Just returned from a lovely week in Zante, whilst overcast for the first couple of days, we managed to get on the sunbeds every day for some time, but had to make use of the covered areas and the plastic curtains & nice comfy armchair's and sofas, but sunshine state resumed for the rest of the week, then had to keep cooling off in the sea and pool.
.
The hotel was pretty much as we left it in September, the bar had been extended with a larger covered area & a bit more entertainment this time although we went into town to try a different taverna each night!

Half the sunbeds were new (the ones on the grassed area) and new tables and chairs along the seafront too.

I love this resort and found it very friendly again, not one to return usually, but this is a really easy option as know that what I am going to get and lovely location right on the beach, the view, the sea, hard to beat & plenty of places to eat, never had a bad meal.

Rooms have everything we needed, but didn't spend much time in there really and the place was nice and clean everywhere.

Would recommend to families as nice pool and shallow seas & to those not looking for too much of a party time.

Room Tip: Higher room less noise from above, acoustics aren't great but bearable

Despite requesting a sea view the initial apartment allocated was facing a stone wall with absolutely no sea in sight.

Although the apartment was of a good standard it was situated directly next to the main stairway and the constant stream of suitcases being hauled up and down all day and night was unbearable.

A simple request to the reception staff secured a room on the top floor with a stunning view of the Mediterranean in a better quality apartment.

The local amenities were very good and the resort and surrounding area were well worth investigating.

We have stayed at Alykanas beach 5 times have have always been happy with our room this year a very different story our room had mold just inside the door and the bathroom. In the bathroom we had a strong unpleasant smell of stale water. I used half a bottle of perfume to cover the smell. My Daughter and Grandchildren were in another hotel very near by and my Grandaughter wanted to see our room when she entered she said Grandma why are you staying in a smelly room !!!.
We reported it but if they did anything we did not notice. Will not stop us going to Alykanas but would NOT stay here again. Room 322

Our studio at Alykanas Beach Ararthotel room 124 was typical Greek accommodation but more spacious than usual. A problem with the complex is that because of its construction many balconies do not get the sun at all. Our room did from 3pm onwards. Dripping bath room taps were never fixed despite promises. The resort is picturesque as is the nearby resort of Alykes. The quickest way to Alykes is to go through the hotels car park. For a change of scene you can walk to Shoestring beach. Walk right along Alykanas beach until you come to Neraih Tavernier and go right up the road past the Lemon Tree Taverner and you cant miss it on the left. 30 minutes at most but not for anyone with severe walking difficulties as there’s a bit an incline to the Shoestring Taverner and the beach. Don’t expect Benidorm nightlife in Alykanas although there are a few tribute acts doing the rounds and quizzes if you want them. The music bars are a nice way to finish the night. Never had a bad meal in the taverners and went to Dionysus 3 times. They’re slow but with house rose at E5 a litre who cares? There’s a young man who helps out there that also works at the Alykanas beach. You’ll know him when you see him because he could smile for Greece! Vsraki was also good value. The much recommended Paradiskia in Alykes was a let down regarding the vegetables. The meat course was excellent but my dish had rice only and my wife’s veg were raw. It’s best to be clear exactly what you want when you order your food anywhere. A gyros wrap is still the best snack in the world and a few places do them on the main drag. The tourist train excursion was a little different to expectations. The distance to the village seemed almost walkable and the culture museum was lots of old furniture and machinery etc in some sheds on a farm. After spending 45 minutes there we got on the train and went 75 yards and got off again! After 15 minutes in a church we spent over an hour at a Taverner where we were given a free bowl of raisins and quarter litre of wine. Fortunately we had only had a light breakfast so bought lunch from a limited lunch menu to pass the time. The Letsos supermarket on the main road is best for provisions and there’s a fresh fruit and veg shop and a bakers nearby it. There’s a supermarket outside the hotel but everything’s 10-20% more expensive. Best to take currency as the local exchange rate was 5c per £ less than in UK

Room Tip: If you've heard of a good room that suits you ask for it by room number and you might get it. J...

Day 3 and for the money seems like a nice family resort, however despite our room being locked we have been robbed of money and jewelry yesterday (as were two other rooms). Reps and staff have just suggested we go to the police station and didn't seem overly concerned. We now have to pay for taxis (€20)and interpreter (€50) to see the police. If this was my hotel and my guests were robbed id drive them myself and translate.

Great little find....cannot fault it....feel like I want to keep it a secret....amazing location, right on the beach...views out to kefalonia, views to the other side, mountains and olive groves. Pool area spacious, plenty of sunbeds and gets sun all day! Sun went down about 20.30. 5 minute walk into town where there are lots of lovely restaurants. All great value. Plenty of bars and shops too. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Staff fantastic, extremely friendly and a credit to the hotel. Great atmosphere. Big thanks to Nikos on the bar who kept us entertained throughout our stay and Tafi who is a little star. Rooms are spacious and again exceptionally clean, maids were lovely. Genuinely fell in love with this place...so much so have booked to go back in July. Lots of repeat guests which says a lot. Can't wait to go back.
