reviews troughout this site. Just one word: exceptional for a B&B.
The next step is to schedule or plan your day and if you are as well prepared as we were ;-), Jon and Deb are an excellent fund of recommendations, additional providing all kinds of maps and guide books, which you can borrow, too.
The location of the B&B is in our point of view also an advantage, if you prefer a more quiet area to flee from your usual hectic business. The nearness to the airport makes it a no brainer on the date of departure (10 min drive) and if you are concerned about the noise from the airport do not get worried and enjoy the scenary when a plane is on landing approach.
Our room (seeview) and the bathroom were well furnished and there are no complaints at all. They offer everything you need (mini stereo, fridge, etc..., but luckily no TV, which is available in the living room) and daily room service is also included, even when unusual for a B&B (but highly appreciated).
We really have to say Thank You to Deb and Jon (and for sure also to Lucy the dog and Gizmo the cat) who always made us feel welcome and home!!
