Stayed for 2 weeks July - August with 2 x Studio's to accommodate a family of 4.

Rooms - Beyond basic, no kettle or toaster which really is miserly to say the least. Noisy & leaking Air- Con units, rock hard beds.

Maid Service is once a week for linen & towels. Anyone who has been to Greece knows toilet paper has to go in the bin & not down the pan, but this bin will only get emptied every 4 or 5 days, very unpleasant. On that note take your own toilet rolls, they wont provide you with any & if you ask you get a terse reply along the lines of 'if you dont like it complain to your rep'.

Pool is ridiculous. The main section starts at a depth of around 3 foot & increases to 8 foot over a distance of a few metres. Children will struggle with this. Nowhere near enough loungers & many are broken.

Food is served in the bar area by a woman who forgets half of what you ordered & even forgets to bring cutlery to eat with.

The whole place needs a facelift, its tired & unwelcoming. We spent as little time as we could there, preferring to spend our days at decent establishments like Bonkers & Mill Bar.

If price is your major criteria & you can put up with sub basic, then maybe it will do for you, just dont expect much.

Myself and my partner went away in Mid-July of this year for a week. We booked this last minute (2 days before) and used trip advisor for a quick reference and thought the few reveiws on here were ok.
This was our first visit to Greece and we were met on arrival by a friendly Olympic Rep who told us which coach was for our hotel. We only waited about 10 minutes before starting our journey. The transfer time is not long, takes about 20 minutes i think! looking at the beautiful scenery on our way, it went quickly!
We arrived at Elpida mid-day and was greeted by the owners by the pool/bar area. The hotel is on the 'main' road, and by main road i mean that a few cars and coaches go past but it is in no way busy or too noisy. Our room was on the ground floor of the small block directly opposite the childrens pool and the bar. Extremly large balcony, which was lovely and sunny and shaded at the same time, a perfect mix for us. On entering the room there was a very small kitchenette area, sink and portable cooking ring stove. best thing was the FULL size fridge with small freezer section. Plent of cutlery and glasses. No kettle if you like to have tea, so take your own. The bathroom is typically Greek with an open wet room shower (no curtain, so keep towels off the floor) and a mirror with lighting. There is a small open window in the bathroom, no glass with bars and inside wooden shutters. There were 2 large single beds pushed together to create a double. comfortable and clean bedding. Bedding, towels and bins were cleaned regularly. The room we had, had original style glass doors and wooden shutters leading out on to the balcony. The balcony had 2 chairs and a large table and also a clothes horse for wet clothing. If you decide to purchase air conditioning (7 Euro's a day) you need to have the doors closed for it to work. All in all we really liked our room, basic but very comfortable.
There are not many facilities at the Elpida, only the pool and bar areas, however this was more than enough. The pool had a childrens section seperated from the deep pool by a brick 'bridge'. There were not many children here as no kids club so the pool was always quiet. Plenty of sunbeds, fabric style, not the plastic sort that break! The bar is right next to the pool and serves everything from breakfast to late night snacks, it also only closes when the last customer leaves. Prices were very reasonable with a large full English Breakfast for around 6 Euros including juice and hot drinks. Soft drinks were 1.50 Euro and beers around 3 Euros. Only food and drink purchased from the bar can be consumed at the pool, our room was right by the pool so we could go to the room quickly if needed, saying that none of the rooms were a great distance. Entertainment at the Elpida was always based on what you wanted, there was a large TV in the bar, a playstation 2 in the corner (FREE), pool table, and a small books library where you can swap books, so only carry one as you can exchange it for another and leave them behind for someone else to enjoy. The Elpida also has its own shop, also run by the owners. reasonably priced, large 8ltr bottle of water cost 2 Euro's, so buy it here and not in the town. This too remains open until the last person leaves so you can get pretty much anything at any time.
The main resort is only a 5 minute walk away, but you may need a torch for returning in the dark. There are so many places to eat in Alykanass, from typical greek dishes to fish and chips! We ate at restuarant just a few minutes from the hotel called Memories which was great value and extremly good. 2 Greek dinners and large bottle of water with bread came to around 15 Euros! Next door was their Sweet Memories, a fantastic selection of ice creams and cakes that can be taken away. Further into the main resort you can find plenty of shops selling all your holiday souveniers.
The beach is only a 10 or 15 minute walk away through the main shops and is lovely. Great white sandy beach with plenty of sun beds. We sat on some owned by one of the hotels that cost 7 Euros for 2 sunbeds, a chair and a table. There are staff there that will also go and order and bring out any food and drinks purchased from them. There is a nice restaurant just along the beach i think called The Mill Bar, which serves all variety of food and drinks and also has a pool that is free to use! They have many theme nights too.
The main resort has plenty of horse drawn carriages taking you back to your hotel for a small price.
This was a fantastic holiday and Greece is extrmely cheap compared to some of the Spanish resorts we have been to before.
Would love to go back!

Very basic 2 bedroom apartment but clean and exactly what I expected having travelled to various places in Greece. I was happy with the accomodation. My only concern was that the cot for my two year old had a huge rip in the side and I was scared he would get tangled up in it. However, putting the cot against the wall ensured this was not an issue.

The pool area was lovely, not too busy and plenty of sunbeds. The grounds were well kept and the bar and shop were reasonably priced and well stocked. The hotel offers amazing views of the mountains and is close to many local bars and restaurants. The beach is approximatey a ten-fifteen minute walk away.

My only concern, and the only reason I probably would not stay in this hotel again is because of the lady who worked the bar during the day. She watched you constantly when you were sunbathing and also questioned me feeding my ten month old son by the pool as you weren't allowed to eat your own food. I was left flabbergasted by this remark as I wondered how I was supposed to get my son to eat a burger and chips! She often ruined any form of relaxation as you could feel her watching you at all times. This was a shame as the rest of the family / staff were lovely

This i think was my 5th or 6th time to Elpida and it really is a home away from home. The family who run this hotel are the most lovely people and will always do heir best to make you feel welcome and all your needs are met.

The bar area is always a good place to meet new people, kick back and relax, share a joke or a story or just take a moment out witha good book and a lovely drink (try Spyros' frappe with baileys, always hits the spot!) The poole table by the bar is always busy and have many good memories there. When you buy the poole tokens if you're lucky you might get a free one with it which was always greatly appreciated!.

The pool is always clean and a great place to have some fun. Source of hours of entertainment for kids, teenagers and adults alike.

The rooms are always clean, there are fresh towels, bedding and bins emptied frequently. The balcony is a good size with a patio set so you can spend plenty of time relaxing. The room comes with a good size fridge, mini stove, cutlery, crockery so there's plenty of options if you want to eat in.

The local restaurants and shops are always good, never been let down by them before. Local supermarkets have plenty of variety from food to little knick knacks and gifts to bring home.

The local beach is about ten minutes walk from the hotel which goes by quite quickly. Make sure you use the showers by the beach before the walk home, dried off salt on your skin can be a pain!

There are plenty of trips and outings to be had in the local area and can be arranged at the town. The boat trip to Shipwreck Cove is amazing, the local waterpark is an amzing day out, cars can be rented out as well as quad bikes and scooters.

Overall i've had many amazing holidays there with lots of great memories and photos i will cherish with me always!
