“Top place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

This was our 3rd stay at Valais Hotel [joint record, only 1 other hotel 3 times].
We usually visit Greece at least 2 times per year [over the past 18 years].

We’ve already made our minds up, that we will be returning next September.

I always said that I could not under-stand people that return to the same hotel year after year.

There are a number of reasons we will be returning again:

Location – right on the beach, even next to a road, there is very little noise.

Hotel – all areas including rooms are kept very clean and tidy. I personally found the beds very comfortable and slept very well. Cleaners very good/friendly [wish I could remember your names]

Pool – large pool, plenty of sun-beds and always seemed to be very hot around the pool area.

Food – excellent choice for breakfast caters for all nationals. Will adapt choices available to individual’s requests.
Ate at hotel every lunch time, tried a variety of meals all very good.
Never tried in the evening [though good reports from other guests]

Staff – All the staff are very friendly and very attentive, however must mention Jimmy always on the go, but always finds time to speak and help if needed.
Katarina is always around for her guests’ and cannot do too much to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time. Keeps the staff inline ensuring guests receive a very good service?

Beach – we are beach and sea people, lovely and sandy sea, always feels warm, great for kids and people that are wary of going in the sea. The sea has a sandy floor [no need for sea shoes] which is a little like dunes, a few inches deep walking to waist deep, then rising to a few inches and further to waist deep. You properly can walk a couple of hundred metres before reaching neck deep.
Hotel waitress’s come down and provides a drinks and food service.

Alykanas is a small place with about 20 restaurants and bars, just a short walk up the road from the hotel. [It is not a place for youngster to go if you want to rave]
The whole village projects a calm feeling, so relaxed with no hassle.

Recommend to everone.

Stayed here with my daughter on a room only basis. Good sized room with one double and one large single bed, which were very comfortable. Balcony faced to the side, but was quiet and very private. Air-con essential, even in September, at €5 a night. Free safe in room. We ate lunch served on the beach every day, which was delicious and well-priced. The staff here are very helpful and friendly and will do their utmost to ensure you have a happy stay. My only tiny criticism is that there is no free wifi, unlike all the other bars and restaurants in the resort, but this didn't spoil an otherwise fabulous holiday - we'll be back!

We didn't actually stay here but we used the beach facilities everyday of our holiday. The sunbeds were 7 euros for two beds, and we had great table service on the beach. The food was lovely, we tried something different everyday, including chicken souvlaki and banana and chocolate paninis!
We were looked after by a lovely Lithuanian girl who was incredibly polite and friendly as were all the staff including Wayne, George and Gordon at the watersports.

This hotel was a last minute R&R break and was recommended by a friend, I had a week there on my own early September and was overwhelmed.
5* it's not but that is more than made up for by the way the staff greet and look after you Jimmy (Speedy) is non-stop and nothings a problem while Julie is attentive and always happy to see you and they never seem to forget a name, Katarina is exactly the same it's a family run concern with lots of repeat business from what I could tell and they will definitely be getting my business again. clean, tidy and caring a great little Gem.

Room Tip: All rooms are basic but very clean and well kept.

Although we never stayed at the hotel we used its amenities everyday as we were located on the beach and chose the sun beds which were provided by them.

The staff come doen from the hotel to allow you to order drinks and luch and bring them directly to you on the beach. Alternatively you can go up to the hotel and eat lunch there or use their pool.

We spent many a day here and consequently got to know some of the staff very well .

Friendly and always chatty they like many other locals helped to make our holiday an overall fantastic week . We look forward to going back next year and hopefully catching up with Katrina and Jimmy and not forgetting the two waitresses one from Liverpool who were both very friendly.

Some great laughs and good memories thanks to a fantastic bunch of people .

Called in for a drink after a lovely day on the beach. Service was slow and the beer was 1 euro more than every other bar on beach! Asked to use wifi and was told it would be 10€ for an hour. WHAT???? Every other bar offers free wifi to customers. Left and went to the friendly mill bar. Wont be going back! Such a let down.

So after being unable to get into the Alykanas Beach was recommended the Valais by the owner of the Apollo Restaurant, - I for one will not be returning to the ABH bnut will return to the Valais.
Rooms - basic but very clean, good views and a bath and shower that is beautiful + no shower curtain. Fridge, TV, balcony - what more do you need :)
Pool - one word - STUNNING!, rarely busy, got size and deep - very clean.
Restaurant/Bar - great staff (Jules, Jimmy, Bonnie etc), very friendly, lunch time food is very good especially the gyro's and homemade burgers, eat in most days the food was that good. Evening meals - only eat in once as we like to go to other restaurants in the village.

Katerina and George run a fantastic hotel with hard working dedicated staff and they know everyone by name another great touch - will be back next year definitely (hopefully more than once!).

Hard to improve on what is almost the perfect hotel in a great location

Room Tip: Stayed in 214 - good room views of the hills.
